Service of Remembrance November 3 ~ 3:00 p.m.

at Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City You are invited to attend the annual holiday Service of Remembrance. This is an opportunity for families to come together once again in tribute and memory of their loved ones. It will be held at Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City at 3:00 p.m.

“Cash for Class” Program

Novesta is enrolled in the “Cash for Class” program at Vg’s store. During the week of October 20-26 and November 17-23 purchases you make with Vg’s ‘yes’ card will automatically be credited to our church’s account. You need to be linked to Novesta’s account. You can do this on-line. There is more information on the bulletin board on how to do this. The Cash for Class program does not interfere with your ‘yes’ card points earned or points ex-changed. You will continue to get ad savings and points and it will not cost you any money to partici-pate and help our youth.

BIBLE BOWL is coming to Novesta! Come on out and join us for a day of competition. We will be having our monthly round robin here on the 2nd of November. It will be a great oppor-tunity for anyone to come and watch our teams compete in our regular state round robin tour-nament. The games will begin around 11, break for lunch and then resume about 12:30 p.m. Anyone and everyone is welcome. We would love to see you all come out and support these young kids as they are challenged to learn and memorize the books of Joshua, Judges and Ruth this year. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Speirs for more info.

T-Shirts & Sweatshirts Our T-shirts need updating, so we will once again be ordering new ones. If you are inter-ested, there is a sign up sheet in the education hallway. T-shirts will start at $8.00, hooded and regular sweatshirts

are also available. Orders will be taken until Oc-tober 25h. Any questions, please contact Karen Speirs.

Mission Trip to Woodburn October 18th – 20th

We are now in the commitment stage for our mission trip to Woodburn Christian Chil-dren’s Home in Indiana in a few weeks. We’re looking to put together a group of people that can go down and help them with the running of their annual auction. The group will be leaving early Friday morning and returning Sunday afternoon. The costs for this trip will be minimal and the results will be long-lasting and life-changing. If you’re looking to serve and want to meet a real need, this trip might be for you. Please talk to Brad Speirs or Ray Peasley as soon as possible. There is a new sign-up sheet for the trip in the middle hallway!

We are so happy to congratulate the following ones who have committed their life to Christ as they were immersed in Christian baptism following Christ’s ex-ample. Seth Mika was immersed on September 15 and his sister, Kirsten on September 22. They are the children of Greg & Jodie Mika and live at 4680 Green Road. Also baptized on September 22 was Lucas Lester, son of Greg Lester. Lucas lives with his dad next door to his grandpa & grandma, Duane & Marilyn Lester at 6672 Severance Road. Please pray for others that need to make similar decisions and commitments.

POSITIVE ALTERNATIVES This summer the volunteers at Positive Alternatives have heard stories of pressured abortion, abortion because of age, school girl who wants to finish high school, college stu-dents who “have just one more year until graduation,” miscarriages, still birth, prema-ture birth and moms with special needs. What a blessing to have this Christ Centered Ministry in our area. If you would like to be a volunteer contact April, the director, at

989-672-4673, 989-269-6760 or [email protected]. SVSU CAMPUS MINISTRY In Troy’s newsletter he writes about the college students born since 1990 known as the “Generation iY” the i denotes iPhones, iPods, iPads, etc., as well as the cultural focus on self. About 5 years ago there was a noticeable shift in students, they were starting to think differently than all the students who came before them. Troy suggests reading the book Generation iY by Tim Elmore to get a better un-derstanding of this generation. Campus Ministry continues to adjust and grow and learn, so they can keep teaching the timeless truth through culturally relevant ways that connect with them. Here is a thank you note from Troy: “Thank you so much for being a faithful part of my regular support team. You have truly been a blessing to us! We appreciate you very much! May God bless your church! Love in Christ,

Troy Andreasen

We have two of our young people involved in mission work. Amber Warju left for Haiti Sept. 15th. She had spent her summer as an intern at Northwest Haiti Christian Mission. She was asked to return this fall and God opened doors for her to do that. Amber will be helping with the website, taking photos, and making videos as well as ministering at the orphan-age Mariam Center, and other ministries that she fell in love with over the Summer. Amber desires your prayers for the two months that she is in Haiti. Tom Mittlestat felt called to serve God in mission work. Tom left for California Sept. 16th to join YWAM “Youth With A Mission.” This organization is a global movement of Christians from many cul-tures, age groups and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Tom will receive three months of mission training at the Discipleship Training School. While in training he will be involved in local ministry outreach.

Adult Bible Study - “Not a Fan “

We’re inviting all adults to join us for a great study that challenges us to consider what really means to call our-selves Christians. Brad will be leading the discussion time as we watch a short video by Kyle Idleman and get deep on what it means to not just be a ‘fan’ of Jesus, but to become a Completely Committed Follower. We hope to see you on Sunday nights @ 6 PM in the auditorium.

High School Bible Study Jesse Bucholtz is going to be leading our 9th – 12th grade students on a great journey this Fall. The group is going to meet and talk about real life faith issues and dive in to God’s word to find His answers on these tough subjects.

Jr. High Bible Study Garold & Jamie Peasley will be leading our 7th – 8th grade students as they seek to learn more about Jesus and his love for them. Garold & Jamie do a tremendous job of caring for their students by providing a challeng-ing lesson and fun games. If you have a youngster that’s in Jr. High, you owe to them to bring them to this great group!

Jim & Jerry Knoblet would like to thank the Novesta Church of Christ for their prayers, love and support provided to our brother Tim Knoblet over the years (It is approximately 54 years, that is the number of years Tim attended Novesta C/C). We would like to extend a spe-cial thanks to the Littles, Speirs and McIntosh families that have been especially helpful and caring. We want to draw your attention to a couple letters on the bulletin board from former stu-dents that are doing work in missions around the world (Amber Warju & Tom Mittlestat). Be sure to stop and read their letters and thank you notes to our congregation.

The ladies are using the book, “Becoming a Woman of Simplicity” by Cynthia Heald. This timely study shows you that, yes, a simpler life is not only possible, it’s vital! Women of all ages are welcome to join us for fellowship and study AND it’s not to late to join in.

The men are currently studying the Sermon on the Mount. This group of men are trying to challenge each other to grow deeper in the word and to hold each other account-able!

Family Game Night

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19

6:00 P.M. Please note the new day and time. We are going to try having our Family Game Night on Saturday evening during Football season. Some of our teens are in the game and others (adults included) like to go to the games. We are hoping to have a better turn-out by changing the day. The time is changed to 6:00 p.m. so that we will not be as late (that way we won’t be tired for church Sun-day morning).

Everything else will be the same with the potluck first and then the games. Hope this works better for everyone and that you can join us for an evening of great fun and fellow-ship.
