OUR NEW LETTER HEADING We are proud of our new let terhead. Kay we ca l l your at tent ionto a few of the pictures in i t The farmers have le f t their homes in the village back a tthe foot of the mountain to go out into the va lley and toi l the long hours of the day intheir rice fields. They have l i t t le time to do much else than to i l in the rice fields.Even noWj when weather permitsi they can be seen plowing the stubble fie lds so they willbe ready for spring. Rural people have very l i t t le social life, except, perhaps to bhatwith a neighbor in the field next to theirs during a few minutes of rest from their toils. But to the preacher of the Gospel, who holds in his hands the open Bible, there ,1b a callfrom these who toi l out in th e valleysj there i s a cal l from th e luany villages out.acrossth e mountain . a cal l to go help them. I t i s no t a cal l to help them plant or harvesttheir rioe. They know more about that than we do. The call of the villages for us is tohelp them kziow and love and use God s Word in their lives. Our call is to help them knowof eternal salvation through Christ. You folk at home answer the call o:^ the, villages^byprayers and support to us who go out into the valleys and to the village8\0ut across thmountains. When you see this letterhead remember to pray and suppor t those who labor inthe Gospel throughout these villages, Better s t i l l pray every day for Japan. ,

Have you ever lived in a house that is up for sale and wonder each day if thisis the day you will be told you have 2 months to find another house? As in anysmall community, word gets around. The land lady of the Takafuji house asked wherewe were going to move. She told us our house was sold and even knew the sellingprice but our land lady hasn t said anything to us yet. tfeny occupation familiesare moving but i t appears rent rates will be much too high for some time yet. Somehouse owners would rather rent to Japanese or live in a house themselves than rentat a reasonable price. The problems of renting and the cost of heating a Japanesehouse in winter has convinced us the cheapest thing is to build a mission home. Weare studying locations and costs now and will report i t later. covet yourp r a y e r s i n t h i s d e o i s i o n

The work of the church continues to be encouraging. Recently a young msm, whoattended the apeoial Christmas program, has been coining to regular services. Mr,

Takafuji been doing some fine basic teaching to help the folk understand whatChristianity really is . One Saturday night two of the young women talked with Mr.Takafuji until after midnight about becoming Christians Mr Takafuji was so

WE FEEL WOE MORE PERmNEMT .Last April i t was evident we would have to move. In May, there were a few

vacant houses but rents were too high for us to consider them* We had a bo ut g iv en

up finding a house to rent and were looking for land to rent where we could build ahouse. The l a s t of June we learned the Seventh Day Adventist mission house was forren t . They have a Nisei minister to car for the i r work here in Sendai so do not pla?.oto have a missionary in the area for perhaps 2 to 4 years. Their missionaries inTokyo seemed happy to ren t to us so we arranged with them to move in July 1 . However, when th e SDA church folk here learned of i t they objected because the anti instrument brethren down near Tokyo had written a t ract against seventh day worship. Sincewe ca l l ourselves OHUROHOP CHRIST, they supposed we were of th e same group. We toldthem we di d no t agree on their day of worship but neither do we believe that writingt rac t s against them i s the answer. After ta lking with t he i r minister and he in turntalking to the church folk, we moved in July 11. We do no t feel that l iving next doort o another church group w i l l a f f e c t our work since our work i s centered in theTakan^j i home where s er vi ce s a re he ld . Perhaps thfere w i l l be opportunity t o teachthese people the way of the Lord more per fec t ly. We a re happy to be here .

A WO MN ^S MITEThe other morning when Yoshiko san (the girl who helps with the house work

was coming to work, a lady stopped her a t the ga te . She said she had to work onSundays and could not go to church bu t gave Yoshiko san 10 yen (almost 5^) askedher to put i t in the church offering. Yoshiko san i nv it ed h er to come to the housebut she did not come. To u s , such ac t ion may seem s t range bu t i t shows the woman wasseeking something perhaps a peace of mind, or a sp i r i tua l bless ing. There i s s t i l ;a sp i r i tua l vacuum among the masses of Japan. God give us wisdom and strength t oshow them Chr i s t , who ca n f i l l t h e i r need. The preacher of the Gospel who holds in his hands the open Bible hearsa call from these rural areas; there is a call from the many villages out across th e mountain. The call does not come from the people because they know not what to ask for now. Thecall is a God-given call. The call of the villages requires each of us to help these peopleknow eternal salvation through Christ. For the missionary it is a call to help them knowand love and use G od 's Wor d in their lives. T hi s c al l of th e villages reaches across cheocean to you folk at home. You answer this call when you pray and support us as wego out into the valleys and to the villages out across th mountains

People in rural areas have the idea that Sundayworship services are for Christians only. The\- feel tiu \should attend on]\ special services when special invitationis made. Highest attendance was at th e special Easter

The purpose of this folder is more than to tell you of the challenging work of TH ECALL OF THE VILLAGES. This is a plea for support to do th e work. T he p re se ntdeficit makes future progress in this new work very difficult, ^ our prayers and yourgifts and offerings are needed now to make this work financially possible. Thei m m e d i a t e need.s a r e :

    1. SIOO mouthlv to complete th e Nielsen s living l ink support.

    2. 75 monthly in pledged service link support. Service link support is used toprint tr acts and lesson material and for Jeep travel costs as we go out to thesevillages where Christ is not known.

A SUGGESTION Can you give 25^ a week for one of the above projects ? Can youget 25 others to do the same? Start a Call Of The Villages club in

your Bible School class, youth organization, women s group or amongth e members of th e congregation. Please pray about these needs,t he n t al k a bo ut them. Prayer changes things.

A Call Of The Villages 25 Club (25 people giving 25^ a week) can supply 1/3 of the neededservice link support. Three Call Of The Villages 25 clubs can fill the need for service linkand take the saving Gospel of Christ to many of the villages in this rural area of Japan.

A Nielsen 50 Club (50 people giving 50^ a week can complete the Nielsen s living ilnksupport. Four Nielsen 25 clubs can supply this needed support.
