What we’ve been doing this week …

STORYTELLING IN RECEPTION The Reception children have been re-telling stories this week. They have read ‘The Gingerbread Man’ and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ and acted the stories out in class and on the stage! In other news, Mr Twort was caught mucking around in the reception Mud Kitchen – making leaf soup with the children!

Weekly Attendance

Our whole school attendance this week is 95.5%

This year, our target is to be above national average (95.6%) every week. Thank you for your efforts in helping us improve attendance figures.

Can we ask that all medical appointments be booked for after 2.00pm so that your child’s attendance is not affected.

Thank you for your ongoing support with this vitally important area.

YEAR 2 STUDY SCIENCE Year 2 were scientists this week! They investigated different materials and discovered the properties of each one. Next they are going to decide why certain materials are more appropriate for different purposes. YEAR 4 GET A TASTE OF GREECE “On Wednesday 2nd October, I went on a trip to Zorbas restaurant in Coventry. My favourite part was when we had lunch. We ate pitta bread, carrot and cucumber sticks with houmous and 2 other dips.” Jayden

“I really liked the trip. My favourite bit was the Olympic Cucumber Squeezing because it was fun. I also liked trying the Greek food because of the things I had never tried before! It was very exciting.” Hannah

NEWS FROM OUR FOREST SCHOOL

This week, Elder class has enjoyed feeding the animals, and learning how to tie a simple knot called a cow hitch. They have followed a trail made from natural materials and have loved digging up worms of all different shapes and sizes!

PTA Update We are asking all parents and carers to please donate chocolate for our “Chocolate Tombola” at the Autumn Fair. You can donate anything chocolatey – from a small bar, to a box, tin or even a hamper!

Then come along to the Autumn Fair on Saturday 19th October and visit the Tombola stall to win back a tasty choccy treat! All money raised will go towards our playground renovation project! Please bring all chocolate donations to the school office by Thursday 17th October 2019!

Sports Update GIRLS FOOTBALL CLUB Just a reminder that due to several inter-school competitions taking place on Tuesday after school. the Girls Football Club will recommence on Tuesday 12th November. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. BOYS FOOTBALL CLUB The Boys Football Club will be cancelled on Monday 7th October due to an after school competition. LET’S GET WALKING! October is National Walk to School Month! We’d like to encourage all children to dig out their wellies and walk to school.

THE MOOR GREEN MILE

This week 26 children took part, and between them have ran a total of 52.5 miles! Well done all! Remember if you would like to take part, there are new consent forms available at the school office.
