Review of our Homework Policy As a school, we are continually reflecting on our current practices. We are going to review our Homework Policy and seek the input from staff, students and parents reflecting on current practices. The staff and students have completed surveys at school and we are asking parents to use the following link; https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSelPJ7yL1Nw6ca0yzRuUF1Tx3bXyabghjMI0fDnCDvWW4JdMg/viewform?usp=sf_link which is also on the Facebook page to complete a very short survey. We will also be discussing the Department of Education’s Homework Policy at the Parent Meeting on Wednesday. Parent Meeting Our final Parent Meeting for the year will be held this Wednesday 28 November 2018 at 9:00am in the Learning Hub.

At this meeting we will discuss the following matters;

Parent Survey

2019 class structures Homework Policy

End of year events

Update on the underground hotspot

Please join us at this meeting to find out more about our wonderful school. A note was sent home last week regarding this meeting. Stage 3 Overnight Excursion to Canberra Last week 32 students from Stage 3 embarked on their first overnight educational tour of the nation's capital city. Students participated in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. They visited the National Museum of Australia, The Parliament House, The War Memorial, The Institute of Sport and Questacon. Our bus driver was very generous and he also showed us many other special and interesting places around Canberra along the way. It was an amazing experience for Stage 3 and they have made lovely memories. A huge thank you to Mrs Tancevski for her outstanding organisation of this event and to Mr Piper, Mrs Tancevski and Mrs Giles for taking time away from their families and accompanying the

students on this wonderful experience. To view the fun we had, please view the photos on our school webpage. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government contributed funding of $20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate has been paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion. End of Year Concert

This year, the students at Cringila Public School are staging a musical production! The performance will be a mix of choir, dance, acting and singing and will involve every student in the school. “To Be Me” is a comedy with heart all about listening to that voice inside of you and your parents! We are inviting our school community to attend the performance and support all the hard work our students have been putting in. When: Tuesday 18th December Where: Cringila Public School hall Time: 1:15pm

Hope to see you there. Mr H. Piper

Research has proven that quality teaching improves student outcomes. Teaching is a profession where we are fortunate to be offered continual learning opportunities to improve the way we teach our students. Sometimes this learning takes place during school times, which means your child may be taught by a different teacher. The teachers are also participating in a series of workshops outside of school hours to build their knowledge of teaching students from a refugee background. Over the next fortnight, teachers will be involved in the following professional learning opportunities. Week 7 Monday Finance and Budgeting Mrs Giles and Mrs Pearson Week 7 Wednesday Science Syllabus implementation All teachers Week 7 Thursday EAL/D network meeting Mrs Elhage Week 8 Thursday PBL network meeting Mrs Elhage Weekly attendance average At Cringila Public School, we aim for our students to average a weekly attendance rate of 93%. Over the past two weeks, we averaged a 92% attendance rate. Very close but just missed our goal! Please ensure your child is at school every day to maximise their learning opportunities.

Warrawong High School news

13 November 2018

Dear Parents / Carers You may be aware that over the past year, parents, students and staff have been engaged in a comprehensive consultation process with regards to the introduction of a new School Uniform at Warrawong High School. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I am able to provide you with further information regarding the implementation of our new school uniform, which commences from 2019. After reviewing the current school uniform and embarking on the design of a new school uniform, the review team developed a set of key selection criteria that would underpin all considerations with respect of the development and implementation of a new school uniform, these included: quality, value, practicality and inclusivity. The school review team believes that the new school uniform meets with all of these criteria. Attached are images of the summer uniform (both junior and senior) and sports uniform for your perusal. As the other items become available including the girls dress and winter uniform we will continue to communicate to our community. To showcase our uniform we will be presenting to our school community for our new year 6 students on their Orientation day on Tuesday 4th December 2018 in the Warrawong high school hall. We anticipate a further information evening and showcase to our current Year 10 students in the last few weeks of school. Daylight (our uniform provider) has commenced the fit out of the new uniform shop within the school library of Warrawong High School and is currently working closely with the school to ensure that the new uniform is available for purchase prior to the start of the 2019 academic year. Store opening dates and times for the purchase of School uniform will be communicated as they become available. In 2019 all Year 7 and 11 students and newly enrolled students to our school will be expected to wear the new school uniform. The take up of the new school uniform is encouraged across the other Year groups enrolled at Warrawong. In 2022, all Warrawong students will be expected to wear the new school uniform with the subsidised included. To aide families in the initial purchase of uniform we, School Executive have agreed to subsidise all school uniform in the initial stages of implementation. Please see the included price list with the subsidised prices. In addition to the introduction of the new school uniform, students, staff and parents have been involved in the creation of a new School Logo, which has been ratified at School executive. Please note the new attachment. The SRC are now in the process of reviewing our school motto and values to further build and promote our school identity within the wider School community. The new school uniform and logo is an excellent result for our school as part of lifting our image in the local and broader community. The introduction of the new school uniform will adhere to Department of Education guidelines. This policy is available by following the link: https://education.nsw.gov.au/policy-library/policies/school-uniform-policy We look forward to high levels of community support and excitement in continuing to build our school’s identity within a rich and diverse community. Yours faithfully Brad Hughes Principal
