PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

A reminder that we have Parent Teacher Interviews tomorrow (Thursday 27th June) beginning at 11:00am and finishing at 7:00pm. If you have not booked your interview time, please contact your child’s teacher to make a time. Due to the interviews, there will be no school for students tomorrow.

This Friday 28th June is the last day of school for Term 2 and dismissal will be at 2.30pm. Lunch will be an hour earlier with children eating their lunch in the classrooms at 12:25pm. Please ensure you have made arrangements for the collection of your children at 2.30pm.

Parents please be aware that Friday’s assembly will be at 11:30am. At the assembly, we will be saying good-bye to Ms Davidson for the next two years. Ms Davidson will be teaching in the USA. We wish her all the best and expect her back at Cairnlea Park for Semester 2 of 2021.

From the beginning of term 3, Mrs Hein will be returning 3 days per week and Mrs Smith 2 days per week. They are both returning from family leave.

As this is the last newsletter for Term 2, I would like to thank the school community for such a successful term.

With the holidays so close, I would like to remind everyone about the importance of staying safe and being seen on and around our roads.

Either as a driver, a passenger, or as a pedestrian, we all must negotiate the road traffic environment on a daily basis.

Children are especially vulnerable around vehicles and roads due to their size and capabilities.

Take the opportunity to talk to your children to become safer road-users.

When walking with your children make sure you are using the school or pedestrian crossings rather than taking potentially unsafe shortcuts.

Talk about the importance of wearing seat belts and insist that everyone in the vehicle wears appropriate restraints for their age and size.

Point out rules of the road when driving.

Always demonstrate responsible and safe behaviours when driving, as a passenger or while walking anywhere around vehicles and roads. Remember children learn good habits from adults.

I wish you a safe holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone back safe and well on Monday 15th July 2019.

Winter Interschool Sports

Our Grade 6 students have just completed their Winter Interschool Sports Program.

Congratulations goes to our Volleystars team, which went through their season undefeated,

winning the Grand Final last Friday against Resurrection PS 2 sets to 0 (25-11, 25-10). The

students were fantastically well coached by Ms. Fitzpatrick, playing as a team and supporting

each other. It was also great to see our students encouraging their opponents and applauding

great play!

This term the students also competed in Soccer, AFL Football, Tee Ball and Netball. All teams

were amazing representatives of our school, demonstrating fair play, a positive attitude and

excellent enthusiasm. Well done to all students!

3-6 Athletics Carnival

In term 3 we turn our attention to our school Athletics Carnival. It will be held on Friday 26th

July on the school grounds and we encourage all students to dress up in their house colours for

the day. All of our grade 3 to 6 students have been working very hard during PE classes on

their athletics skills and this promises to be a fun day, where they can all show off all they

have learned. Parents are invited to come along on the day to cheer the students on. Events

will be running throughout the day, with a short ceremony to celebrate the student’s efforts to

be held in the gym at 2:55pm.

The 2019 Canteen Menu is now in operation

There are three price increases;

All Icy Poles are 50c extra

Sushi is $3.50 per roll

Quench fizzy drinks are $2.50

All other prices remain the same as last year.

Copies are available from the canteen and the office.

Second Hand Uniforms If you have any uniform items that your children have grown out of,

please consider donating them to the second-hand uniform shop.

The items must be washed and clean & in good condition.

Items can be handed in at the office. Thank you.

All proceeds from the uniform shop are donated to

State School Relief.

2019/2020 Enrolments

Enrolments are taken for children who live in the Cairnlea estate and siblings of students currently attending Cairnlea Park Primary. Due to our enrolment restrictions we are unable to accept any enrolments from families who live outside the Cairnlea estate.

Parents are required to supply the following information when enrolling: Proof of residence in Cairnlea Proof of age (birth certificate or passport) Immunisation certificate

2020 Prep Enrolments

The next school tour will be on Monday 22nd July. Dates and times for future tours are on the school website and available through the office.

Bookings through the office are essential for the school tours.
