Times Tables Rockstars has relaunched at Reaside!

• When it comes to times tables, speed AND accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations.

• Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help students master the times tables!

• To be a Times Table Rock Star you need to answer any multiplication fact up to 12×12 in less than 3 seconds!

• Every child in the school has their own account, which can be accessed on phones, tablets and computers. Please encourage your child to attempt to learn their tables and score as highly as they can – everyone can be a TTRockstar…

IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE REGARDING CORONAVIRUS We are aware of press coverage regarding Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and we are mindful of the risk of this and are, therefore, taking precautionary measures and making plans accordingly. We would like to stress that currently there is no concern at Reaside Academy. As parents, you should not be unduly worried about the possibility of your children catching the Coronavirus. We have been advised to share the most recent government guidance: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus In the event that you or members of your family have returned, from one of the identified areas within the Category 1 list below, in the past 14 days, it is essential that they do not attend school for a period of 14 days in accordance with the advice issued by the Government. If this is the case can you please call NHS 111, stay indoors and avoid contact with other people even if they do not have symptoms. You must also inform us immediately by email to [email protected] to help us inform public services and health planning.

· Iran · Specific lockdown areas in Northern Italy (see link to maps below) · Special care zones in South Korea (see link to maps below) · Hubei province (returned in the past 14 days – see link to maps below)

Link to maps: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-specified-countries-and-areas Please follow the national guidance for all other foreign travel. If you or members of your family have returned from the places on the Category 2 list below in the past 14 days and develop symptoms, however mild, you should stay indoors at home and avoid contact with other people immediately and call NHS 111 and also inform us immediately by email to [email protected] You do not need to follow this advice if you have no symptoms.

· Northern Italy (anywhere north of Pisa, Florence and Rimini) · Vietnam · Cambodia · Laos · Myanmar ·

We are keen to take a calm and measured approach to the situation and avoid hysteria regarding the spread of the virus. It is, therefore, sensible if we can all stress the importance of washing hands thoroughly with soap and water and/or making use of hand sanitisers. Whilst you may, as we do, stress this all the time, with the current health situation it is clearly important to emphasise the significance of this precaution to prevent the spread of any virus. We will monitor this situation very closely and do our best to keep you informed and updated with any changes to national guidance.

Year 5 have been taking part in dance workshops run by a dance teacher from Turves Green Girls’ School this half term. Yesterday, our dancers were very brave and performed their routine to several other local primary schools at a primary dance showcase. They were all superstars and had a lovely evening watching all the other schools perform. Well done Year 5 dancers!
