    Non-vegetarian meal plan by age:

    12 months

    Written for BabyCenter India

    It is important that you start introducing a in your toddler's diet

    gradually. These will provide the calories, proteins, vitamins and minerals that are

    essential for her growth. The amount of food eaten would vary from child to child and

    would also depend on when you a particular food to your toddler. Talk to

    your doctor about meal timing, serving size and the gap between meals. You can then

    work out a schedule that would suit your child.

    Here we have planned a week's sample menu for your toddler. She may or may not

    eat the exact amounts given here. You may even need to skip an option initially till

    she gets used to eating right. See how it works for you.

    French toast made with 1/2 - 1 slice of wheat bread.

    1 fresh fruit cubed into small pieces or 1 cup of

    fruit or vegetable juice or 1 cup of tomato or vegetable soup.

    cup mashed paneer gravy and 1

    chappati/parantha or 1/4 cup paneer and peas curry and 1

    chappati or 1/2 cup rice.

    1 cup milkshake with a fruit of your choice

    (bananas, mangoes or strawberries).

    cup haryali chicken curry (made with spinach puree)

    with 1 chappati or 1/2 cup rice.

    Early Morning:

    Lunch (Curd optional):

    Tuesday

    Breastfeed Or 1 cup full cream milk.

    cup cereal such as ragi (nachni) or dalia cooked

    in whole cream milk Add -1 tsp of powdered or finely chopped

    dry fruits to increase the nutritive value.

    1 fresh fruit cubed into small pieces or 1 cup of

    fruit or vegetable juice or 1 cup of tomato or vegetable soup.

    de-boned and mashed fish and potato curry with parantha.

    milk.

    1 1/2 - 1 parantha stuffed with grated cheeseOr1/2 -

    1egg parantha.

    Breastfeed Or 1 cup full cream milk.

    1 small moong dal cheela (dosa) with coriander or

    tomato chutney.

    1 fresh fruit cubed into small pieces or 1 cup of

    fruit or vegetable juice or 1 cup of tomato or vegetable soup.

    cup egg or chicken curry with cup

    rice or 1 roti. If your baby is up to eating a bit more, you may

    also try giving her 1-2 tablespoon of mashed vegetables that

    you are eating.

    1/2 banana muffin or a slice of cake with 1/2

    cup milk.

    1/2 cup baked vegetables such as cauliflower, beans

    and peas, mashed potatoes with soup.

    Thursday

    Breastfeed Or 1 cup full cream milk.

    1/2 - 1 vegetable parantha stuffed with boiled and

    mashed potatoes, peas and carrots.

    1 fresh fruit cubed into small pieces or 1 cup of

    fruit or vegetable juice or 1 cup of tomato or vegetable soup.

    1/4 cup soya granules and aloo curry

    with 1/2 cup rice or 1 chapatti.

    1 whole grain cracker with a small cube/slice

    of cheese or Any soup variety.

    cup tomato fish curry, cup rice, 1-2 tablespoons of

    vegetables such as lauki or pumpkin.

    Early Morning:

    Friday

    Breastfeed Or 1 cup full cream milk.

    - 1/2 cup suji upma with vegetables such as finely

    chopped beans and carrots.

    1 fresh fruit cubed into small pieces or 1 cup of

    fruit or vegetable juice or 1 cup of tomato or vegetable soup.

    cup butter chicken/chicken curry

    with 1 chapatti or cup rice. You may also want to add 2-3

    tablespoons of seasonal vegetables or a mixed vegetable such

    as methi aloo or gobhi matar if your baby seems hungrier.

    1/2 to 1 cup mixed fruit chaat with chopped

    Occasionally, you may want to serve . Do remember to keep your toddler's

    daily sugar intake to about 1-2 tsp, and use honey or jaggery (gur) to sweeten the

    dessert instead of sugar.

    Hi All, my baby is 15months old, he is having nearly 12 teethes but he hesitate

    to chew his food, he only swallows the food. Please suggest me how to teach

    him to chew his food and also he hesitate to drink milk or juice or any liquid

    food in a tumbler or sipper. Please suggest me some way to have his food

    properly

    Yes you can give your 11 month old non-veg chicken stew. Boil 2 pieces of

    boneless chicken + tomato + 1 potato. Give it with mashed rice.
