Ethiopian Ethinic Day

The event is Ethiopian ethnic day which is a celebration

of all the ethnic groups and tribes in Ethiopia. It was a

breathtaking event. It was held in the new 50,000 seat soc-

cer stadium in Bahir Dar and there were probably 75,000 in attendance.

Each tribal and ethnic group had several representatives who paraded before President Gobezie and

the new Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Haile Mariam Desalegne. Each group danced and marched in their

traditional costumes and it was simply amazing. The theme from the Prime Minister was peace with the

world and war on poverty. Earlier in another speech he declared to the people that he was a born again believer and that the people in

the Orthodox church and the Protestants should work together to stamp out poverty.

The conclusion of the program was presented by over 1,000 children. The coordination of these kids as they marched in unison and

performed for us was a spectacle to behold. What a privilege for me to see this. We were seated right beneath the podium of the Prime

Minister and President Gobezie so we had one of the best seats in the house.

As I watched this magnificent parade of over 80 ethnic tribes of Ethiopia all dressed in their best tribal costumes I was thinking about

another display of tribes that will take place at the throne of God.

Rev 7:9-10 9 After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front

of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white and held palm branches in their hands. 10 And they were shouting with a

mighty shout, "Salvation comes from our God on the throne and from the Lamb!" NLT

President Ayalew Gobezie I want to introduce to you my friend President Ayalew

Gobezie (picture on left). He is the President of the Amharic

Region of Ethiopia. I met him in 2008 on a flight from Ad-

dis Ababa to Bahir Dar and our friendship grows throughout

each year. He is a powerful dynamic and humble man who

serves the people of Ethiopia. In a luncheon meeting I asked

him what he wanted for his people and his reply was simply;

“I want to eradicate poverty in Ethiopia.” He has done a

marvelous job in doing just that. I personally have seen tre-

mendous changes in the Bahir Dar area and throughout the

Amharic region. There are new roads being built. New Uni-

versities springing up in all the major cities. Living condi-

tions are improving. There are smiles on the faces of the

people. Though Ethiopia is a very poor nation with leaders

such as President Gobezie the destiny of Ethiopia is even

now changing.

Preaching Ministry God called me to preach His Word.

Wherever we go this is an important

part of the ministry of myself and

NHOM International. With each mes-

sage comes an altar call and I must tell

you every altar call is filled with re-

pentant sinners both Christian and non

-Christian. I challenge each church in

America and in the countries I work in

with a powerful word from God.

I preached in the cities of Bahir Dar, Debre Tabor (a stronghold of Orthodoxy), Dangel, Finite Se-

lam, Debre Marcos and finally Adama. Adama has 8 Christian churches and 35 Muslim mosques.

The above picture is the altar call from Adama as hundreds came forward repenting of their sin. Each

service where I have preached during 2012 has seen similar results. Altars full of repentant sinners

and God moving mightily in our midst with signs and wonders following.

Diversity of Ethiopia Ethiopia is a beautiful and diverse country.

There is so much to see in this country of 90 plus

million people. I never get tired of taking pictures

of the scenery, wildlife, birds and especially the

people. God has granted NHOM International

favor in this country and we will soon be building

our New Hope Children’s Village. Groundbreak-

ing for this event should happen very soon and we

are very excited. The pictures are as follows:

In September 2012, Pastor John bought two goats for a widow. That same widow is holding

the product of those two goats. A new baby kid. Pastor John asked us to name the first kid after

him so we have called the kid, Johnny. It is the

first of many for our widow. She is a Christian

but needed to see a demonstration of faith. When

Pastor John asked her what she needed to get on

with her life she said that if she had two goats that

would be the gift that would help her get here life

back together. She is a good woman and we know that she will do her very best .

Widows Ministry, Ekaterinburg

Each month we greet those with birthdays and make visits to those

that are lonely and need fellowship. Not every widow has the same

need so we try to develop ministry based on individual needs. We want

to be a blessing to as many as we can. We have women who are helping

children with speech problems and they volunteer their time to help de-

velop the speech patterns of these children. We want every widow to be

used in ministry work and application.

Bahir Dar, Ethiopia I have been so busy with NHOM International in trying to finish our

NGO work that I barely have time to answer the call of God on my own

life. I am a Evangelist called of God to train leaders of local churches

through crusades, teaching, seminars, Bible schools and workshops. It

has been my great privilege to help NHOM International and Pastor

John set up and establish their work in Ethiopia. I believe the

work is vital to help the helpless in my country. It is a unique

work that is right at the heart of God.

Odessa, Ukraine

Viktoria was one of our guest speakers at NHOM International

15 year celebration. She blessed us with a song as well. Since return-

ing home her comments are these; “Peace to you from the Lord and

development in all areas of your life. I thank God for all of you and

pray that God will give you the best of everything in the name of Jesus

Christ. And we continue to work hard. I didn't think i would miss ser-

vice so much during my absence. Now I am enjoying every moment of

serving. Very much looking forward to using the flannel graph May

God bless you and reward you in His mercy.”

Ekaterinberg, Russia

We are sad to report that our Associate Pastor to our church, Pastor Yevginny has passed away. He was

a great leader and personal friend. He leaves behind his wife Olga and one son. Though we know where

and who he is with, yet we still miss him here. Pastor John Shane had asked him to serve communion for

his American and Russian team on his last visit in May, 2012 and Pastor Yevginny blessed us all as he

shared about the Bread of Life and the shed Blood of our Savior Jesus Christ. Pastor Yevginny was instru-

mental in setting up tent crusades throughout the Ekaterinberg region. He was a great preacher and loved

to see souls saved. He was a real friend of NHOM International and all who knew him.

Our work goes on with the orphans and widows and we are thrilled to be able to serve the Lord helping

those who cannot help themselves. Pray for our church during this difficult time of transition. We love

you all. Igor & Olga

Perm, Russia Natasha has been a busy lady. I had wanted to have her share at our NHOM International 15 year celebration

but she said she would rather go to Ethiopia instead. She joined our group in Ethiopia in December and the Lord

gave her blessings she could hardly contain. She was not prepared for what she saw and was overwhelmed on

occasion by what God was doing. At one of the public schools where over 3,000 children swarmed us she

tapped me on my shoulder and said she was afraid. I told her that these kids were just like the orphans she

works with in Russia and as she overcame her fear she began to work with the children in the churches. Though

she could not speak their language she did pour out love to them. They would flock to her as she passed out

little stickers and they all received her hugs. Natasha has been a blessing to us for the over 6 years she has

served the orphans in Perm, Russia region. The children love her and the team she has helped develop all respect her and bless the many

thousands of children and elderly she works with.

Ethiopians Celebrate

Ethiopia has more than 80

different cultural groups

in its nation.. Each year

they all come together in

a major city to celebrate

their differences and their

unity as Ethiopians. This

year 2012 the celebration was held

in Bahir Dar. It was the first time it was ever held

in this city and it really was a beautiful time. Pic-

tured are just a few of the tribes and their cultural

costumes. There were more than 70,000 people in

attendance in the new soccer stadium near down-

town. It was a joyous affair. Ethiopia has more

than its share of problems but it is making great

strides to correct some of the major areas of con-

cern.

I am thrilled that NHOM International can play

a small part in helping restore children and fami-

lies through our thought out and planned approach

in working with widows and orphans. Rescuing

the helpless and hopeless and giving them a New

Hope and an opportunity for a future.
