AIESEC in Delhi University NewsletterTRANSCRIPT
The Educational Sector of AIESEC in Delhi University delivered over 40
Global community development and Global Internship Experiences. Interns
have worked on Project Worldview based in two-tier cities like Gaya and
Ahmednagar. The sector added more language institutes to their clientele
while branching out to BPOs who want to hire trainers. This sector is also
carrying forward a pilot project called LEAD through which they aim to
connect NGOs to school children with international interns acting as a link
in formulating sustainable projects. For the coming term they also aim at
forming AIESEC cells and holding Youth Empowerment sessions at the school
level. This would ensure that students have an idea about the organisation
and the work we do while we engage as many people as possible.
AIESEC in Delhi University had their first Lcong of the year in July at the
Shakunt Resorts from the 7-9th July, 2012.The Theme of the conference
was Learn.Live.Believe and Dog on the Top, Always. Nikita Singh, Member
committee Vice President, Human Resource Development, AIESEC India,
chaired the conference.The Lcong proved to be a huge success, with the

AIESEC in Delhi University has had a 100% growth in GIP OGX, there also has
been a change in Organizational Structure, with an Innovations team in
place for this sector. Four Individuals will try to innovate and come up with
new ways of delivering the exchange process in every stage. GIP OGX
currently handling 25 Exchange Participantss and has delivered 9
experiences already. .
AIESEC DU's Development Sector shot for a flashmob for Yuvraj Singh's
documentary series "Being Yuvi" at Select Citywalk, Saket. It was done in
association with Indian Cancer Society for the project I CAN. A partnership
with Apollo Hospitals has also been stuck with for project I CAN. The
website of project Caste away was launched www.casteaway.org. Caste
Away has also partnered with Safai Karamchari Andolan for the project. An
exhibition of paintings by Dalits was also organised at Kuzart Lane, Hauz
Khas. The Q1 and Q2 for the team Impact Aurors, GCDP ICX 2012
(Development Sector) has been outstanding. The targets for the first two
quarters were 120-80-30 and the achieved results were 115-89-11. The
numbers clearly draw a picture of good members activity level, great
department culture and well planned inter-department synergy. The issues
that the development sector is dealing with this year are child
empowerment, global warming and Rural development.The department is
looking forward to more innovations and delivering quality experiences in
the next few months.
OGX expanded into the private market this summer and did 39 exchanges.
The Exchange Participants were sent to more than 15 different countries
with some of the experiences being truly amazing. For the first time ever,
exchange programmes with countries like Sri Lanka, Philippines, Mexico,
South Africa etc were facilitated for Delhi students.

Since the beginning of Q3 a strong emphasis had been on the HR aspect of
the Local Chapter and on how HR could drive growth in the organization.
Following this, one of the four LC focus area has been TMP/TLP (Team
Member/Team Leader Programme) Driving growth. The Local chapter has
undergone a OS evolution so as to match up with the increasing operations.
At the same time a new team called Human Resource Support Team has been
formed comprising of individuals from each VP department who would be
responsible for tracking,training and ensuring a quality learning experience
to each member. We are increasingly focusing on the development of our
membership and to symbolize the same the TM department has been
renamed to Human Resource Development. Recruitment 51 people have
been recruited already inis Phase 2 of our OS Evolution. This is going to be
followed by another recruitment by September first week for Phase 3 of OS
Evolution. Placement Cell The department has been getting guidance from
various alumna of the LC. A placement cell would be in place by december.
The business development sector was able to raise money for all the
events,projects and hence maintained the financial nature of the LC. The
department was able to raise Rs. 4 Lakh for Udaan through sponsorships. It
partnered with companies like Star India,Suncapital Ltd,Genue invertors. It
was also able to raise over Rs. 3 Lakhs for the initiative of delhi university -
Gift a Dream and hence, delhi university was able to sponsor the education
of 120 underprivileged kids for an entire year. It also raised around Rs. 2
Lakh for the various development sector projects ,partnering with various
trust funds and hence contributed in making the development sector
financially sustainable.With youth carnival just coming up,this department
has some great partnerships in pipeline!
Udaan 2012 was an initiative by AIESEC DU to spread smiles and impact the
life of 7000 underprivileged kids in and around New Delhi. The event was
spread over a period of 23 days and witnessed 9 pre events,2 promotional
events and one grand main event on the 5th of september. The series of
pre-events included events like art competition(balkalakar),football
competitions(kick-for-cause),movie screeningDelhi darshan. The LC also
went out and painted an NGO in order to create a better environment for
the kids to study.Through Udaan the LC was able to engage 500 volunteers.
We also were able to raise money to sponsor the education of 120
underprivileged kids,free for an entire year! Udaan 2012 was Delhi
Universitie’s initiative of being relevant in Delhi and making some tangible
impact on the society!
Marketing and Information Management has successfully completed various
projects since the last newsletter update. We are proud to launch our
internal stakeholder and IM website (www.aiesecdelhiuniversity.org) with
its unique member tracking system and Youth Empowerment blog. We now
have a Communications Crew in place for systematic management of new
media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Ustream and YouTube. IM
policy has been defined for the local committee and IM Managers have been
trained and inducted for efficient use of aiesec.net and the newly
constructed Learning Centre. Various online campaigns have been
undertaken, including the "Experiences powered by AIESEC" and the Power
of YOUth campaign. The organization and its various activities were
covered by HT City, Aaj Tak, NDTV, HIT 95, ETV, EPIC magazine and MTV.
External postioning has increased further with 9 new partnerships, two of
which (Skillkindle and Concepts Tree) were undertaken in collaboration with
the HRD department. Other marketing activities in the past 3 months
include the "Fly to Fight" festival, with customized AIESEC DU kites and
promotion of project iCan through a Tele-series about Yuvraj Singh.
In the corporate sector, we establish internship opportunities with
corporate houses by engaging with them interns from our network of 110
countries. We market AIESEC's global internship program to leaders of the
corporate world. In benefits the members as they go for meetings with the
corporate houses, by this they get some corporate exposure and practical
knowledge, entrepreneurial skills and other basic skills. Currently we're on
78 GIP matches and 76 realizations on system. In terms of realizations,
we're number 1 in the national network by a decent margin but in terms of
matches we're number 3 currently. Close competition with DI and Baroda
this year. Some of our big clients are Exevo, Gets Holidays, ARVICON, TMZ
Consultantz, Nodwin Consultants pvt ltd, Lufthansa, Taj hotel.
