Welcome back
Welcome back to term 4! It’s hard to believe that we are already
at the end of the year.
It’s a very busy term. The term planner was sent home last week
and was also posted on the Facebook page. If you did not receive
one, or have misplaced yours, please call into the office to pick
up a new one.
This term I will be taking a week’s Long Service Leave in Week 4.
Mrs Robinson will capably look after things while I am away.
Tell Them from Me Survey
Thank you to the parents who took the time to complete the online
Tell Them from Me survey. The information and feedback we get in
this survey helps us plan for the future.
Congratulations to Lauren Chelman and Kiera Hector who were
the lucky winners of the $50 vouchers from Tarro Quality Meats.
Yr 6 mural
Last Friday the students in year 6 started working on their year 6 gift. This year they are
designing and painting a mural on the brick wall below the year 3 room. With help from
Shane Kennedy, who is a street artist, the mural will represent the community of Tarro and
reflect what is important to the school and the 2017 year 6 cohort.
New hall
The new hall was scheduled to arrive the first week back this term. At this stage there is a
hold up with transport. I am hoping everything will be finalised in the very near future so
that we can use this great new space before the end of the year.
New Noticeboard
There is now a noticeboard in the playground, the purpose of which is to let parents know
what is happening in each week, in every class in Reading, Writing and Maths. Please take
the time to have a look at what is going on in your child’s class and talk to them about
what they are learning. Effective home/school partnerships begin with conversations and
a shared understanding of what your child is learning.
Film production
Every Tuesday since the beginning of term 3, students
in all classes have been working with film students
from the University of Newcastle to create our own
feature film. The film project is part of our association
with the universities ‘Aim High’ program. In previous
years it has been science and maths based with
smaller groups of students. The suggestion was made
at the end of last year to create a film by both the
university and the school.
The students have had a significant amount of input into creating the scripts and making
the props. As filming progresses, the students will also have the chance to be involved in
the editing process.
The showing of the film will be on the evening of Thursday 30th November at the University
of Newcastle. Further details regarding showing time will be sent home later in the term.

Stuff the Bus
It’s that time of year again when we ask for donations to support
Rev Doug and St Paul’s Anglican Church. To coincide with the
Beresfield Community Christmas Fair on Saturday 2nd December,
we are asking for donations of non-perishable items to ‘stuff the
bus’.
We are asking that our classes bring in certain items:
6O soup baked beans
5P spaghetti tins pasta sauce
4K Pasta tinned fruit
3Y long life milk crackers
1/2D biscuits jam
K/1 H peanut butter longlife juice
KB past & sauce packets chips
At the beginning of week 5, the bus from FGHS will arrive to
collect our donations. Let’s get behind this great cause and see if
Tarro PS can collect the most donations in the Gateway Learning
Community.

PBL News Positive Behaviour for Learning
What PBL means to me
Year 6
PBL sounds like people talking to others about the PBL Lesson every week. It feels good to follow the PBL rules every week. It’s good to do PBL lessons because it changes our behaviour and makes people know more about positive behaviour and learning. It’s great getting rewards like FIT.
Cooper.
At Tarro Public School PBL has changed and helped a lot with our learning. And has showed that I can do my best with work and know that it helps with learning with others.
Shelby.
At Tarro Public School we have this thing called PBL which stands for Positive Behaviour for Learning. We pick an area on which we need to learn to fix, earlier in the year we had a problem with the schools’ toilets. We learned about it in class and announced it at assembly and everything’s been fine since, PBL is good in a way to improve our school.
Emilee-Rose
Year 3
At Tarro some people follow the five star rules. We like to be good sports. You can get your name moved up the chart two times to get a Bright. If you get ten Brights then you get a Green Bright.
Cruz
At Tarro PS PBL is following the 5 star rules. The rules are; I can listen, I can work quietly, and I can raise my hand and I can control what I do and say, I can follow the instructions. I think PBL is showing respect.
Jac
PBL means to me the 5 star rules. The 5 star rules are good because it stops people from being bad. It’s helpful to people and its cool to me. It helps me to be good.
Wyatt
PBL is a thing that some schools do and at Tarro PS it is about the 5 star rules. They are; I can listen, I can work quietly, I can raise my hand and wait, I can control what I do and say, and I can follow instructions. I feel that all schools should do PBL because it helps us learn and keep safe.
Hunter
K/1H
At Tarro Public School we follow the 5 star rules. We are listeners, can follow instructions and show respect to everyone. We can earn Brights for showing respect, responsibility and personal best.
Kindergarten
