Dear Families,
Emergency Planning
Last week our Yr4-6s spent the day at MtBPS
with the focus on emergency preparedness.
The students had an engaging day working in
small groups.
A strong message from the day was to ensure
that your family has it’s own plan in case of an
emergency. With the upcoming bushfire
season close this is a timely reminder to make
sure your properties are ready.
At school we will be having an evacuation drill
in coming weeks and we ask families to check
that their emergency contact details are up to
date. It is essential that you have a secondary
contact in case you are out of town. This could
be another parent if you do not have family
close by.
3/4 Howmans Gap Camp
Students in Years 3/4 have been given details
regarding the camp to Howmans Gap from
Wed 6th—Fri 8th November. Please action
this immediately so we can confirm numbers.
Payment is now due. Payments plans can be
arranged through the office. Payments can
also be made on Compass.
Lisa Office Hours
This term Lisa will be in the office on Tuesdays
and Wednesdays. If you need any uniform
items, banking queries or other please see her
then.
School Banking
With Lisa working Wednesdays now instead of
Thursdays, school banking will change to
Wednesday for the remainder of this year. If
you child has a CBA Dollarmite account and
you would like to promote good savings habits
have them drop their bank book into the office
on Wednesdays with money to deposit and
Lisa will take care of it
for them.
State Athletics
Alec and Eddy are off to
the State Track and
Field Championships in
Melbourne on Thursday
after placing 1st at
Regionals. Best of luck boys.
Student Teacher
Next week we will have another student
teacher working at our school for 17 days. Josh
Kable used to be a student at our school and is
excited to be returning . He will be working
mainly with the junior students.
Pupil Free Day
A reminder that Monday 4th November is our
last Pupil Free day of the year. Staff will be
working with the other schools in our cluster to
complete a Cultural Understanding and
Sensitive Training program.
Production
The students were introduced to the script
yesterday and given information regarding
costume ideas. There was a lot of excitement
around the storyline. We are on the look out
for some large, sturdy cardboard boxes if your
have anything lying around.

3 sounds of –ed
At the end of a word—ed can make 3 sounds:
1. /id/ - when after a d or t. E.g. tested,
handed.
2. /d/ - when after voiced consonants such as
w and l. E.g. flowed, sailed.
3. /t/ after unvoiced consonants or digraphs
such as p, and ch, and s or z. E.g. bumped,
switched, passed.
MSL Mathlete of the Week
Well done to all our past Mathlete of the
Week recipients. This term Mrs Franzke is
encouraging those students who have never
had the award to do their best and see if they
can get it this term. The prize box has been
restocked after the Bookfair with some
stationery goodies.
Well done to Eddy who was our Mathlete of
the Week in Week 2.
Making Day
Making Day has started again and will be on Thursday
from 11.30 - 1pm.
Last week the Prep - Year 2s made yummy pizzas for the
whole school.
This week our gardening group will be busy planting out
our veggie garden and the making group will be starting
planning for our production props.
The Yr 3-6 students were highly engaged listening to Tim Cope speak last week. Many have returned to school with their own copy of Tim’s new book. We have given a signed copy of ’Tim and Tigon’ for our own library.
