LIST OF WORKSHOPS

1. Work+ : Help your pupils Make It

The Make It Careers pack is a resource being developed by the BBC for secondary school teachers. It aims to assist them in developing ideas and insights about potential careers for pupils, especially those who may not want to pursue traditional academic routes. The pack will contain paper-based resources that will help pupils explore various options and relate their own skills and preferences to potential career paths. It is intended as a thought starter rather than an exhaustive catalogue of careers and will attempt to encourage pupils to recognise their own potential. BBC would be grateful for input from careers advisors and teachers to make sure that this resource helps you help your pupils. We look forward to you joining us!

4. DfE : Higher Level Apprenticeships, ELL1 and the new NI Traineeship

Find out more about programmes funded by Department for the Economy

Higher Level Apprenticeships Higher Level Apprenticeships (HLAs) are open to those who have completed A Levels or equivalent and offer the opportunity to gain quality training and a recognised higher qualification (currently available at levels 4 to 7) while in paid employment. By taking part in a HLA, participants can gain the skills that employers need and that are relevant to the local economy, therefore improving their prospects of good earnings and sustained employment.

ELL1 The Department is undertaking a review of its training for young people at Entry Level and Level 1 with the aim of designing new provision that will be able from September 2020, replacing Training for Success at these levels. The new programme will be relevant to young people who have low or no qualifications and who would benefit from the opportunity to access structured learning to help them progress to higher levels of education, training or employment.

NI Traineeship From September 2020 a new Northern Ireland Vocational Education and Training Programme will be introduced in Further Education Colleges. The NI Traineeship will provide a high-quality vocational education and training programme at Level 2, including structured work-based learning, to young people who are not yet in employment or not yet working in their chosen occupational area. It will be available for 16-24 year olds and give those who complete it the skills and qualifications necessary to secure employment in their chosen occupation or to progress to Further Education/Training.
