ERDOGAN: "WON'T LET GREECE TO MAKE UNFAIR GAIN"

"It is not logical nor understandable to blame Turkey for the cause of irregular refugee flow by a friend and an ally country," said Erdogan after his meeting with the NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg. Without naming Greece in his statement, Erdogan went on to say, "We won't let this country to make unfair gain by using the existing situation and its EU membership." Erdogan stressed that none of the European countries have the luxury to be indifferent to the problems in Syria.

ERDOGAN NO MORE IMPARTIAL, SO NOT AN INSULT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT

Erdogan is known to be the world's most 'insulted' leader since he filed thousands of files. This time, a criminal court in Ankara ruled that the president is not impartial anymore since the 2017 referendum, and that's why the person who called Erdogan as devil and rubber should be convicted for defamation but not for insulting him. In its ruling, the court mentioned that the defamation was not due to his role as a president, but it is a defamation since he is a political figure, the chair of AKP. Investigation launched against more than 100 thousand people, and 30 thousand of these cases are referred to the courts.

MIZRAKLI, A DOCTOR IS CONVICTED BY THE TESTIMONY OF A TERRORISTSURRENDERED TO SECURITY FORCESThe former mayor of Diyarbakir, Selcuk Mizrakli, sentenced to more than nine years in prison for "being a member of an armed terrorist organization." One of the witnesses included a suspected terrorist with the code name "Bermal," who had surrendered to security forces in southeastern Mardin province. According to his statements in the testimony, Mızraklı had visited the Democratic Society Congress (DTK), the PKK's legislative body. Bermal said, "Mızraklı brought a terrorist named 'Hogır' to the private hospital in Diyarbakır late at night. Mızraklı ensured that the terrorist would be discharged and released without being delivered to security forces". The witness said, "Apart from this surgery, I often heard that patients and injured members of the organization were secretly brought to the hospital at night, under the control of Mızraklı, and the operations and treatments that he was involved in." Mizrakli is a medical doctor. Soon after the announcement of conviction, his video showing the corruption in the Diyarbakir municipality started to be shared once again. In the video, Mizrakli is seen showing the misuse of public sources for luxury furnished mayors room.

SOYLU VERSUS GUL ON SECURITY INVESTIGATION FOR THE PUBLIC SERVANTS

This time the tension between Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu and Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gul is seen on the 'security investigation of the public servants' which the Constitutional Court annulled. Soylu insists on the broader investigation while Gul opposes it. AKP tries to find a way on the law since December.

ANOTHER TRANSFER FROM IYI PARTY

Tuba Vural Cokal is the third lawmaker who left Iyi Party in the last month. While the previous two deputies still didn't join any party, Cokal choose to join AKP. Cokal was critical about the presidential system calling it "One party regime" during her speech in the parliament. It is reported that she had consultations with MHP as well before joining to AKP. ANKA learned that her recent decision is related to a tender in Antalya.

LAWYERS ARRESTED IN URFA

The houses of seven lawyers are raided and detained in Sanliurfa. Besides Urfa, police raided the homes of many lawyers, according to Abdullah Oncel. Lawyers demonstrated against the detentions.

ALBANIA DEPORTS A BUSINESSMAN

Selami Simsek, a Turkish businessman, who is found guilty for entering Albania with a fake passport, is alleged to be deported to Turkey. Simsek was brought to the interior ministry in central Tirana and kept in a white minivan with civilian plates and no police insignia on Monday evening while his case was being discussed with representatives of the National Commission for Asylum and Refugees. His father, Sami Simsek, who recently arrived from Turkey, said he was afraid that his son could share the fate of Harun Celik, a Turkish teacher who was put on a plane in murky circumstances by Albanian authorities and sent to Turkey on January 1.

ERDOGAN REVEALED THE SECRET DISCUSSION IN THE PARLIAMENT

In reply to Kilicdaroglu's criticism against the Minister of Defense and Turkish General Staff for not having authority and right on commanding the Turkish military, Erdogan revealed the secret discussion in the Parliament on Idlib. Blaming CHP for trying to prevent Vice President Fuat Oktay, Minister of Defense, Hulusi Akar, from attending to the secret meeting, Erdogan said, they are not the lawmakers, but they went to the parliament to inform the deputies. Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop asked Oktay and Akar to leave the General Assembly during the secret meeting, and Oktay reacted to that decision, according to the report.

TURKEY STEPS BACK FROM CONFRONTATION AT GREEK BORDER

Turkey has signaled that it is winding down its two-week operation to aid the movement of tens of thousands of people toward Europe, following a tough on-the-ground response from Greek border guards and a tepid diplomatic reaction from European politicians. Migrants at the Greek-Turkish land border began to be transported back to Istanbul by bus this week, witnesses at the border said, de-escalating a standoff that initially set off fears of another European migration crisis. Greek officials said the number of attempted border crossings had dwindled from thousands a day to a few hundred, and none were success-ful on Friday, even as sporadic exchanges of tear-gas with Turkish security forces continued.

ERDOGAN’S CATASTROPHIC ADVENTURISM

If wars were won by fiery public speeches and threats alone, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would have given historical conquerors such as Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan and Napoleon Bonaparte a run for their money. However, fortunately for this world and unfortunately for the Turkish leader his threats mean nothing and are worthless in the theatre of war.

THE COLLAPSE OF OIL PRICES WILL INFLUENCE TURKISH ECONOMY POSITIVELY

Can Okar, an economist, claimed while the dramatic drop on the Turkish stock exchange is not a good thing, the collapse of oil prices is undeniably positive for Turkey in the longer term. He stressed that he doesn't believe Turkey will necessarily find free-flowing free credit. He said, "A global recession will hurt everyone, but net oil importers will at least not have to deal with the collapse of their primary source of income and benefit from lower energy costs."

PLANNING MISTAKES IN NEW AIRPORT

Due to 'planning mistakes,' the New Istanbul Airport's brand-new subway line cannot be constructed under the terminal. The columnist wrote that the CIO of the manager of the airport confirmed that the metro cannot be built in the airport but will be connected by electrical roads or vehicles.

CORONAVIRUS CLIMBS UP TURKEY’S ECONOMIC RISK LADDER

The Turkish-Russian deal on a cease-fire in Idlib was expected to ease economic jitters in Turkey, yet the country’s risk premium has hardly changed under the impact of the coronavirus crisis.

INTERVENTION TO EDITORIAL POLICY OF A DAILY

The Press Advertisement Institution (BIK) asked a defense from Evrensel daily for the columns published in the newspaper. The columns were questioning the state polices for ordering to die as a martyr. It is an intervention to the editorial policies of the daily, and the institution acts as judiciary according to the representative of RSF, Erol Onderoglu. The public ad ban on the Evrensel newspaper by BIK is still in effect.

A COLUMNISTS GOT PERMISSION FROM THE PALACE BEFORE REPORTING

Serdar Turgut, a columnist from Haberturk, wrote that he got permission from the palace on his story about the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. "I asked the palace about the information that Undersecretary of MIT, Hakan Fidan would visit D.C. and brief the Congress on Turkey's position," he wrote. He claimed that the two journalists arrested from Oda TV, Baris Terkoglu and Baris Pehlivan, fell into the trap of 'journalism prurience,' and that is the main reason for their arrestment.

SELF CRITICISM WITHIN FELICITY PARTY

Cihangir Islam, one of the two lawmakers of the Felicity Party, resigned from the party. Another member of the party, Ali Aktas, known for his public statements and criticisms against AKP, blamed the party administration for not taking necessary measures to prevent the division within the National View. He reminded that Ahmet Faruk Unsal left their party and became one of the founders of Remedy Party, then he asked, "Why we can't hold these people in our party?"Stressing that he didn't leave the party for his interests but on the contrary, he and the ones thinking like him, want to express themselves and want to struggle for their views. He then called to end labeling people as "real national view supported" or "a person not in our control." Stating that the National View is exhausted by its members, he said they are determined to achieve transformation in the party. National View, today represented by the Felicity Party, is the central ideology that gave birth to AKP, Future, and Remedy Parties. During the funeral of Sevket Kazan, one of the founders of the party, show that ideological division since Erdogan, Abdullah Gul, Davutoglu, and many others from these parties attended.

REMEDY PARTY; THE DIFFERENCES AND WEAKNESSES

The list of party founders is not found satisfactory since it doesn't have any famous businessmen or academics nor the high profile names known to have a close relationship with Abdullah Gul. The new party members denied the claims that there is tension between Babacan and Gul on the founders' list. There are many former AKP ministers and lawmakers in the party. The only deputy of RM is, Mustafa Yeneroglu, who recently resigned from AKP. Head of AKP's Rize branch also joined the RP, and a default funeral is arranged on behalf of him in Rize, the homeland of Erdogan. Babacan didn't refrain from expressing that some of the politicians who wanted to join his party, preferred to wait for a while. Education in mother tongue, quotas for the women and youth, using a secular language, and paying respect for Ataturk were differences of his party from AKP and Future Party. A pro-governmental columnist claimed that since Babacan is favoring liberalism and secularism, he will get the votes from Iyi and CHP voters, and this will not change the balances between the Nation's Alliance and Public's Alliance.

REACTIONS AGAINST THE HEAD OF ISTANBUL BRANCH IN CHP

CHP will hold its party congress on March 28-29, if not postponed due to the Coronavirus. Before the Congress, all the city congresses will be completed. The columnist alleges that 7 Istanbul city mayors have concerns about the head of CHP's Istanbul branch, Canan Kaftancioglu. The mayor of Kadikoy, Bulent Kerimoglu, arranged a dinner for the mayors and the chiefs of CHP's in Istanbul. In his speech, Kerimoglu told Kaftancioglu gave a call to him to express her uneasiness about the dinner on the eve of Congress. In response to that dinner, Kaftancioglu decided to arrange a meeting for the delegates of Istanbul. The writer states that Kaftancioglu was criticized in that meeting for insulting the party members, acting on her own with the support of Kilicdaroglu. It is expected that despite the list of party administration prepared by Kilicdaroglu, both the mayors and the delegates aim to challenge his list, which might cause a fight during the Congress. During the dinner, the columnist alleges that Imamoglu is criticized for not responding to the demands of the party and the leftists since he is favoring MHP and Iyi Party members in employment.

CHP held Women Congress in Istanbul despite the criticisms while the Youth Congress of CHP organized without an audience due to COVID-19. It is alleged that CHP Congress will be postponed. CHP, Iyi Party, and HDP postponed their regular group meetings in the parliament.
