KMUN

The Kumarans Model United Nations 2014 was

one of the most magnificent events of the year.

The main contributing factor was the

participation of 14 other schools from across

Bangalore, apart from the other Kumaran

institutions. Magnolia, DPS, NPS were som

the participants. They found it a unique and

enriching experience. The students and their

chaperones were delighted to be a part of the

largest and most professionally run MUN in South

India. The plethora of committees added to the

sheer magnitude of the MUN. There were so

many of them that they had to be classified into

crises committees and normal committees. And

more interestingly, along with some general

committees like the General Assembly, the

Security Council, the Financial Crisis Committee,

were the committees of the Order of the Phoenix

(a Harry Potter-based committee) and the

International Cricket Council. These were

undoubtedly the highlights of the MUN and the

most popular. All in all, the KMUN of this year

culminated with a very rewarding experience.

The ExcITe Programme was held by the distinguished

International Institute of Information Technology

(IIIT-B), and was attended by 35 children of Kumarans. It was

a five day programme which included site visits to the Wipro

Campus, Siemens, Institute of Biotechnology and Applied

Bio-Informatics and the Infosys campus. There were a wide

range of topics which were covered.

developing applications, specifically Android, the practical

applications of machinery, including the KUKA robot,

considered to be the fastest robot today and a biotech

session on DNA, evolution of organisms and applicatio

biotech. These five days a taught the students to approach

computer science and engineering with

outlook. Shefali S Kantikar of 12B attended the program and

summed up the whole experience by saying “Our five day

boundary and gave us a direction towards our future.”
