o enjoy the beauty of the Wynield Pool, we should experience the whole space with it feeling fresh and clean. Of course, it is easy to feel annoyed with any kind of mess from food, toys, or broken items. So, here are some tips to help us manage the community space as we hang out together and bask in the gorgeous sun: • Make sure to close the umbrellas when you leave. This

will protect them from unexpected wind gusts that can cause damage. It’s great to have shade at the pool!

• Clean up any of your leftover food while at the pool area to prevent ants or bees from swarming.

• Email poolandtennis@wynield.org if you have questions, concerns, or see possible damage to anything in the community area.

• Protect the pool ilter by keeping long hair tied back while in the water. A ponytail or braid can help prevent loose hair strands from getting tangled up in drains or ilter.

• AND HAVE AN AWESOME TIME AT THE POOL!

Forsyth's 135-Acre, Mixed-Use Big Creek Greenway Sets Open Date

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA – The official opening date of HALCYON, a 135-acre mixed-use development rising on Forsyth's Big Creek Greenway, will be March 23, 2019, according to an announcement made Friday by RocaPoint Partners. The development will be located directly off Georgia 400's Exit 12 on McFarland Parkway.

"Spring is the perfect time to open a development like HALCYON, where tenants and visitors will want to walk outside or from the Greenway and enjoy all we have to offer, from the stylish boutique retailers to the variety of restaurants to the CMX dine-in cinema," said Phil Mays, principal at RocaPoint Partners. "As we continue to add exciting new tenants to the mix and see the full picture of what HALCYON is capable of being, we can all feel a palpable excitement in the air here in Forsyth County."

I have to brag on my neighbor, Cynthia

Kezele! We did an extensive kitchen remodel

and were completely without an oven for 6

weeks. She let me have unlimited use of hers

while she was out of town helping family. Not

sure I could have kept my sanity during that

project without her generosity. And recently,

she saw me struggling in my front yard trying

to dig out a stump from an old overgrown

shrub. I had to leave for several hours and

when I came back, the stump was gone! She did

it a week later on a different stump! I’m so

thankful to be surrounded by neighbors who

would do anything to help others even when

their own plates are full. Thank you, Cynthia!

To the surprise and delight of many, once again the number of homes selling in Wynfield has been low. Simply because few have come on the market (see last summer’s newsleter arcle “We Are Happy Here”). The demand for our houses is high and is reflected by significant appreciaon in their values.

8 houses have sold through the first 6 months of the year. Our neighborhood is solidly in the $280,000 to $300,000 price range. One house in need of significant maintenance and repair sold for $220,000 and another grandiose house sold for $350,000, aberraons in both direcons, but I do like the one high sales price.

A shout out to all Wynfield Home Owners who are spending valuable me, resources and making incredible efforts to maintain their lawns and houses. The appearance of the neighborhood is exhibited by our home values.

If anyone would like addional informaon, interest in determining the value of your home or are contemplang buying/selling real estate, I can be reached at: [email protected]

Tips On How To Get Rid Of Squirrels From Your Attic & Home

Article by: http://www.atticpestauthority.com/squirrels-in-attic/

The million dollar question is: 'how to get rid of squirrels in the attic?'...Unfortunately, running around your neighbor-hood yelling "there's squirrels in my attic" won’t solve the problem. Hands down, the most effective way is to call in a professional, who will do it right the first time.

Follow these steps to get rid of squirrels in your home:

1. Seal off the entry point of the pests. 2. Set the right squirrel trap. 3. Use the proper bait. 4. Draw the pests out of their hiding. 5. Relocate the animals safely. 6. Use repellents in and around your

home for pest prevention.

Wynfield Uses Facebook Too! We know that many of us interact with our

family and friends through Facebook and other social media. Did you know that Wynfield Neighborhood uses Facebook to let us communicate with each other?

We have 2 groups on Facebook – one is focused on Neighbors-to-Neighbors and the other is for the HOA to post live announcements to the neighborhood!

Here are group links for you to join us!

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is warning residents that anyone who solicits door to door, must be wearing an authorized badge. That means, they must be permitted through the sheriff's office. With warmer weather comes increased door-to-door solicitor activity. Solicitors can only work in areas that do not have a "No Solicitation" sign. Even if the solicitor has an ID Badge, they must not aggressively solicit their goods. If you have any issues with solicitors, call 911 or the sheriff's non-emergency number at 770-781-3087.

Neighborhood Traffic Safety - It’s No Accident!

By Tom Everson, Founder & Director of Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 ©

We hear the word “Accident” often. Anytime a crash occurs, or child is hit by a car, we hear it referred to as an accident. Yet, how many tragedies are accidents? If a driver is exceeding the speed limit on a neighborhood street, or any roadway for that matter, and hits a child crossing the street, running after a ball, or riding a bike, is that an accident?

Driver behavior is crucial to creating a safe environment for everyone using a roadway. Controlling speed is no accident. It is a responsibility to insure safety for others and for ourselves.

No one wants to be behind the wheel and hit a child, or pedestrian of any age. Safe driving behavior is no accident. It is a decision we make each time we get behind the wheel. The national non-profit Keep Kids Alive Drive 25© is committed to working with communities to involve and educate residents on how to make neighborhood streets safer. This includes children playing, bike riders, pedestrians of all ages, drivers, and passengers. It takes the commitment of parents, law enforcement, city services, schools, businesses, and city government working together to create safe streets for the benefit of all.

Creating neighborhood streets is no accident!

Consider these facts from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration: • Most speeders on local highways live

right in the neighborhood. • If you hit a pedestrian:

At 20 mph – 5% will die At 30 mph – 45% will die At 40 mph – 85% will die

• Pedestrian fatalities increase by 3 times when moving from 25 mph to 30 mph zones.

• Local roadways, including residential streets, have a fatality rate per miles driven over 2 times higher than on highways.

The Yamaroody Mama! Hello! Yamaroody Mamá here!

I am sure everyone is working on summer plans. Most people have a crazy school year schedule and once summer begins, so many are working to find one camp or two or 10 to send the kids. This Yamaroody Mama has a different plan!

Our summer schedule is super vacation fun! Our day begins with mom’s swim team practice. Yes, you read that correctly. I am on an adult swim team. We practice, we race, and we have lots of fun! My practice is every morning 7-8am, and then I have 35 min to get the girls ready for their practices which are 8:40-9:30 and 10-11am. We practically hang out at the pool the entire morning and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

Whatever happened to summer just being time of pool, swimming and relaxing? Some of my favorite memories are of me and my brother in the pool. Although we did join swim team, we still wanted to be in the pool for hours! We got to be kids all summer long. No schedules. Just playing and having fun.

Nowadays, most kids are too busy trying to grow up and get the latest electronics that I find they forget to be kids. They have forgotten how to play outside, kick a ball, or see who can make the highest cannonball splash! I find that kids are no longer kids. Our world is full of hate and violence and the kid’s lives are based more on social media and electronics.

Change needs to happen and it’s up to us to help kids change. So, for this summer, how about no electronics and no video games. Instead, let’s have lots of sunshine and fun outside! Let’s make this summer a Yamaroody one!

WYNFIELD COMMUNITY POOL HOUSE UPDATE

1. Feed Regularly - Within 6-8 weeks of feeding, microbes in the soil have processed most of the nutrients for your lawn to absorb. You need to replenish these nutrients with another feeding. A well-fed lawn grows in thick, crowding out weeds and cooling the soil, which helps it to handle the heat. However, if your lawn has gone dormant, hold off on feeding until rain revives it.

2. Mow High - If you cut your grass short, you're short-changing your lawn. Longer grass allows the growth of longer roots, which can reach down for moisture even on hot, dry days. Just set your mower on one of the highest settings. You'll be surprised what a difference this simple step can make.

3. Watering - If your grass has been cut short all season, you're going to have to water more frequently. But even longer grass needs moisture. So, if you choose to water during a dry spell, be sure to water deeply and infrequently. Frequent, shallow watering encourages grass to grow short roots, causing the grass to stress out during droughts. An inch of water a week serves as a good rule of thumb for keeping your lawn green during the hot summer. Just be sure to water as early as possible in the morning, between 6AM and 10AM, to help reduce wasteful evaporation.

4. Reseeding and Renovation - Older lawns may have grass varieties that just can't handle the heat. The grass may grow in bunches or have thick, ugly blades. Also, a hot summer can leave bare spots and thin areas around the lawn. New grass varieties have been developed to be able to handle scorching heat and still look good. Tall fescue mixes are great for lawns subjected to scorching sun and high heat. The best time to reseed lawns with a tall fescue mix is in fall or early spring when conditions are optimal for grass growth.

The work we completed on the Wynfield Pool Area over the last year includes a new coating over the cement, new pool house paint, and the new cabanas for shade on the deck area. The progress is so beautiful, we knew it was time to make one more beautiful and safety focused update to the pool house – tile flooring! We hope you enjoy the beautiful flooring!
