Newsletter Dec. 2019 From the President Hello Pastelists! I hope you all have been enjoying the autumn colors. Pastels are the perfect medium to capture the fall foliage as they have more pure pigment than any other medium. Artists over the years have come to find great pleasure and satisfaction in using pastels to create their art, especially when intense colors are desired. Now with the winter holidays upon us, there is plenty of inspiration from a new season of colors. Something I learned at the Casey Klahn workshop is that if you are wanting new color schemes, you might map your colors on a color wheel, then give it a "turn", and do the picture in the new set of colors. Then turn it again, and do it a 3rd time and see what happens. Or use the opposite of the local color. There are so many ways to mix it up. Then, even if we go back to the way we used to paint, it all seems fresher. Have fun! Keep pasteling, Babs Steward APS, Co-President
