EU YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP IN MALENOVICE

OFFICIALLY CLOSED

On Thursday, September 5th, 2013

fights for winning EU Youth Chess

Championship under 8, 10, 12 and 14

years culminated.

The tournament U8 controlled players

from Romania.

In category Boys U8 Bulgariu Andrei (ROU) took the first place. The second place

went to Jaro Benjamin (HUN) and the third place went to Panturu Octavian-Nicu

(ROU). Category Girls U8 was overran by players from Romania: gold medale went

to Obada Ema, silver to Otetea Ioana and bronze to Vulpe Raisa-Georgiana.

The champion EU in category B10 is David Bogdan-Emanuel (ROU), silver medal

went to Ciccoli Theo (FRA) and bronze medal went to Jazdanovs Aleksandrs (LAT).

In category Girls U10 the champion is Ginovart Camille (FRA), second place went to

Tomczak Marta (POL) and the third place went to Boboc Thea-Elena (ROU).

In category Boys U12 Semjonovs Ilja (LAT) won the title, second place went to

Hurdzan Tomas (CZE) and the third place went to Calin Alexandru (ROU). The

champion EU in category Girls U12 is Antova Gabriela (BUL), who was best ranked

player U12 (both boys and girls section). The second place went to Sibajeva Marija

(LTU) and the third to Kopcova Ludmila (CZE).

In category Boys U14 Peczely Sebastian Zsombor (HUN) won the title, silver went to

Tomczak Mikolaj (POL) and bornze went to Nguyen Thai Dai Van (CZE). In category

Girls U14 all medals went to players from The Czech Republic. The champion EU

U14 is Kanakova Natalie, the second place went to Pychova Nela and the third to

Janska Jitka (all CZE).

The champions in each category got a cup and diploma. All the other winners of

EUYCC got medals. All eight champions EU were leaving Malenovice with a lap top.

The next five players in each category also got valuable prizes. Each player got a T-

Shirt with logo of EUYCC.

EU Youth Chess Championship 2013 under the patronage of the ECU was organized

by Šachový klub Svtlá nad Sázavou in cooperation with The Czech Chess Federation.

Boys and girls have played in the same tournament. Eventually boys and girls were

evaluated separately. Tournament had 107 players from 15 federations. All games

were on-line transmitted. Young players have been pleased by awarding the best

game of the each round.

The end of the EUYCC was shot by Czech Television and in 16:00 we could watch

news from EUYCC in news Czech state television.

For all participants and accompanying persons organizers had prepared chess and

non-chess leisure time activities. First walk tour was to hill Ivancena. Exciting

experience was walk tour to Lysá hora (1323 m). For interested persons two

simultaneous chess games have been organized. IM Petr Pisk has beaten his

opponents with the score 13,5 : 1,5 and a game of IM Richard Biolek ended it withthe

score 15,5:2,5. 32 players participated in Blitz Tournament. The winner was Czech

coach FM Michal Novotný, the second place went to Slovakian gifted player Marek

Karas and the third place went to experienced English player Chris I Howell. The

organizers prepared many leisure time activities for the participants. They could use

free entry to the salt water pool. Also, they could use discount on wellness, sauna,

salt cave and other. Every day there were a lot of games of table tennis, table football

and bowling. Favorite game became giant chess. On the official website organizers

placed photo gallery from tournament and other activities. Photo gallery is still being

filling in with interesting photos.

Eventually I would like to thank all players for their performance and fair play, all

parents and coaches for cooperation, arbiters for running the tournament and all

cooperators for their work. Also I want to invite all chess friends for the next EUYCC

2014.

Club Cup 2013, which is to be held in

Rhodes, Greece from 19-27 October, 2013 is

released.

Among the participants are almost all of

the top World players, which makes this

tournament the strongest and the most

attractive of all European Championships.

Some of the names in the Open Section are: Alexander Grischuk, Fabiano Caruana,

Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Sergey Karjakin, Hikaru Nakamura, Veselin Topalov (all

Top 10 players in FIDE September 2013 list), Lenier Dominguez, Peter Svidler, Gata

Kamsky, Alexander Morozevich etc.

In Women Section there are Hou Yifan, Humpy Koneru, Anna Muzychuk, Kateryna

Lagno, Pia Cramling (all Top 10 players in FIDE September 2013 list), Valentina

Chess Club Novi Sad in Men's Section

and Chess Club Jelica Pep Goracici in

Women's Section are the new Serbian

Team Champions for 2013. Serbian

National Team Championship was help

in Kragujevac, Serbia from August 24th

to September 3rd, 2013 in the hotel

Sumarice.

The tournament was played with 12 teams in 11 rounds in both sections. This is the

third title in a row for Novi Sad, the team with the longest tradition in Serbia. They

scored 29 match points, with 9 won and 2 drew matches. Members of the winning

team were as follows: GM Robert Markus 2622 SRB (5.5/10), GM Dragan Solak 2592

TUR (6/11), GM Bojan Vuckovic 2572 SRB (6.5/11), GM Dusan Popovic 2568 SRB

(6.5/11), GM Aleksandar Kovacevic 2564 SRB (8.5/11), GM Miroljub Lazic 2457 SRB

(7.5/10), GM Petar Popovic 2458 SRB (0.5/1), IM Sinisa Saric 2401 SRB (0.5/1),

Second place and silver medal went to Chess Club Jugovic Kac with27 match points,

and third place and bronze medal went to Chess Club Vodovod Kragujevac, who

scored 26 match points.

In Women's Section the winner is Chess Club Jelica Pep Goracici, who scored 31

match points. Members of the winning team were: GM Natalia Zhukova 2468 UKR

(8.5/11), WGM Jovana Vojinovic 2376 SRB (8.5/11), WIM Marija Rakic 2294 (8.5/11),

WIM Jovana Eric 2223 SRB (8/10), WGM Mirjana Maric 2263 SRB (0/0), Tamara

Kezele 1994 SRB (0.5/1). They won 10 matches and drew only one, with second

ranked Chess Club Bas, who was three times winner in a row (2010-2012). Bas scored

29 match points, with 9 wins and 2 draws. Both of those teams were quite superior

and justified the roles of favorites, given before the start. Third place and bronze

medal went to Chess Club Jugovic Kac, with 23 match points, who won medals in

The Tournament was played as a Round Robin one, with the time control 90 minutes

for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game + 30 seconds increment

per move, starting from move one.

Three players won norms in this tournament. Certainly the most important one is the

final GM norm for Serbian IM Miroslav Miljkovic (ELO 2456), but it is worth to

mention 2 young and talented players - current Youth Champion EM Novak

Cabarkapa (ELO 2361) who won IM norm, and current Women Belgrade Champion

Bogdanan Nonkovic (ELO 2078) who won WIM norm.

Tie-breaks were: TB1 match points (3 for win, 1 for draw, 0 for loss), TB2 points

(game points) and TB3 the result of the team in the same point group according to

match points.

The Tournament was organized by Serbian Chess Federation. The Chief Arbiter was

IA Branislav Suhartovic.

These ladies were quite superior and justified the role of the main favourite for the

title. WGMs Bulmaga and L’Ami showed great performance, both with 8 points out

of maximum 9, which made them best players according to points.

Silver medal went to Chess Club Stud. Medicina Timisoara with 13 match points,

and bronze went to CS Aem Luxten Timisoara with 12 match points.

The best players in Men’s Section are GM Nevednichy with 8/8, which made him the

best player of the tournament, according to points and percentage, and GM Banusz,

who scored 8 points out of 9. In both sections, tournament was played as a Round

Robin one, with 10 teams in 9 rounds.

The Championship was organized by FR Sah and Cs Tinerii Maetrii Bucureti.

The Tournament director was IA Daniel Candea, and the Chief Arbiter was IA Fleisz

Ioan Tiberiu.

FOR WOMEN

Chess Club Rudar from Prijedor is the

new champion of the 12th Premier

League of Bosnia and Herzegovina 2013

for Women, which was held in Sarajevo,

Bosnia and Herzegovina from 5-8

September, 2013 in hotel Saraj.

Chess Club Rudar scored 13 match

points, with 4 won matches and 1 draw.

GM KAREN GRIGORYAN WINS THE 74TH ARMENIAN

CHAMPIONSHIP – THE 1ST LEAGUE

GM Karen Grigoryan (ELO 2550) won the

74th Armenian Championship – the 1st

League scoring 9.5 points in 13 rounds.

GM Levon Babujian (ELO 2501) finished

second scoring 8 points. GM Tigran

Kotanjian (ELO 2500) finished on a half

point distance from him.

The Championship was played from 21st August to 3rd September, 2013 in Yerevan.

Tournament director of the competition, organized by the Armenian Chess

Federation, was IO Hrachik Tavadyan, while Chief Arbiter was NA Aram

Iskandaryan.

GM IVAN LOPEZ SALGADO IS THE NEW SPANISH CHESS

CHAMPION

GM Ivan Salgado is the new Spanish

Chess Champion. He won his title

scoring 7.5 points in 9 rounds. Four

players finished on a half point distance

from the champion. Because of better

tie-break the silver medal went to GM

Miguel Illescas, the bronze medal – to

GM Luis Arizmendi.

The Individual Spanish Chess Championship was held from 29th August to 6th

September in Linares.

Tournament director of the competition, organized by the Spanish Chess Federation,

was Francisco Fernández Albalate, and Chief Arbiter was Sagrario Rodriguez
