support our initiatives as we embark upon our 15th Year of Service to the community. NDSA continues to be an ‘Award Winning Chapter’. Sister-2-Sister ~ Staying Connected

Greetings to All my Sisters!

It was a long hot summer! However, we always land on our feet...WE can handle the heat! We had a grand ole time in Nawlins (New Orleans, LA) at our 5Oth NATIONAL CONVENTION! We had 66 sorors that registered for the convention from our chapter! The turnout was excellent, the workshops and plenaries were great, and we left energized to continue with the work of Delta on the local level. We reconnected with family, old friends, line sisters and connected with new sorors as well. We bonded as a chapter at various events including our chapter dinner, which was held at Oceana Seafood Restaurant in the French Quarter on July 31st.

After returning from the National Convention, we kept the Chapter in motion! We hosted our Annual Chapter Retreat at the Doubletree Club Hotel on August 27-28, 2010. Sixty-six sorors registered and 2 of the 3 guest sorors joined our chapter at the retreat! Every registered soror spent an overnight stay of fellowship and bonding, before we start another busy Sorority year! The retreat theme was, “Sister-2-Sister Luau: Staying Connected”. With the Hawaiian theme and setting, we had so much fun!! Games, contest, and of course our swap-meet! We also had a Sisterhood Workshop! Everyone that attended expressed what an awesome time they had, and the food was delicious! I would like to acknowledge the Sorors who participated in the planning and execution of the retreat! Special thanks to Sorors: Gale Barge ( Past President -Dallas Alumnae) , who facilitated the workshop, Jada Burton, Kit Norman, Barbara Speed, Michelle Blakely, Valerie Mayo, Margaret Kyle, Monica Lott, Joy Hayden, Jennifer Stimpson, Candace Sharper, Lisa Morgan, and last but not least, our President Carolyn Matthews.

We are still on the move, since our Opening Chapter Meeting on September 16th (My B-Day), we completed the New Member Orientation on October 2nd with 34 sorors in attendance, and had our 1st ~ 2nd Sunday Brunch at Harwood 609 Restaurant and Jazz Club. We had a great turn-out of Sorors with their families, friends, and guest sorors!

The Membership Services Committee is energized, motivate, and on the move to provide activities that will help reclaim and retain Sorors. Thank you all and welcome new and reinstated Sorors! Help NDSA to continue to grow in Delta and in the spirit of our glorious Sisterhood... and be the best Chapter in the Blazing Southwest!

Sisterly & With Much Delta Love,

Soror Patricia A. Jenkins

The Kick-off Meeting of the 2010-2011 Delta Academy/GEMS and RAFT event was well received. The kick-off meeting was held at Richland College where re-turning and new members of both commit-tees received program instructions and a calendar of events.

Delta Academy/GEMS

First Session - October 9, 2010

The first session of Delta Academy/GEMS was held at the Willie B. Johnson Recrea-tion center where the Academy and GEMS young ladies discussed the importance of setting SMART Goals and the tools neces-sary to reach their goals. The literary focus this year is Always Sisters: Becoming the Princess You Were Created to Be by CeCe Winans. This daily devotional book will be reviewed each session to guide the par-ticipants on discovering "The princess God intended them to be -- by knowing who they are as His daughter and who they can be as a sister to those who walk along side them."
