The 2020 school year is in full swing. It is hard to believe that we are at mid-March already. The recent rain has been such a welcome relief and the green has definitely bought a fresh change to everyone’s mood. Pity about all the catheads though but we are working on that problem.

Students have been very busy – attending numerous sporting activities (netball, basketball, cricket, chess & swimming), social support sessions (Drum Beat, Through our Eyes), talks by Olympians (Stage 5 students) and of course attending quality lessons. Planning for the upcoming Stage 4 Camp is also now completed and looks set to again be a great experience.

Following on from the last newsletter I would again like to mention attendance. Apart from being compulsory, it is near impossible to maximise a child’s learning potential if they are not at school. From the start of Yr. 7, 1 day absent per week will equate to one full year of absence by the time they finish Yr.11. Our students will not get away with this when they enter the workforce. It is imperative that we as a school community work together to ensure that our students have good attendance. I am more than willing to discuss this further with anyone who has any questions.

Another good habit that will benefit our students when they enter the workforce is wearing uniform. I must say that it is very pleasing to see that the vast majority of our students do this on a regular basis and look fantastic as a group. We still have a number of students who continue to wear tights and football paraphernalia (eg Rooster shirts, shorts). These items never have been and never will be part of our uniform – end of story. Shoes must also be full black leather – no white strips. Financial assistance for school uniform is available upon request.
