I know many of you put in volunteer time for the Society – maybe we are just not recording them all !, but my personal thanks to all the members who contributed to this total. Hopefully the AFA grant people will be impressed too! It takes all members working to present our Society in a good light to the world. Hopefully each member will participate in some way as the Society is growing and becoming more known to the art world – in a good light! This is your Society – and it can only continue to succeed if each member is proud of the organization and spreads the word to other artists...about the workshops being offered, the Loft Gallery and Gift Shop, and the camaraderie that surrounds the general meetings and events. Thanks to you as a member for doing your part. Having said that, we do still need a Chairperson and a Committee to organize our Fall Show! Binders are available, as well as other members and the Board, to assist with the organization. Email me if you wish to be involved. Financially, the Ottewell Centre did well in 2018. Many of the dates were rented to “art related” events rather than “party” events. You might note that art sales in 2018 at our shows were $8,441 (down) and Loft Gallery sales were $4,810 (down), Gift Gallery sales were $5890.50 (up)– That’s a total of $19,141.50 in sales!! Therefore, a payout to ASSC artists of $15,313.20 – not bad, eh? – but the downside is that the total sales were down. The challenge is out to all members to find a way to increase the art sales in 2019. Your Board is seeking a way to improve art sales and any ideas coming from the Art Society of Strathcona County

Many of the dates were rented to “art related” events rather than “party” events. membership would be most welcome. We, as artists, must continue to educate the public on the beauty of “original art”.

Are your paintings coming along for the Spring Show?? The deadline for Spring Show Art Registration is February 28.

As they say, life goes on, but it changes. There will be some changes made to the Society in 2019, mostly regarding the financial handling. Hopefully we will be a better, more organized Society for it!

Regards, Sonja
