INVOCATION(The name of the triune God and the sign of the cross remind worshipers of their baptisms.)

M: The grace of our Lord (+) Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you.

C: And also with you

CONFESSIONM: God invites us to come into his presence and worship him with humble and

penitent hearts. Therefore, let us acknowledge our sinfulness and ask him to forgive us.

C: Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful, and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity. But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior Jesus Christ, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

ABSOLUTIONM: God, our heavenly Father, has been merciful to us and has given his only

Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Therefore, as a called servant of Christ and by his authority, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son (+) and of the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen.

PRAYER AND PRAISE

LORD, HAVE MERCYKyrie

M: For all that we need in life and for the wisdom to use all your gifts with gratitude and joy, hear our prayer, O Lord.

M: Almighty God and Savior, you have set the final day and hour when we shall be delivered from this world of sin and death. THE WORD OF GOD*THE FIRST LESSON: ISAIAH 52:1-6

Awake, awake, O Zion, clothe yourself with strength. Put on your garments of splendor, O Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again. 2 Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, O Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, O captive Daughter of Zion. 3 For this is what the Lord says: “You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed.” 4 For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “At first my people went down to Egypt to live; lately, Assyria has oppressed them. 5 “And now what do I have here?” declares the Lord. “For my people have been taken away for nothing, and those who rule them mock,” declares the Lord. “And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed. 6 Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day they will know that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I.” (NIV)

*The Word of God“The reading of the Lessons is a highlight of a service. The spiritually hungry have come to be fed and nurtured and to drink from the waters of life. Knowing that ‘faith comes from hearing the message,’ God’s people listen intently with attention aroused to be blessed by the hearing of God’s Word.” Christian Worship Manual

PSALM OF THE DAY: 84

How lovely is your dwelling place,*O LORD Almighty!

My soul yearns, even faints,*for the courts of the LORD.

Blessed are those who dwell in your house;*they are ever praising you.

RefrainBetter is one day in your courts*

than a thousand elsewhere;

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God*than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

O LORD Almighty,*blessed are they who trust in you.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son*and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,*is now, and will be forever. Amen.

THE SECOND LESSON: 1 THESSALONIANS 4:13-18

13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be misinformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18

Therefore encourage one other with these words. (NIV)

temple. Alleluia. (Revelation 7:15a)

THE GOSPEL LESSON: MATTHEW 25:1-13

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ 7 “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones

said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ 9” ‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go

to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The

virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

11 “Later the others also came. ‘Sir! Sir!’ they said. ‘Open the door for us!’ 12 “But he replied, ‘I tell you the truth, I don’t know you.’ 13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. (NIV)

THE NICENE CREED

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,eternally begotten of the Father,God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,begotten, not made, of one being with the Father.

Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation, he came down from heaven,

was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and became fully human.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,

and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,who in unity with the Father and the Son

is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.We look for the resurrection of the dead

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTIONM: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night he was betrayed, took bread; and when

he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”Then he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

M: The peace of the Lord be with you always.

Thanksgiving Food Drive Our annual Fall Food Drive begins this weekend and will continue through the first part of December. Christmas Decorating It’s that time of year again for us to start thinking about decorating our church and grounds for Christmas. We will gather to do that on Saturday, November 28 starting at 10:00 AM. We’d love to have you join us.

Vacancy PastorWe thank Pastor Nuss for serving us with God’s Word in Worship and Bible class today. Pastor Nuss will lead us November 22. Pastor Joel Schwartz from Peace in Trinity, FL is serving us as our coordinating vacancy pastor. We work with him to plan Sunday preachers and meet other pastoral needs of our congregation during this vacancy. Pastor Schwartz can be reached at the contact information below should you be in need of his assistance. [email protected] Mobile: 727-938-6321

Face Coverings for WorshipThe Ministry Leadership Team has decided to require face coverings for the 8:00 AM service and Bible class at 9:25 AM. Children 7 years old and under are not required to wear face coverings. Face coverings will continue to be encouraged, but not required, for the 10:30 AM service. It is the intent of the MLT that this change would remove barriers that may exist for those that feel strongly about wearing masks while also presenting options for those that feel differently. We want our people to feel comfortable and safe while worshiping online or in-person.
