Assessment  Procedure  All  assessment  for  this  course  is  competency  based,  and  mainly  consists  of  assignments,  tests  and  project  work.    All  assessments  must  be  satisfactorily  completed  in  order  to  achieve  a  pass  in  this  course.    You  will  receive  assessment  details  and  schedules  separately.

Language,  Literacy  and  Numeracy  (reading,  writing,  spelling,  listening  and  numeracy)    To  assist  us  in  supporting  student  success,  all  students  enrolled  on  level  1-3  programmes  can  expect  to  complete  language,  literacy  and  numeracy  (LLN)  diagnostic  assessments.  The  results  of  the  assessment  will  help  both  you  and  your  tutor  understand  your  literacy  and  numeracy  needs  so  that  your  tutor  can  support  your  studies  with  good  confidence  and  understanding:      The  intention  is  to  help:

•   Provide  you  with  an  awareness  of  the  language,  literacy  and  numeracy  demands  of  your  programme,  and  of  LLN’s  importance  to  your  learning,  you  being  successful  at  your  chosen  career  and  enjoyment  of  everyday  life.

•   Provide  you  with  strategies  to  recognise  your  current  language,  literacy  and  numeracy  skills.

•   Provide  the  teaching  strategies  and  moments  to  allow  you  to  improve  your  LLN  skills  and  to  apply  those  to  your  learning.

•   Encourage  and  develop  your  ability  to  become  a  self-directed  learner  (through  improved  confidence  in  your  study  skills).

You  will  be  able  to  repeat  the  test  before  finishing  your  programme  to  see  how  you  have  improved.      (LLN  diagnostic  results  are  not  part  of  your  grades  for  the  course)      Note:  The  purpose  of  giving  overall  class  tests  is  to  help  with  your  individual  learning  and  help  the  tutor  put  in  place  learning  strategies.  You  may  feel  that  your  prior  education  should  exclude  you  from  the  test,  however,  many  people  do  have  difficulties  with  literacy  and  numeracy  and  the  purpose  of  doing  the  test  as  a  class  as  a  whole  is  to  ensure  that  no  individuals  are  singled  out,  so  please  complete  the  test  so  that  the  results  are  fair  and  accurate  to  support  everyone’s  learning.
