Youth Basketball
The Bombers can’t wait until November 7th this year. That date is
significant because that is the date of the first official practice.
There has been a concerted effort to improve individually and as a
team since March 4th, 2015. The team knew after the night we lost
to Andrean in the Sectional Semi-Final that the expectations would
rise this coming year. Rensselaer returns everything from last
year’s team that ended the season 9-15. The team lost 6 games by a
handful of points. There is potential for this year to be special.
Once again, Rensselaer will host the sectional at the end of the
season with the hopes of cutting down their own net, for the
championship.

Program News Bomber Basketball Night The third annual Bomber Basketball Night will be held on November 15th. On this night, each player within the Bomber Basketball program will play. The evening begins with 4th & 5th grade teams from the RBYB youth league scrimmaging for 10-minute sessions. Immediately following that grade level will be the 6th grade, then 7th grade, and then 8th grade. Once the middle school session is over, the High School will scrimmage. The high school team session will be broken up into Freshman vs. JV and then Varsity vs. Varsity for their scrimmage. The Varsity team will also complete a couple of shooting drills prior to their scrimmage. This is a great way for the community to see the entire program in one night. We want to have excitement and kick off the season in the right way! Come out and see the Bombers in action, during Bomber Basketball Night. Admission to Bomber Basketball Night will be a canned food, which is donated to the Food Pantry.

Program Rosters Coming in December
Youth Nights Each RBYB team will have a chance to experience a Varsity boy’s basketball game this year first hand. The Varsity program invites each youth team to come in the locker prior to a specific game and watch the preparation of a varsity game take place. The youth teams for that night will also get introduced prior to varsity introductions. During these nights, the youth teams will get to hear the varsity coaches address the team prior to coming out to warming up. The teams invited to the games for introductions will also play at half time of those games.

Rensselaer Central Elite The Rensselaer Central Elite Basketball has started. We play games all afternoon at the High School, Middle School, and Van Elementary. We could use volunteers to take tickets, do the scorebook, and score clock if anyone would like to volunteer. We currently have 19 teams playing ranging from Lake Central, Munster, Crown Point, Kankakee Valley, North White, and North Judson. The grade levels participating are 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. We have around 20 kids playing on our teams. It is a great way to see the future of the Rensselaer Boys program each Sunday. The competition is very high and great for the preparation for the future for these future Bombers. Come on out and support them.
