PRESIDENT’S NOTE

Spring is upon us and daylight saving's time is only a week away. The weather doesn't seem to care because it's still cold and wet. Like the wet, hate the cold. It's time to get the Hot Rods out and cleaned up. I'm sure it will be a busy summer of car shows and activity. Stay tuned for what's happening. Sometimes there isn't much notice to what is go-ing on due to our getting the info late. See you at the March meeting. Bob

EDITOR’S CORNER

Due to our President’s hard work, we had a great Valentine’s Day Dine Out at the 2300 Restaurant. Not only does he function as President, but he also puts a lot of effort into this dine out event that we all look forward to. Thank you, Bob and Millie for all the good work you do. Take a look at a great little rare ‘66 ‘Cuda with a hot Slant 6 that’s for sale in this issue, as well as a little red fire truck with a 454 Rat Motor. This cold weather has sure put a damper on events. Your friendly editor was laboring under the misconcep-tion that we were over the hump as far as winter weather was concerned. Boy, was he wrong!! Stephanie Meyer’s Car Show at the Georgetown airport had to be rescheduled for March 14, and our old ‘Survivor “Vette has not been out of the garage for weeks, and feels neglected. There are not too many photos this month, just those from that great Valentine’s Day Dine Out. We had hoped to squeeze in pictures from Stephanie Meyer’s show as the capping event for February, but Global Warming froze us out. Oops, my mistake, It’s now called “CLIMATE CHANGE”. Guess it’s still all our fault, us with our gas-guzzling old cars, with their gi-gantic carbon foot print. Wonder when antique cars and rods will be declared illegal.

LATE BREAKING NEWS

Ron Adwers sent the following good news update on Shirley: I am happy to report that Shirley came home yesterday (Thursday) afternoon after spending 3 days at Seton Hospital on 38th and Lamar in Austin. She is doing much better and is once again able to eat some solid food in limited quantities. An exact diagnosis has never been handed down to us common people, but strong dos-es of the antibiotics are working. She hopes to be up and active in the near future. Thank you for your con-cern. [Ed. Note: You can help cheer Shirley and Ron up and maybe speed her recovery by sending a card to their

home address, and sending prayers their way.]

MORE LATE BREAKING NEWS

This past Jan.19th, 2015, Max Cardenas Sr. was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. The only treatments available to him are very expensive and he is unable to work at this time. We of Lake Area Rods And Classics are going to join in for a fund raiser for Max Sr. Most all of you know the little lady that seats you then massages your back, she is a very sweet person. Max is the little Mexican gentleman who takes your order, never gets it wrong, never lets your water glass get empty, is always spot on as a server/ waiter, a very unassuming person. This is Max of The Maxican. On Tues., March 3rd the club is going to meet at Cecil Atkisson at 3:30 p.m. then leave Cecil's at 3:45 and caravan over to the Maxican to help promote this event. There will be a BBQ plate for a $10 donation, music by Ben Watson and a silent auction. Our club has been invited to participate by Max Jr. of Bill's Burgers, Wings and Things. They are both proud sponsors of our 2015 car show, so I'm asking all y'all to show up and help out in anyway we can, then eat some great BBQ listen to some fine music, then get an "all warm and fuzzy feeling" cause we all did something kind and spe-cial for someone in need. Any questions call Mark Kidd. See you at Cecil's

FOR SALE—A LITTLE RED FIRE ENGINE

Ron Adwers recently went to a recent board meeting of the Hoover Valley Fire Department. The board an-nounced that one of the light duty trucks with a 454 engine is going to be advertised for an auction sale in the Highlander News Paper very soon. It might be an opportunity for someone in your club to get a 454 V8. Anyone interested might find out more about the sale by contacting one of the board members. In case any member is interested in a little fire truck, Ron is probably the person to contact.
