Newsletter Term 1 Week 1 Welcome back to Cringila Public School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing break and the students are well rested ready for an exciting and busy term ahead. I would like to welcome our new families and students. It was wonderful to see the smiles on all of the students this morning, especially our new Kindergarten students. I would like to welcome Mr Michael Chin to Cringila Public School. Mr Chin will be relieving as the K-6 Assistant Principal. We are very fortunate to have such an experienced teacher in this role. We also welcome Mrs Cassandra Timms who will be relieving as the School Administrative Manager for Term 1. 2019 Class Structures As mentioned at the end of last year, we envisaged an enrolment of 144 students to begin 2019. Today we had 143 students return to Cringila Public School. Based on Department of Education enrolment guidelines, we only have enough students for 6 classes. However to ensure a settled start to our students, we will start the year in 7 classes for Term 1. If we can retain these numbers, we will remain in 7 classes for the rest of the year. Due to the high numbers in Kindergarten, they will begin as one class for the first three days and then some students will move to the Year 1 class to make a K/1 class. To keep our numbers in classes aligned to the Department of Education’s size guidelines, we will also need to make some composite classes. All classes will be of mixed ability and students will be carefully placed in classes to meet their individual needs. We are aiming to have our classes finalised by the end of the week. If your child’s teacher will be changing, we will contact you. We thank you for your understanding with this matter. The following are the staffing arrangements for 2019. Health Care plans The wellbeing of our students is of upmost importance. It is essential that the school is kept up to date with student’s current medical conditions. To ensure this, letters and plans have been sent to all parents who have indicated on the enrolment form that their child has a medical condition. If you received a letter, please ensure you have visited your General Practitioner and completed the health care plan/s and return them to school. Thank you for your assistance in helping us support your children. Swimming Carnival The Cringila Public School swimming carnival will be held on Friday 8th February from12:30-3:00 at Port Kembla Pool.
