Dear Families,
Ski Program
Full payment for skiing is due by Thursday 28th June.
Lisa has sent invoices home this week. Parent
volunteers will receive a letter next week outlining
expectations and an invitation to a pre skiing
information session.
Families should be getting ready by checking they
have all the appropriately fitting ski clothing. We
have some spare gear at school. Please come and see
me if you would like to borrow something for the
season. If you find your child has outgrown
something and you would like to donate it to school
that would be appreciated.
Mt Beauty PS have their annual ski sale this weekend
you might find something that suits.
Gear check day will be Thursday 22nd June.
Uniform Policy
The change in weather has highlighted the need to
remind families that we have a School Council
Approved Uniform Policy.
A uniform dress code reinforces in students pride in
their own appearance, instils recognition of
themselves as an integral part of the school
community, and assists in developing pride in
representing their school. Issues of equality, health
and safety, and expense are also factors that
contribute to the establishment of the Dress Code.
Further details of acceptable uniform items are listed
later in the newsletter.
If families are experiencing difficulty in getting
the correct uniform item please come to speak
with me as we will try and work out a solution.
Items that are not acceptable include jeans,
cardigans, multi coloured long sleeved tops
under school tops.
As of next week staff will be enforcing our
uniform policy more closely.
Open Week 31st July - 4th August
If you are interested in assisting as a parent
volunteer to organise an aspect of the program,
assist with events or promote our Open Week I
would like to hear from you. We will be running
our annual Scholastic Book Fair. We would like
to organise an open evening for families and I
have a few other ideas. Please speak with me if
you would like further information or you have
an idea.
Tawonga Kindergarten
Expression of interest forms are now available at
the school office for 2018 enrolments. If
families know of anyone who would like to enrol
for 2018 please pass this information on.
School Crossing Campaign
If families would like to get on board and
support the school in our campaign please join
the online conversation at
engage.vicroads.vic.gov.au . Drop a pin on our
school to show your support.
Breaking News - We have been invited to
present to the Shire next Tuesday a short
presentation as to why we believe a
School Crossing supervisor is necessary.
Jos and I will be meeting tomorrow at
10am to work on our presentation if any
other parents would like to join us.

The Dress Code applies during school hours, while travelling to and from school, and when students are on school excursions.
Stud earrings, sleepers worn in the ears, subtle necklace plus watches are the only acceptable jewellery (They are not to be worn as a fashion accessory).
Other than clear nail polish, cosmetics may not be worn at school.
The only headwear that is acceptable is Sunsmart hats consistent with our Sunsmart policy. Hats are not to be worn inside.
The student Dress Code, including details of uniform items will be published in the newsletter at the start of each year and availa-ble on the website.
School Council requires the Principal be responsible for implementation of the Dress Code in a manner consistent with the Stu-dent Code of Conduct.
Arrangements can be made to supply uniforms via State Schools Relief for families experiencing economic hardship.
Parents seeking exemptions to the Dress Code due to religious beliefs, ethnic or cultural background, student disability, health condition or economic hardship must apply in writing to the School Council for consideration.
Second hand uniforms are available free of charge to families in need.
Parents and students will be advised of specific uniform requirements via the newsletter at least one week prior.
Students have the opportunities to be involved in ’out of uniform’ days during the school year.
On school photo days and cluster sports day’s students are asked to wear the gold (not navy) shirt.
Year 6s will have the option each year to design their own tops.
Students without correct uniform and without a note from home will be given a second hand uniform to wear for the day.
The gardening group made two giant
compost piles which we are going to watch
over the coming weeks to see how they
change. The students used great
teamwork skills.
The cooking group made a yummy cheesy
pasta dish to warm everyone up and a
dessert of yum yum balls.
The making group were
again busy putting final
touches to the
‘thongaphone’ and starting a
new project which they will
be working on over the com-
ing weeks. There was lots of
sawing, painting a measur-
ing.
