Helping children be the best they can be Dear Parents, Governors and Children, OUR NEXT HOLIDAY – LATE SPRING BANK We break for Spring Bank Holiday on Friday 24 th May at 3.30 p.m. and we re-open on Monday 3 rd June at 8.45 a.m. There are NO training da ys attached to these holidays. SCHOOL MEALS AND OUTSTANDING DEBTSThank you very much to the vast majority of parents who support our systems for payment of school meals by paying for their children’s meals in the week the meals are eaten. Monday is always the best day to pay but so long as the meals taken are paid by the end of the week this is fine as we appreciate some parents don’t get paid until Friday. You can always call and speak to us if there is a problem on any given week. However, this term we have seen an increasing amount of children requiring a school meal which are not paid for in the same week and are running up considerable debts. Currently the school is owed over £700.00 in outstanding dinner money – We are sorry but we cannot continue allowing children to eat meals which are not paid for. The outstanding individual debts have been passed to the DMBC creditors at close of school today and proceedings to collect any outstanding money will be organised by the Councils debt collection services. We do text out weekly and send letters to remind people of outstanding money and will continue to do this. However what we will no longer do is allow children to eat meals for a second week if the first is not paid for. Therefore you will need to pay for the meals, send your child with a packed lunch or alternatively collect them at lunch time and take them home for their lunch. For parents who do not make provision for their child’s lunch we will ring through the contact numbers on your admission form and ask for the children to be collected and fed at home. ATTENDANCE Congratulations to PURPLE CLASS for winning the “Best in School” attendance award for the first time last week with 99.7% attendance! The whole class will be rewarded with a visit to TOCKs club. Overall school attendance went up again last week and is now 93.6%. Well done everyone, our target is 95%, so please help the school to reach this target by attending school every day. Overall this half term has seen the whole school attendance increase from 93.3% to 93.6% You can check your class’s attendance levels on the school website. SPRING INTO SCHOOL ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE Congratulations to the winner of the “Spring into School” attendance challenge, who won a £20 shopping voucher to share with their family, just for coming to school every day! Look out for further challenges and keep coming to school every single day for your chance to win.

Please remember that until the end of this academic year, holidays in term time canonly be authorised if your child has over 95% attendance. From September, norequests for holidays can be authorised at all, except in exceptional circumstancesfor which written evidence must be provided.Fixed penalty notices will be issued if unauthorised holidays are taken in term time.

ABSENCEPlease remember to contact school as early as possible if your child is going tobe absent due to illness to avoid any unauthorised absences.

TOMBOLA DONATIONS FOR SPORTS DAYSOnce again we are hoping to have a tombola and refreshments stall at all our SportsDays, and we would appreciate donations of suitable items to use as prizes for this. All our Sports Events will be held in the afternoon, from 1.30 p.m. onwards, on thefollowing days;Reception – Monday 24th June Year 1 & 2 – Tuesday 25th JuneYear 3 & 4 – Wednesday 26th June Year 5 & 6 – Thursday 27th JuneNursery parents will be notified separately of their events. We hope you can make it.

NAMES IN CLOTHINGAs the weather (hopefully) improves, and the children get more chance to play onthe field, can we ask that you make sure their names are in their clothing. They taketheir cardigans and jumpers off and leave them outside, so when we bring them in

we have no idea who they belong to. If your child has ‘lost’ their jumper, please feelfree to look in the cloakrooms after school. If items are names, we will do our best to

return them. Thank you for your co-operation.

HOT WEATHER - HATS, WATER BOTTLES AND SUN CREAMPlease remember to send your child with a hat for the sun, and a waterbottle now the hot weather has decided to come back. Wide neckedbottles can be filled from the water coolers in school. Please remember to

put your child’s name in the hat. Also, putting sun cream on your childbefore they leave home the morning would be a good idea if you feel they need it.

Boots currently have a half-price offer on their Soltan 8-hour sun cream. It is called ‘Once – kids8 hour play sun cream’, which is SPF Factor 50+ and protects against UVB rays. Thank you.

UPDATE TO EMERGENCY NUMBERS AND ADDRESSES We are experiencing difficulties at the moment contacting parentswhen their child is ill, or left behind from an after-school club oractivity. Please make sure, if you change your mobile number, oreven move house, that you let school know. Thank you.
