    Room 1 - Lisa Miller

Wow!! What a fantastic job the children from Kindy and Pre-primary did yesterday at the assembly! We were so proud ofthem. A big thank you to all the parents for sending everyonealong in their North Freo parade t shirts.

In a busy two weeks in Kindy we have explored more Under theSea and looked at the sounds the letters D, O, U and Fmake. We have danced to music, set up and did an obstaclecourse and played the game, Froggy jump.

Room 2- Liz SmithThe Pre-primary students have enjoyed a happy and peaceful past few weeks. Were enjoying workinghard on our topic in the mornings and swimming in the afternoons. Today we wish a fond farewell to thewonderful Miss Bernie, the children have loved having her in our class and we will all miss her.

    Room 3- Bev Lane

During the past fortnight although we have spent a lot of time swimming, we have managed to fit in somework and even had a little fun making silhouettes of ourselves. The realism of the result does depend on cut-ing skills so some have rather interesting noses and chins. Can you guess who this silhouette belongs to?

    Room 4- Claire Henneberry

For the past two weeks we have had swimming lessons every afternoon. Everyone has had a lot of fun andno doubt learnt some new swimming moves!During our unit on culture, the students have researched a different culture of their choice and presented ito the class. Everyone did a wonderful job and learnt lots of new things about different cultures.

On Monday Jimmys uncle, Caruscame in and played some songs for us. He explained how writing a songs just like writing a narrative and its a chance for people to express themselves in a different way. He isn excellent musician and we all had a wonderful time!

Student CouncillorsWe are off to camp next week. Yeah!Try not to miss us too much. Thanks for all your support with our fundraising efforts, we appreciate it!

Room 5 students have just completed and presented their first historical inquiry on an importantindividual of the Swan River Colony. I have been particularly impressed with the knowledge that hasbeen learnt through this process and the high level of presentation displayed by the year 5, 6 and 7students. The students gathered information from a variety of sources including; the computer, thelocal and state library and important land sites around the state. The levels of creativity were amaz-

ing which made sharing of the presentations very entertaining.Well done everyone, Mrs Vinci.

Room 5- Monica Parkes/Leanne VinciRoom 5 have been putting North Fremantles Science lab to good use over the last few weeks. Last week wecarried out an investigation to find out if adding salt to 100mls of water would change the boiling temperature. We used Bunsen Burners to bring the water to the boil and then used thermometers to record the result. Theresults were then collated and we created a table and a graph to record them. We discovered that adding salt towater increased the boiling temperature.

Next week we are going to use Bunsen Burners again to make crystals!

LONG TERM FOSTER FAMILY NEEDED!The Department for Child Protection and Wanslea are working together to locate a committed and nurturing longterm foster family for a minimum of two years and a maximum to 18 years for three beautiful young non indige-nous siblings eighteen month old twins and a nearly three year old boy.The older child has a great sense of humour, is loving and always tries to please. He enjoys riding his bike, play-

ing with cars, digging in the sand pit and doing puzzles. Like all, nearly three year olds, he has a lot of energy, likes to be the centre of attention and can get jealous. Like many children in care he seeks the connection with asignificant other. The younger brother is a climber, very adventurous and sure footed. He is very smart and talks well sayingmany words in the correct context. He is a smoocher, loves kisses and cuddles and is the easy going one of thethree. The young girl is the cheekiest of the siblings and is very petite. However, don't let this fool you as she is veryfeisty and doesn't get left behind by her brothers. She is ticklish and giggles a lot.The siblings have been together with the same foster family since coming into care a little over a year ago. TheDepartment for Child Protection and Wanslea want to continue the stabilizing influence of the safe and nurturingenvironment provided by the current foster family who are unfortunately unable to continue to care for these chil-dren.

The current foster family is willing to offer any ongoing support needed to make a transition and subsequent longterm placement of these children a successful and lasting one. In addition, the placement will be fully supportedby the Department for Child Protection and Wanslea once the assessment of a suitable family is completed.Fostering is not easy, but if you think this is an opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of these chil-dren, please contact Debbie Petterlin at Wanslea on 9245 2441

    CHAPLAINS CORNER

I recently came across this little saying which struck a chord in me:Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.

As we begin to enter the Christmas season again, with all its various traditions, preparations, rituals and activities we oftenexperience a real mixture of feelings: joyful anticipation, hope, a longing for peace within ourselves, our families and ourworld and a sense of anxiety, and even dread, about how our planned family gatherings and celebrations will actually un-fold.

I think this is partly because, in the midst of our preparations, we are all grappling with the big issues of death and love. Weare dealing with the death of some of our dreams, desires, relationships, friendships and actual people whom we have loved, and then there are also the memories of wonderful celebrations, reunions, acts of genuine kindness and cherished moments.

It is a real balancing act to juggle the heartache and the hope, the pain and the joy, the regret and the gratitude both withinourselves and in those people around us. So, let us enter this time with gentle steps and tender hearts open to the joys andhopes, the struggles and heartache of those around us.
