NEW LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES
Pilot Trial Scenario 2008
Alexander Hayes March 11th 2008
The Scenario
You are presenting to a group of staff who have little experience with technology, and ICT staff who have strong technology skills. The project
requires that the team pilot the use of some sort of technology in the delivery to students across a wide geographic location. The project does not specify what sort of technology to use. You will be an ongoing member of this project team ,
but have no line responsibility for the staff. The manager of the teachers will also be present but will not be an ongoing team member.

NEW LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES
Pilot Trial Scenario 2008
ICT Staff
You are presenting to a group of staff who have little experience with technology and ICT staff who have strong technology skills.......
Manager
The project Manager is present but will not be an ongoing team member requiring communication platforms through which project development can be monitored and allow interaction where needed.
The need of the Manager is a catalyst for identifying the needs of the project team – modes of communication , prospects for technology use and platforms to achieve project outcomes.
The ICT staff have an intimate knowledge of technology from a security , infrastructure and system support perspective providing a sound base on which to identify and employ new learning technologies.
With strategic facilitation, the project team are encouraged to identify innovative and sustainable delivery technologies complementing their wide range of skills and experience .
The ICT staff may again provide valuable input that will ensure the success of the uptake of this selected platform for use with learners considered by the project team.
The project team may liaise with support staff who help students in geographically dispersed locations and consider what additional technologies are needed to engage these project stakeholders.
A B C
These stakeholders may require additional training and familiarisation with the technologies involved in the project as well as the preferred modes of communication between project members.

A contingency plan and risk analysis for all involved in the project will ensure that the project requirements are met and that project milestones are being met.
A B C
The project may be graduated and involve project groups accessing new delivery in stages, with project team members considering the needs and requirements of each individual in that group.
The project team may also identify the need to bring in additional team members who have specialised knowledge and who can assist the team to achieve project milestones.
Projects Examples using, flexible access and multi-user new learning technologies in education.
