Hello, The annual NMSU Horse Sale and Open House will be held on April 27, 2019 at the NMSU Horse Farm. The Open House will start at 10:00 am, lunch will be provided by Horse N Hound Feed and Supply at 12:00, the sale preview will start at 1:00 and the sale will start at 2:30 pm. We hope you will come out and see what New Mexico State University has to offer. Whether you are looking to purchase a prospect, or just want to know what we are all about, come check us out. The NMSU Horse Program has a history of producing exceptional horses that have succeeded in many different arenas. We have raised NCHA, NRHA, NRCHA money earners, AQHA point earners and World Champions in AQHA, PHBA, NRCHA, ASHA, and SHOT, as well as money earners in 4H rodeo, team ropings, and even 4H Futurity Champions. We strive to raise a versatile horse that can go any direction you choose. We are extremely fortunate to have some exceptional stallions that we stand that have bloodlines that are as good as you will find anywhere. All three of our Stock Horse stallions are cow or reining bred, and are athletes in their own right. Our broodmares range from race bred to cowhorse breeding, or a combination there of. This years offering consists of NMSU raised horses, and donated stock. I am excited about this group of quality horses. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for a show prospect, ranch horse, roping horse, barrel horse, or are looking to get into the breeding business, we have something for you. There is lots of potential here to get an athletic horse with outstanding bloodlines at a very good price. This sale not only serves as a major source of revenue for our teaching efforts and extracurricular student activities, but it is an excellent “hands on” teaching tool for our students. The students have put forth a very high quality effort this year in terms of sale catalog preparation and advertising. More information about the horses, pictures, and examples of the students’ work will be posted to our departmental website (http://spectre.nmsu.edu/dept/academic.html?i=1324) after April 1, 2019. In closing, I look forward to the chance to visit with buyers, alumni, and friends on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Please make plans to attend this year’s expo and sale to view what the NMSU Horse Program has to offer and to show your support for what we do. If you need more information about the sale offering, please contact me at (575)-646-1345 at my office, (575)202-3646 on my cell, or by email [email protected]. Sincerely,
Joby Priest Instructor of Equine Science NMSU Horse Farm Manager

Lot # 1 NMSU Three Jay Kandl Stall # 4B
2004, Chestnut AQHA Mare
This is a big, stout, 15 year old mare that has been there and done that. She has been shown in Ranch Horse Competitions all over the country. “Tot” has won several events at SHOT and ASHA shows. She is athletic, an excellent mover, with a great stop, and a lot of turn. This mare can be a little “herd bound” so I would not suggest a beginner rider. She is the dam to four foals, with two being shown. She sells as a riding horse, but with her pedigree would make a great broodmare as well.
Sire: Three Jay Colonel Earned 167 points in AQHA with a Performance ROM, and $3,253.42 in NRHA. 2003 High Point Senior Versatility Ranch Horse 3rd place, and 4th place all around Versatility Ranch Horse in 2005. Produced 11 performers that have earned 167.5 performance points and earned over $3,000 in NRHA earnings.
Dam: NMSU Kelsey Kandle (1997) Dam of 11 Foals, 4 of which were Performers earning over 60 AQHA points, including an AQHA Novice Champion in Reining.
