All throughout December, “Luvhani,” took us on a
Mexican tour by bringing Mexican cuisine to us as
mentioned. A pop-up stall that was actually a
food truck, parked at Thavhani Mall from the 12th
of December 2020 till the 3rd of January 2021.
Personally for LU, the experience was exciting but
we’d be interested to find out who else visited the
stall and how they found it. Do you know the
tastebud dance? Well, the spicy and cheesy
Mexican delicacies like Tacos, Nachos, Loaded-
cheese fries and Enchiladas definitely were in tune
and making everyone’s tastebuds do the Jarabe
Tapatío.
The stall served a variety of different flavoured
wings with a side of Fizzy Oros, yup, you heard
that right and Venda’s weather had nothing on
these combos. The LU Fam experienced every bit
of this amazing period with The tastebud team
and we cannot wait for more experiences, we
hope you don’t miss out too, if you did.
F: Luvhani Nemanashi
On today’s menu, we are
serving a returning
feature who we might
have already sold out,
Mexican cuisine and a
few pictures to help give
you a proper look of the
experience LU got to
capture in December.
Now, Listen up.

And now on to it, when we reached out to her we asked her a few questions
about her Insta, fashion and we are sure you are wondering why we
mentioned “ ‘F’-ilanthropy “, you’ll see; or read rather.
“No, I don’t consider myself as an influencer but an influential person rather”-
She loves to see herself helping other people and helping them become
better version of themselves. Now sitting at 7400 followers, she stared her
Instagram account back in 2015 after in her words; “lost weight and posting
my body was something I grew to love so much” She further said; “we all
have different stories and weight loss isn’t the norm, not for me at least; so
feel beautiful in your skin, your curves, your marks and what whatever makes
you happy and unique , that’s your content and it matters”
WHAT IS FASHIONTO YOU?
A 20 year old young lady from Venda who is
currently living in Cape Town. Carrying a Degree in
BSc Psychology and Political Sciences; she is
currently working on her Honors. Blue is her favorite
colour, she sings, she writes and is so into fashion
that she always looks so “high-end” every single time
she glams up. Tshifhiwa Mphaphuli LU readers.
In this very fast-moving world, it’s rare to find
people who are still very invested in their growth
and not only theirs but others too. People who still
have time for more than all these other things the
world gives us to keep us away from reality and
more.
Let’s call this segment: Fashion and ‘F’-ilanthropy.
She’s currently on this platform to help further grow as a
person and brand. She also hopes she can one day meet
Bonang Matheba because she admires her work ethic,
style and fashion, persistence and resilience and most of
all her story as a woman with a dream that manifested
into greatness and all that Queen B is.
Fashion
“I believe that fashion is a language that people speak
indirectly, the best way you can express yourself and
communicate who you really are to other people. Fashion
means beauty and value and life to me, actually, ‘a lot’, but
our individuality comes through fashion as well and so I
take it very seriously. An instrument we can use to express
ourselves better”
Remember when we said she was so into fashion?
We meant it.
She told us how when she thinks
about fashion, her mind, heart and
soul have to delegate because
fashion is that ‘major’ for her, “it heals
me”. And soon she’ll be heading into
the fashion industry fully because of
her immense love for it. “If I had the
money? I’d change my outfits every
second.”; she said.

‘F’-ilanthropy
If you didn’t know then now you do, Tshifhiwa
Mphaphuli Foundation is up and running.
Projects are in the brew. Firstly, the name;
“me wanting to be an influential person, means
that what I wanna leave behind should be a
legacy for all my people and myself hence the
name and as a woman, I wanted to bring
change.”
Tshifhiwa is about to become a change maker
indeed. Tapping into the differences between
opportunities that girls in rural and urban
communities face, she wants to be the merger
of it all. She really believes in her and not just
that but self-awareness and self-actualization.
She wants to give girls without the tools,
opportunities to actually make it big in the
world even before fully tapping into it and
hopes a lot of girls, young women and people in
general benefit from her foundation. Above all
this, the foundation would love to be invested
in, as an NPO it obviously needs money to get
things done but, the participation from
everyone would be most appreciated, so
readers, DM or talk to Tshifhiwa, let’s build this
together.

8 LUFASHION & ‘F’-ILANTHROPY
Tshifhiwa has often been misjudged and given
personas She doesn’t even click with and through
LU, She has a feeling that a door for her to truly let
herself; her real self out there has been opened.
“This platform will not only help me tell people
about who I am but also grow my brand especially
this foundation and so can you; grow from this and
support start ups, all kinds and I really appreciate
LU for this opportunity.”.

ART GALLERY IN A MAG
M A S H U D U L I V I N G S T O N E M U T S I L A
1. I would define Art as anything we make or do that plays with emotions, we can makesomething to make people feel hopeful, empathetic or just to make people laugh. Artshould also be about the artist I think, we tend to box artists to always create art that issaying something to the world outside, I believe sometimes it can just be about the artistand what it means to them. I make art of just what I like, the buildings I design are inspiredby thousands of pictures of houses I used to have on my phone that I would spend hoursstaring at, imagining myself living in.
The Architectural designs I do are what I want to see populating the world, they are mostlyconceptual designs, this is because I want to break the circle of familiar designs we aresee being built around us, I want the built environment to be a bit more ambitious.
3. On the Architecture side, I would like to meet Peter Zumthor and Bjarke Ingels, these two also heavily influence my approach to Architectural design. My art isinspired by Jono Dry and this is one artist I would really love to meet one day.
4. Can't say I have much complaints on the architecture side, I am getting clientsthat I think are good for someone who is still studying, the art side, started off a bitshaky because I was constantly doing commission portraits drawings and that meantI would always not have pieces I could show in an exhibition or gallery but ever sinceI stopped, I have been working on my own pieces that I will be able to exhibitsometime in the future.
5. I am currently studying to become an Architect at the university of Cape Town butthat only goes half with building my own Architecture and Art company.
6. I am very big on my work being seen as a work by a Venda person, and as this isa voice for Venda people, it would only make sense that work is also voiced here.
b’art[ b(brother) + (art) ]
brothers in art
On the other hand I am doing a series of drawings called Figure Study, this is to showlove to women of this generation who are frowned upon for showing their bodies andjust to let that be seen as Art and to be respected as is.
2. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember but designing houses startedafter I drew a house in high school, and with my obsession with modern architecture Ithought it would only make sense if I design my own dream house but I kept re-designing it each time I got better at drawing.so far it has been doing good, I get clients which is a good income on the side andwhen I am not working on a project, I get enough time to build a portfolio of theambitious designs I hope to build...
I would be described as an artist, graphic designer and aspiring Architect. I am 23years old, and I spend most of my time in my head, I believe there's an entire world
in my imagination that I need to find a way to bring into the real world, hence theArchitectural designs. I am currently doing a research on architecture by the Venda
people also how they lived.I want to know enough about how we were, so I can be in a better position to
imagine how life would be today if the Venda people had not come in contact withthe Europeans. I believe we could have evolved in our own way and I am trying toexplore that. Also, I have just been working on my health (through soccer mostly),
exercising everyday just keep my body and mind healthy.

1. Art to me is the ability and skill toeffortlessly bring feelings, ideas andimaginations to life in a creativeinterpretation. I'm into Realism, check the term out.
2. Having a family background ofartistry, my venture in art was quiteearly, although I started growingmuch fond of art around 2015.When I say family, I speak of mybrother. I basically I just used tocopy my brother while he did hisown stuff trying to compete with himbut little did I know that I’d fall in lovewith drawing. It started very small, drawing Dragon Ball Z sketches andthe likes but in 2015, that allchanged. I felt the need to bettermyself in terms of drawing so I tookit upon myself to challenge thistalent, and guess what, I succeededby starting to draw realistic portraitsof the people around me and gotthem right. I’ve grown to love doingthat, working with completestrangers and getting their actualityon drawing paper, that’s my lingo, that’s the kind of art I’m into.
P H I N D U L O M U T S I L A
I’m a very private person. I havea very small circle of friends butI’m somehow known by a lot ofpeople. Anyways, I’m reallychilled, like to get along withprople, I’m into soccer andphotography and I’m 20. Lastly,I’m a very happy soul and I don’tneed anyone to tell me because Ican’t think of days I felt miserableor sad so that must saysomething.
3. Jono Dry and Arinze, checkthem out.
4. The artistry is going well, all myart pieces, as of recently have
been a pleasurable achievement.Definitely no faults thus far.
5. I don’t really want to get into
what I’m doing academically or so,for whoever has interest, I’m a
Student and that’s all.
6. We all have different things weate passionate about, most of you
must know my name or heard ofme but don’t really know what I’m
into or like doing but here’s thisstart-up magazine, LU, featuringme and giving me exposure right
but just as much as I’m getting outthere on a small scale, I feel that
being rooted to my ethnicity is whatI feel most proud of by being a part
of the LU family so let’s not shyaway from giving them the tools
and support they need.

Questions
1. What/which artist/s inspire/s you? (At most3)
2. Who in the music industry would youcompare yourself to?
3. What inspired the new project?4. What are the differences between your
last project and this new project?5. When can we expect this project to fully

UNEDITEDUNEDITEDI N TERV I EWS
-
From his debut with us through his previous album, MUYA and a bit on hisanimated series ‘I and Infinity’, he’s back yet again, he’s about to release yet
again and question is, are you ready?
1. Lots of different types, having formally studied art and design I've seen thesethings have a direct connection with each other, even music, so my inspirations
vary, from Movie Directors, animators, old music, designers. My personalinspiration comes from the lessons I learn as I grow as well as the need to always
improve my craft.
2. Literally no one, maybe a combination of a few people?
NDADZI SINGLE WRITE UP:
Ndadzi, which means lightning in Tshivenda is an ode to having ahigher sense of calling. It is based around the idea that I have beensent, by a higher force just like the lightning itself. The lightning alsobeing a symbol for the intensity of the art I create and the messages
within it and how it is delivered, it is a symbol for a force too quick andpowerful to be contained and represents the atitude to conquer that I
carry.
THAVHA ALBUM WRITE UP:
Thavha, which means mountain in Tshivenda, is an album thatrepresents the peak. This could either be the peak of great things, the
peak of a challenge that is meant to usher new growth, the peak ofones on introspective journey of self embeterment or even the peak of
confusion. This has to do with how the cycle of life is constantlyturning in no one’s favour, and no matter how we look at it we arealways at a peak, whether it be the peak of a low or the peak of a
high. we must learn to embrace the peaks of the bad just as we dowith the good, in order to get the most out of both, wether it be
progress or a lesson.
3. My new project wasnt necessarily inspired by a single thought or event, I wasjust making music as I always am and found that the collection of lessons in the
music I was making was closely linked and relevant to the place I am at in my lifeat the moment, through introspection and past reflection. I decided probably aftermaking 8 beats or so that this would be its own project as opposed to just being a
random collection of sounds on my computer.I named it Thavha because ithighlights different peaks in life both good and bad but each vital for growth.
4. I think the difference is in the sounds and textures, this project is much brighterbut still very aggressive, as always the productionis experimental so it cant really
be compared to any of my previous projects, even as far as the subject mattergoes, because the personal and artistic growth move together for me at this point.
5. The full album drops March 5, 2021.
