There are some upcoming community events I hope you will be a part of in the month of August. The North Olmsted Kiwanis, Fat Head’s Brewery and myself, have joined together for the ultimate North Olmsted 5K run and walk. I hope you will join me on Saturday, August 25 th at 9:30am. Fun and entertainment for the whole family. Register online or call my office for assistance at 440-716-4142. MAYOR’S CORNER

I hope you are enjoying your summer. There are some upcoming

community events I hope you will be a part of in the month of August.

The North Olmsted Kiwanis, Fat Head’s Brewery and myself, have joined

together for the ultimate North Olmsted 5K run and walk.

I hope you will join me on Saturday, August 25th at 9:30am. Fun and

entertainment for the whole family. Register online or call my office for

North Olmsted’s annual Homecoming Celebration features food, rides,

carnival games, vendors and music. One of the highlights, the

Homecoming parade, begins at 12:30pm on Sunday afternoon. This yearly

event is organized by volunteers with Community Council. The annual

Homecoming events are scheduled from Thursday, August 23rd through

Sunday, August 26th. Please be sure to make a trip to North Olmsted Park

to enjoy this community event.

The Pharmacist from Walgreens,

Narges, will be providing infor-

mation and answering questions

about the new shingles vaccine.

The CDC recommends that individuals over the

age of 50 get this new vaccine to protect them-

selves from shingles.

23rd – ROCKY RIVER NATURE

CENTER Marty Calabrese joins us to discuss

“Common Backyard Animals”

Which animals you can safely

approach and the ones you should leave alone!

He will also bring along a few of the Nature

Centers resident animals.

Westshore Senior Center Walking

Challenge sponsored by St. John

Medical Center. Begin and end this

six-week walking and wellness

challenge with a free pedometer and

health screenings: cholesterol,

glucose, blood pressure, BMI, waist

circumference. Prizes will be

awarded for improvements and steps.

The Senior Center with the most

improved health screenings wins!

1:30pm to 3:30 pm/RR Senior Center Join us for phase three of

the Trivia Challenge

competition between the

Rocky River, Westlake

Spruce Primary School Teachers. All

items will be collected at the NOSC

of items needed: Pencils, Erasers,

Hand Sanitizers, Boxes of Band-Aids, Stickers, Small packs

of tissues, i.e. Kleenex, Markers, Crayons, Post-it notes. Your

donations are greatly appreciated!

All persons 60 and older are welcome to join us for lunch. A reg-

istration form must be completed and can be obtained at the

front desk. Once this has been completed and is on file, you may

sign up for any lunches that you choose. Please contact the

center for more details. This program was made possible by a

Grant from the Ohio Department of Aging through the Western

Reserve Area Agency on Aging. Please acquire your lunch ticket

at the sign in desk and be in your seats no later than 11:15am.
