February is the month of love .Not only for the couples of New Auckland place but for the staff, resident and visitors as we celebrate Smokey being with us for one Year. I can only wish and hope that we have brought as much love and joy to Smokey’s life as he has brought to ours. ♥♥ I would like to say congratulations to the staff & residents of Boyne North. It was certainly a great team effort in decorating the lift area and the main lounge area for Australia day. It was great to see some Australian animals come and live with us for a short period of time, as well as a great display of Aboriginal artifacts. Thank you Delores for allowing us to display some of your wonderful pieces of art etc. The display even brought out the soft side of Felix. Felix was spotted curling up next to” Bandit “our soft toy version of Smokey. Unfortunately the month of love hasn’t cured Felix unwelcoming nature towards Smokey. Keep watch this month as the facility receives a bit of a facelift. The painting of the front of the building has been scheduled to commence in the last week of February. A replacement sign for the front of the premises has also been ordered. Until next month Dawn

Happy February everyone.

February is the month of love .Not only for the couples of New Auckland place but for

the staff, resident and visitors as we celebrate Smokey being with us for one Year. I

can only wish and hope that we have brought as much love and joy to Smokey’s life

as he has brought to ours. ♥♥

I would like to say congratulations to the staff & residents of Boyne North. It was

certainly a great team effort in decorating the lift area and the main lounge area for

Australia day. It was great to see some Australian animals come and live with us for

a short period of time, as well as a great display of Aboriginal artifacts. Thank you

Delores for allowing us to display some of your wonderful pieces of art etc.

The display even brought out the soft side of Felix. Felix was spotted curling up next

to” Bandit “our soft toy version of Smokey. Unfortunately the month of love hasn’t

cured Felix unwelcoming nature towards Smokey.

Valentine’s Day

The most popular theory about Valentine's Day's origin is that Emperor Claudius II didn't want Roman men to marry during wartime. Bishop Valentine went against his wishes and performed secret weddings. For this, Valentine was jailed and executed. While in jail he wrote a note to the jailor's daughter signing it "from your Valentine". Based on retail statistics, about 3 per cent of pet owners will give gifts to their pets on this day.

In 1537, England's King Henry VII officially declared Feb. 14 the holiday of St. Valentine's Day.

Residents Condiments Residents who have their own food condiments provided by family members or bought in from outside the facility are requested to hand them in to servery staff so a resident label can be put on the condiment bottle.

Disabled parking is available

at the facility. This dedicated

car park is located at the

undercover area at the front

of the building

STREET PARKING

Recently the Council has

removed bollards to allow

cars access to park on the

grassed area to the left hand

side of the building.

If there are no available

parking places at the front of

the facility, visitors are able

to park in this grassed area

to avoid parking in the street.

Laundry Service

The facility laundry operates daily, including weekends, however resident’s personal clothing is only laundered and delivered between Monday and Friday. The laundry operates on the weekend for facility linen only.

Importantly residents should have at least seven sets of clothing, pj’s etc. Please allow 5-7 days for the return of personal clothing items.

This year for Valentine’s Day we held a Morning Tea for our lovely couples from

NAP in the Eden Room.

Our wonderful volunteer Pat came to entertain everyone with her beautiful

keyboard music.

The residents enjoyed some delicious puff pastry and cream creations from the

kitchen and everyone joined in with some singing and dancing.

Barry quizzed the couples on some Valentine’s Day Trivia questions and many

residents won a prize!

A very enjoyable time was had by all.

Monthly Cooking

Our Lifestyle Cooking Activity for the month of February had residents joining in to

make Ham and Vegetable Muffins.

The residents enjoyed chopping, grating, peeling and stirring the ingredients before

we put them in the oven to be baked.

Everyone voted they were a success with many residents staying to enjoy the muffins

with a cuppa.

Reminder from Laundry

Our residents often receive new clothing / blankets / etc. as gifts throughout the year. Please remember

that the facility provides laundry services for resident’s personal clothing utilizing industrial machines. All

care is taken however; the facility will not accept responsibility for loss or damage to any clothing.

It is necessary that resident clothing is labeled prior / upon entry and also during their stay. The facility

has a labeling system in place; please see reception for this service.

Relatives are welcome to take laundry home if they prefer.

Valuables

On admission an inventory is taken of all jewelry and valuable belongings. Whilst all care is taken to

safeguard your belongings, we do not take responsibility for loss or damage and we suggest that items of

significant or sentimental value are not kept in the aged care residence. In the event that they are,

personal insurance is recommended.

To ensure Smokey stays healthy.

Please do not feed Smokey any

food that has not been supplied by

the facility.

THE NAP NOTICE BOARD

A reminder that ALL VISITORS to our facility MUST SIGN IN AND OUT. This is for your

safety and it is mandatory with no exceptions. The sign in/out books are located in

foyer/reception areas. Please note ALL care recipient’s leaving the facility need to sign in

out in the Care Recipient’s Day Pass register as leaving, then sign in again upon their

return. Again this is for the safety and security and is so important.
