Not so I have never been so busy. I am off to Wellington tomorrow for a week’s visit so sorry if this is a bit light but have got together as much as time allows. Please note any emails to me need to come to my personal address as below. Thanks Andrea [email protected] CO ORDINATOR’S COMMENTS Hi Everyone, It’s this time of the month for some comments in our newsletter and I am looking for inspiration in the hope you may enjoy reading my ramblings. Not a lot of happenings this month. Just a few bikers joined the Whakatane contingent on a ride to Orakei Karako on Sunday the 10th with some of the Tauranga Branch also joining in. Generally the weather is still very changeable, however quite a few of us were looking forward to the Coromandel overnighter ride just this last weekend organised by Hartley. On Saturday 4 two-wheelers and 4 trikes fronted up at the lakefront and, after a coffee, took off for lunch at Thames via the Kamais bottom road and enjoyed refreshments just this side of Thames at a nursery cafe. We arrived at Coromandel Township well ahead of time to get ready for the organised train ride. I will leave further details of this for the RIC or Runs Coordinator to comment. I certainly enjoyed the whole run and look forward to some of the same in the months to come. See you all at the monthly Branch meeting this coming Sunday at the usual place. Cheers, Peter V #8136

CO ORDINATOR’S COMMENTS Hi Everyone,

It’s this time of the month for some comments in our newsletter and I am looking for inspiration in the hope you may enjoy reading my ramblings. Not a lot of happenings this month. NOAH THINGERTOO SAYS :-

I see the flag has been going up every Saturday at the Lakefront – now I hear the b_____ thing is broken! I have been watching the rides lately, and it seems some standard group riding etiquette needs revising before there is a major problem. I hear the USA trip by our members was a great success. Bob Mc did his own thing as expected, but nobody got held by USA authorities, everybody got home OK. I see Graeme and Sandy still on their trike, no two-wheeler yet! And I hear Tony and Marlene are on the move again. Just when you thought spring was here – think again. …….and I hear a whisper that Okataina may be available for at least one more rally. What will you call it – a reunion (but you haven’t left yet)? Maybe we could have a welcome home party???? Scope

Subject: MSAC survey Emergency Information Card Survey

Hi all

MSAC is running a survey to gauge interest – or not – in a safety card for riders. Can you please circulate

this through you branch newsletters/email lists? Please note the survey ends on 31 October if you intend

putting in your newsletters.Much appreciated

Cheers Jim F #2098

Emergency information card scheme

Do you think a free emergency information card scheme in New Zealand is a good idea? MSAC is after

your feedback.

ACC’s Motorcycle Safety Advisory Council (MSAC) is looking into the possibility of introducing a

free emergency information card scheme in New Zealand. The scheme would provide emergency

services (Fire, Ambulance and Police) with your vital contact and health information in the event that

you crash. The idea is based on the CRASH card introduced in the UK in 2009 by the Ambulance

Motorcycle Club (and other similar schemes around the world).

MSAC would like feedback to see if the idea is feasible and whether motorcyclists will support

it. Click here to go to the MSAC website for further information about the scheme and to take the short

survey. The survey is open until 31 October 2015.

AN ARTICLE FROM HARTLEY

Overnighter at Coromandel. Saturday 19/9/15.The ride leader (me) was late to my own ride. For some reason I was thinking 9.30 start but it was meant to be 9 o'clock. Anyhow I was only 5 or so minutes late. Group comprised 4 bikes 3 trikes and a sexy spider. The ride proceeded over the Mamaku’s and through on to the Old Te Aroha road through Te Aroha and on to Paeroa and the first stop was Kopu. The first cafe we stopped at was not open so we went on a bit further up the road to another cafe for a break. It was then on to Coromandel. The road up the coast is fantastic. The sea was calm and the weather good. We checked in to our accommodation and then 6 of us went on up the road to the Drive Creek pottery and railway. It is a very good experience. They have carried over 1 million people to date.

After that it was back to our accommodation for a wee bit of socialising. Jim acquired some very nice port in Thames and that went down well. It was then across the road to the pub for an evening meal. The food was delicious with the only complaint being that the portion size was too large. Sunday weather was looking OK after a fair bit of rain overnight. Bruce was not feeling too flash so they and Jack were going to head back the way we came. Jim also need to restock his port in Thames and Johan and wife were off the Hamilton. The plan was to go over the hill and stop for breakfast in Whitianga. 3 bikes and 2 trikes set off (well that was what I thought) but 2 bikes missed the turnoff to Whitianga. So it was 1 bike and 2 trikes on to Whitianga for breakfast. We had bad luck with the cafe as it took an hour to deliver breakfast. From there on to Katikati and stopped for a wee leg stretch. We could see dark skies in the direction we were heading but it was not until Pyes Pa and the Tauranga Direct road that we got a good dousing of rain. That lifted when we got back in to Rotorua. In all an enjoyable weekend of riding but I need to improve my communication and check more frequently that everybody is following. Hartley

AN ITEM FROM CRAIG for “Blue September”

Hi here are a couple of pictures of a ride in Auckland for Prostate cancer. We set out from home at 6.30 and had our first stop at Rangiori, comfort stop. I had taken a friend along as I had to drop my car off for my Daughter who was flying in. As she was putting on the bike gear (after we dropped off the car) I realized the helmet was sitting on the shelf at home (blonde moment), luckily you don't need one on a Spyder, not that I would recommend it. Short ride to the start of the event where we were able to find a loaner helmet. The Ride went from Papakura to Albany, with a send-off from the Mad Butcher and then Stu Wilson spoke at end. A day of Knights. Good ride, Great Company, Orsome Event and Cause.
