    Statement of need: The need for this activity stems from the ever changing and expanding fund of knowledge that exists in the Wound Care field. Also the strain of chronic wounds on both the patient and health system as a whole provide reason to host an educational conference. This symposium will address current concerns and knowledge gaps as well as provide various solutions to everyday problems faced by wound care practitioners and patients. This CME activity aims to provide Wound Care professionals and specialists with up-to-date knowledge and techniques of current wound care practices.

    Program objectives: All Northwell Health CME activities aredesigned to improve patient care, safety and outcomes. Atthe conclusion of this conference, participants should beable to:

    – Examine current treatment and challenges incurred from the COVID pandemic with the effect on wound care.

    – Assess the ways in which diabetes guides the formulation of medical, surgical, nutritional and podiatric treatment plans.

    – Discuss the use of current topical wound therapies for optimal wound healing.

    – Integrate advances in limb salvage in helping to assist in wound healing

    – Recommend guidelines for identifying and controlling infection in different types of wounds

    – Review skills needed to assess wounds and demonstrate dressing management.

    Target audience: Wound Care Specialists, Vascular Surgeons, Dermatologists, Podiatrists, Nutritionists, Physical Therapists, Orthotists, Prosthetists, Pedorthists, PAs, NPs, RNs, Residents, and Fellows.

    Joint Accreditation Statement: In support of improving patient care, Northwell Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

    Credit Designation Statements – Physicians: Northwell Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

    – Nurses: Northwell designates this activity for 7 ANCC contact hours.

    – Physician Assistant: Northwell Health has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 7 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

    – Registered Dietitians (RDs) and Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs): Northwell Health designates this activity for 7.0 CPEU contact hours. RDs and DTRs are to select activity type 102 in their Activity Log. Performance indicator selection is at the learner’s discretion.

    – Orthotist credits: Northwell Health has been approved for continuing education credits by the Continuing Education Committee of the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics. A total of 13 category 1 maximum credits will be granted to attend the live and on-demand sessions.

    – Podiatry: Credits have been approved by the Continuing Education Committee of the State for Podiatry. A total maximum of 15 CPE Level 3 credits will be granted to those who attend both Track 1: Advance Wound Care & Track 2: Extended Wound Care.

    – Physical Therapy Credit Designation: Long Island Jewish Medical Center, a member of Northwell Health is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Physical Therapy as an approved provider of physical therapy and physical therapist assistant continuing education. This event is awarded a maximum of 16.8 contact hours. Please note the total number of contact hours will vary depending upon the participant track selection. Participants should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Certificates of completion will be e-mailed to participants of the corresponding disciplines after the event.

    Disclosure policy: Northwell Health adheres to the ACCME’s Standards for Commercial Support.
