WELCOMEICOI WORLD CONGRESS XXXVIII

IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIADear Colleagues,

Welcome to Sydney, capital of New South Wales and the gateway to Australia. Best known for the harbour front Sydney Opera House, with its distinctive sail-like design, Sydney also has the massive Darling Harbour precinct and the smaller historic Circular Quay port which are both hubs of waterside life and nightlife. With the high arched Harbour Bridge, esteemed Royal Botanic Garden and some of the best beaches and restaurants in the world nearby.

The ICOI World Congress on 8-10 October, 2020 will be an event to remember. Join us for a three-day conference titled “Success, Failure and the Future” for all the latest in Dental Implantology from some of the world’s leading clinicians and while you are here also enjoying the sights and sounds of Sydney.

This conference will discuss the latest in Implant Dentistry including current controversies and techniques. Presenters will show how to plan, how to prepare the site for an implant, how to carry out the treatment, what works and what does not and the long-term maintenance of the implant patient. The emphasis will be on developing a comprehensive overview of the scientific literature as it relates to current implant best practices. This is guaranteed to be the most relevant conference you have attended in a city that is second to none. Come along and join a community of like-minded people.

Sincerely,

Dr. Thomas Giblin, Scientific Program Chair

Modern dental implants have been around for more than 50 years. It is no longer good enough to place an implant in the available bone and then try to restore function as best we can. With digital planning, bone augmentation and our understanding of what works and what does not we should now be able to place an implant with confidence about the longevity and safety of the procedure.

This conference will discuss the Success, Failure and Future of Dental Implants. Presenters will show how to plan, how to prepare the site for an implants, how to carry out the treatment, what works and what does not and the long-term maintenance of the implant patient. The emphasis will be on developing a comprehensive overview of the scientific literature as it relates to current Implant Practice.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES• Understand how the current scientific literature supports implant procedures

• Develop an overview of how digital dentistry influences how we place and restore implants

• Understand how we can achieve long-term success with implants and management of implant patients

• Consider some of the controversies in modern implant treatment – such as the All-on 4 concept, socket shield technique and peri-implant infections.

TABLETOP AND POSTER PRESENTATIONSThursday, October 8, 2020 | 6:00 pm – 7:30 pmYou don’t have to be a Main Podium speaker to participate in our congress. Why not plan to present a Tabletop and/or Poster presentation? A “proven training ground” for future and current Main Podium speakers, the very popular Tabletop and Poster competition will be held in tandem with our Welcome Reception in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. It allows presenters to interact with colleagues in a social, yet instructive manner. Tabletop and Poster presentations should display a challenging case or concept in a limited time format, i.e. 5-7 minutes, so that the case can be repeated as new observers gather. Poster presentations will be placed (tacked or taped) on boards at the beginning of the congress and will remain on display throughout the congress. Poster presenters should be at their posters to answer inquiries during the Welcome Reception. All presentations will be judged, with the winners receiving awards and main podium consideration for future ICOI meetings. REMEMBER, ALL FELLOWS, MASTERS AND DIPLOMATES WHO CONDUCT TABLETOP OR POSTER PRESENTATIONS HELP FULFILL THEIR FIVE-YEAR MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS.

Parties interested in conducting a Tabletop and/or Poster presentation must contact the Chair for this competition, Dr. Avi Schetritt, to request an application.

Completed applications must be submitted by August 14, 2020.Dr. Avi Schetritt – Email: [email protected]
