Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME)

Founded in 1782, the

Budapest University ofTechnology and Economics -BME (in Hungarian: BudapestiMűszaki és GazdaságtudományiEgyetem) is the mostsignificant University ofTechnology in Hungary and isconsidered the world's oldestInstitute of Technology, thefirst one in Europe to trainengineers at university level.

Hungarian Rectors’ Conference (HRC)

About 1,100 lecturers, 400researchers and other degreeholders and numerous invited

lecturers and practisingexpert specialists participatein education and research at

the BME.

The Hungarian Rectors’ Conference (HRC), as the unique representative

body of the local universities, is one of the oldest and most prestigiousorganizations in Hungary responsible for the university sector, academiccooperation and internationalization of the higher education.

Approximately 1,381 of the university's 21,171 students

are from 50 countries abroad.

Around 70% of Hungary's engineering degrees come from BME.  

Training courses are provided in five languages: Hungarian, English,

German, French and Russian.

In order to foster internationalization in Hungary, the

HRC is taking a major role in enhancing studentmobility, promotion of the Hungarian culture,innovations, academic life and research cooperation,as well as concluding various international projectsand agreements.
