The Clarksville Montgomery County Nonprofit Partnership Network (NPN) is a growing coalition of community organizations and citizens that exist to unify and support the nonprofit community. The mission of NPN is to strengthen the community by improving the viability, impact, and effectiveness of it’s nonprofit organizations. NPN strives to strengthen the connection between nonprofit organizations and business partners through comprehensive education, networking and community awareness. NPN is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the community by advancing the capacity and focus of

nonprofit organizations to meet current and future community needs. Through training, events, online resources, peer support and the exchange of ideas, the NPN helps organizations respond to the increased demand for services while coping with diminished resources. It also serves as a catalyst and convener for forging new partnerships and collaborations in the community. From promoting volunteer work through Hands on Clarksville, sharing information, creating inclusive collaborative groups and connecting across missions, NPN is working to make our community a better place for everyone to live.

Annual “Connecting for Good” Fair A resource fair dedicated to bringing local nonprofit organizations, human service organizations and the community together. The “Connecting for Good” community resource fair will showcase social issues and opportunities for community action.

FOUNDERRita Arancibia is the founder of NPN. A native of

Illinois, she has lived in Clarksville since 2002 with her husband Dr. Marcos Arancibia. To friends, colleagues and community leaders she is

known for her involvement in community organizations throughout Clarksville. Rita’s love for helping people started at an early age. She has been volunteering for more than 40 years. Throughout her career Rita has been an active

organizer. From community festivals in rural Illinois, development of the Clarksville Downtown Market, organizing outreach programs in Public Housing to connecting various civic and community groups to bring about positive change in her community. She is known for leading people from idea to action and turning ideas for change into projects that change lives and build community. In 2003, she organized a Housing and Homeless

Coalition, which under her leadership and vision, helped create the Old Fire House Day Shelter and Resource Center and Room in the Inn Winter Shelter Program for homeless persons. In 2009, she started Empty Bowls, a grass roots

initiative providing support to Loaves and Fishes and Urban Ministries Grace Assistance Food Pantry. Recently, she founded Hands on Clarksville along

with a community advisory team. Hands On Clarksville is a program of Hands on Nashville and works toinspire and mobilize volunteers and create new volunteer opportunities to bring citizens into service.

HISTORY

The first Nonprofit Partnership Network meeting was held in partnership with Hands On Clarksville on April 12, 2011 to celebrate National Volunteer Month. More than 24 local organizations and agencies attended the gathering. A unanimous decision was made to formalize the NPN and 51 individuals attended the May 12, 2011 Partnership Network meeting held at the Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library. The meeting included a program about grant writing and fund raising led by Hands on Nashville staff.

‘AMERICA SINGS!’

On the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 members of NPN supported Hands on Clarksville/Hands on Nashville as they produced “America Sings,” a memorial concert that was part of the “Serve to Remember” project. The concert took place at Austin

Peay State University in the Clement Auditorium and featured several artists, including members of the National Songwriters Association International (NSAI). The Corporation for National

Community Service issued a challenge

to communities nationwide to engage volunteers into community service from September 1 to 11. Rita Arancibia and the Hands On

organizations answered the challenge and set a goal to engage 600 volunteers in the allotted time. If successful, they would be eligible to

receive a $25, 000 grant for future 9/11 remembrances. The concert was the finale idea to help

meet this challenge.Rita and Hands not only met their goal, but surpassed it by engaging 890 volunteers.
