Why should we join NJ-

HITEC?

Providers are overwhelmed by the EMR Vendors knocking on their doors, they are welcoming the idea of us responding to their need. Our idea of posting stickers of NJ-HITEC Participating Provider on their door is being well received.

Here we present the NJ-HITEC fact sheet, background on Regional Extension Centers, and we highlight our Mission & Vision. We also talk about HITECH Act, why we were created, how we are an unbiased body that helps the providers through the complex process of EMR adoption, implementation, achieving meaningful use and qualification for the federal incentives.

Page 4: NJ HITEC overview

Are you an EMR Vendor? No, we are not EMR vendors, we will have NJ-HITEC preferred

vendors who have gone through a very rigorous selection process to make sure they will best serve the Providers

needs and Federal requirements.

What do I gain by working with NJ-HITEC’s preferred EMR Vendor?

•They will offer volume discounts to our members, they will be accountable to NJ-HITEC.• NJ-HITEC will be the Consumer Protection and Dispute Resolution Body.

•Providers respond well to this protection.

Page 5: NJ HITEC overview

Do we have to go with your preferred vendors

and why?It is not required for you to work with our preferred vendors, we have an obligation at NJ-HITEC to work with the vendor that you

please to work with.We need to make sure that they are CCHIT certified to get you through the meaningful use requirements set by the Federal

government.

What happens if I do not sign the Participation Agreement

with NJ-HITEC?• NJ-HITEC is your unbiased and ultimate resource for smooth navigation through the complete process of EMR adoption, implementation, meaningful use and receiving the federal incentives. • You can do it on your own but it is a very complex process and your peers complain of the lack of time, lack of expertise and confusion in the EMR space, MU requirements etc. NJ- HITEC addresses all those issues.

Page 7: NJ HITEC overview

What if I am not satisfied with the NJ-

HITEC vendors?

NJ-HITEC is your Consumer Protection and Dispute Resolution body; the vendors are accountable to NJ-HITEC for customer satisfaction.

Many organizations are pulling us, we

are confused?

NJ-HITEC is the State designated agency for the entire state, it is up to you (Provider) to decide and we can share our benefits with you.

What happens after the two years when your grant dries out, what are we going to

do?

NJ-HITEC is off to a great start and feels confident about its sustainability.

We are going to retire soon? Why

should I go through the trouble?

It is an investment in your business. Future Prospects for your practice will be looking to buy EMR certified practices only.

Page 9: NJ HITEC overview

Doctors do not want to be bothered.

This is a Federal mandate and after 2015 the reimbursement for Medicare will be reduced and also penalties will be levied.

What kind of support back offices do you

have?

NJ-HITEC will have several IT consultants who will be going out at discounted rate to support the providers. One of the requirements of the grant is for us to work with community colleges to provide employment and work force development.

Page 10: NJ HITEC overview

Will I get support 24/7?

No. But we are working with vendors with strong NJ presence.

Do you have any doctor’s references?

Yes. We have many providers signed up to join the program.

Have you done any practice assessment yet?

Yes we have begun the Practice assessments. We should be finishing our vendor selection process in the next two weeks, soon after we will schedule Assessments.

Page 11: NJ HITEC overview

Why are specialists not included in the program?

NJ-HITEC at present does not have a subsidy for specialists. We are working on a price structure for Specialists

Is there going to be a program for specialists?

Not available yet.

How will I be certified for

meaningful use, what is the audit

process, I am concerned about

privacyNJ-HITEC will assist you in training, proper record keeping and getting ready for meaningful use audit; our staff will be handling the process. All Privacy & Security issues will be addressed within that.

Page 12: NJ HITEC overview

Why do I have to pay $500.00 per year, per practice, per

location.

For the first 2 years we are funded 90% and 10% we have to come up with. This nominal fee covers our 10%.

Do PPCP/ Specialty qualify?? Example: Internal Medicine/

Cardiology

We are submitting the Participation agreements into our database and will let you know if they come back with a problem. REC policy is at least 40% of their practice is Internal Medicine.

Page 13: NJ HITEC overview

Why aren’t we handling Dentist and Chiropractors?

NJ-HITEC does not have a subsidy to work with them. We have been assigned to work with: Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics, OB-GYN, Gerontology, PAs, and NPs.

Why are you only focusing on 1 to 10 providers offices?

NJ-HITEC’s priority group is 1-to 10-practice group but we can make a few exceptions as per NJ-HITEC internal policies.

Page 14: NJ HITEC overview

What is the time frame of the entire process?NJ-HITEC needs to do a Practice Assessment to determine the time frame, since every practice has different needs and are

at different stages of the process.

How am I going to get the incentive payment? We sharethe Meaningful Use document and refer to incentives pay out table

for Medicaid and Medicare. We can also answer your inquiries with the support of latest information from Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Why do we need to sign a Participation Agreement?
