Interschool Athletics 2019

Tuesday 7th May was the Jumps, Throws and Distance events of the 2019 Interschool Athletics Carnival being held at Swan View Primary School. There was chill in the air but the enthusiasm of our students was glowing. Greenmount Primary School students were keen to compete against other schools in the district to gauge their athleticism.

Greenmount students acquitted themselves with distinction. There were outstanding efforts by all the Greenmount athletes.

Greenmount Primary was a close second after the conclusion of the day’s events.

A warmer start to the day greeted our competitors on Thursday. Juniors were the first to compete. Our young ones ran their hearts out to gain valuable places in their Individual sprint races and team games. They were very pleased with all the ribbons that they had won.

The Intermediate and Senior competitors were the next to compete. Greenmount competed well in the sprint races. There were some pleasant surprises in the sprint races as our school cheered and willed our competitors to greater heights.

Greenmount Primary finished in 2nd place overall. St Anthony’s finished 1st, Middle Swan 3rd place and 4th went to Swan View. The Team Games Trophy went to St Anthony’s and Swan View won the Handicap Trophy.

Some outstanding individual efforts saw many Greenmount children obtain themselves Champion or Runner-up Champion for their age groups.

Abbey Jeater – Year 1 Champion Girl Rafa Holland Zumel – Runner-up Year 1 Boys Champion Logan Milsteed – Year 1 Champion Boy Savanah Thorburn – Runner-up Year 3 Girls Champion James Saunders – Year 3 Champion Boy Anthony Punaivaha – Year 4 Champion Boy Penelope Punaivaha – Year 5 Champion Girl Saraya Digney – Year 5 Runner-up Champion Girl Lachy Saunders – Year 5 Champion Boy Rejoyce Iloh – Year 6 Girl Champion Girl

It was a great effort by all our competitors. They all deserve a pat on the back. Thank you to the parents who helped out with Team Games training (let’s do it again). A big thank you to Mrs McEwen, Mrs Digney and Miss Nelson. Mr Hodgson
