    Advertisement for contractual appointment in

    Labour Bureau

    Recruitment to the posts of Senior Consultant, Junior Consultant,

    Investigator Grade-I and Investigator Grade-II on contract basis for

    a period of six months in Labour Bureau, Chandigarh under the

    scheme of Base Year Updation of Consumer Price Index Numbers for

    Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) series.

    Labour Bureau Chandigarh, an attached office of Ministry of Labour &Employment, invites online applications from eligible candidates in the

    prescribed proforma (available on website of labour bureau) from the

    citizens of India to fill up the following posts purely on contractual basis for

    GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS :

    The candidates must ensure that they fulfil eligibility criteriaprescribed for a post. In respect of equivalent clause in Essential

    Qualifications, if a candidate is claiming a particular qualification as

    equivalent qualification as per the requirement of advertisement, then thecandidate is required to produce order/letter in this regard, indicating theAuthority (with number and date) under which it has been so treated

    otherwise the Application is liable to be rejected. If at any stage, it is foundthat the candidate has furnished any incorrect information or has suppressed

    material fact (s), his/her candidature will stand cancelled. If any of theseshortcoming(s) is/are detected even after the appointment, his/her services

    will be summarily terminated. Canvassing, directly or indirectly, will betreated as a disqualification.

    In case, a very large number of applications are received and it is notpracticable to call all candidates for test / interview, the applications will be

    short-listed and only the shortlisted candidates will be called for aninterview. Labour Bureau may enhance the advertised standards to limit the

    number of candidates being called for test / interview. A list of thecandidates shortlisted for interview will be uploaded on Labour Bureaus

    website http://www.labourbureau.gov.in

    The crucial date for determining eligibility for being considered would be the

    last date fixed for receipt of applications. Any additional qualifications,

    experience, honours and other achievements gained by the candidate during

    . The shortlisted candidates shouldnote down the date, place & time of interview from the website. No

    separate intimation will be sent through post or other means. All theother notices and updates will also be made available on the website of theLabour Bureau . So, the candidates are advised to visit the Labour Bureaus

    website on regular basis for further instructions/notices.

    The shortlisted candidates will be required to attend the interview withoriginal and duly attested photocopies of testimonials, certificates/Degrees

    at such place, as may be fixed by the Labour Bureau. At the time ofinterview, the short listed candidates should bring with them a print out of

    the application form after affixing their recent passport size Photograph andput their signature against the space provided against these in theapplication form. The Labour Bureau do not defray the traveling or otherexpenses of candidates summoned for interview

    the period between the last date of application and the date of conducting

    the interview will not be taken into consideration. Reservation and

    Relaxation in age to SC, ST, OBC, etc. would be given as per orders issued

    by Government of India from time to time. In exceptional cases the

    appointing authority may relax the age and other qualifications.

    Important: As CPI-IW is a time bound scheme, the job involves

    extensive touring within the country. The applicants are, therefore, advised

    to keep in mind their physical health condition before applying for the

    selection. The appointee in no case will be excused from field visits/tours on

    health ground or otherwise.

    The contractual appointees shall complete the assigned work in specified

    time frame and will not be allowed to take up any other assignments during

    the currency of contract.

    Age ,Fee,Educational Qualifications & Experience:

    Age: For applying to any of the four category of posts, A candidate mustbe of minimum 21 years of age as on last date of receipt of applications.

    The upper age limit for each category of the post is 65 years.

    Fee: No fee isrequired to be paid for applying to any of the posts.

    Cat 1 Senior Consultant

    Professionals having a Ph.D degree in Economics, Statistics,Mathematics, Information Technology, Commerce or Finance and

    Qualification and Number of Senior Consultants

    minimum post - qualification experience of 10 years in the requisite

    field.

    Retired Government employees from posts in Grade pay of Rs.8700/7600 and above or equivalent & having at least 10/12 years

    experience respectively in the above mentioned field would also beeligible for this position.

    Desirable Good Academic Record.

    Good Communication Skills, both oral and written. Analytical and presentation skills with ability to generate well

    researched reports. Experience in imparting training for collection, compilation and analysis

    of data & having skills relating to Information Technology andCommunication and knowledge of preparation of Project

    Reports/Reviews/Notes/Briefs etc.

    Fee:The monthly consolidated fee payable to Senior Consultant shall be

    Rs. 50000.00 per month. TA/DA shall be paid in addition when

    deputed for field duties.

    Duties A Senior Consultant will provide high quality consultancy

    services to the Labour Bureau, for attending to specific and time

    bound jobs to be allotted by his/her controlling officer from time to

    time on behalf of the Office, relating to exercise of base year updation

    of Consumer Price Index Numbers.

    Cat. 2 Junior Consultant

    Professionals having Masters degree in Economics, Statistics,Mathematics, Computer Science or Information Technology orCommerce or equivalent in relevant field/subject. Persons with M.Philor additional qualifications with 5 years research experience, publishedpapers and post qualification experience in the relevant field would bepreferred.

    Qualification and Number of Junior Consultants

    Retired Government employees from posts in Grade pay of Rs.6600/5400 or equivalent and above & having at least 5/8 years

    experience respectively in the relevant field would also be eligible forthis position.

    Fee:The monthly consolidated fee payable to Junior Consultant shall be Rs.

    30000.00 per month. TA/DA shall be paid in addition when deputed for

    field duties.

    Duties A Junior Consultant will provide high quality consultancy services

    to the Labour Bureau, for attending to specific and time bound jobs

    to be allotted by his/her controlling officer from time to time on behalf

    of the Office, relating to exercise of base year updation of Consumer

    Price Index Numbers.

    Cat 3 Investigator Grade-I

    Persons having a Masters degree in Economics, Mathematics,Statistics, Finance or Commerce or equivalent of a recognized

    university.

    Qualification and Number of Investigators Grade-I

    Retired Government employees from similar posts in Grade pay of Rs.4600 and above having at least 5 years experience in the required

    position would also be eligible to be appointed as Investigator Grade-I.

    Salary:Consolidated amount to be paid to Investigator Grade-I shall be Rs.

    16000/- per month. TA/DA shall be paid in addition when deputed for

    field duties.

    Duties Investigator Grade-I will be put on the job of supervision of the

    field work to be conducted across various States/UTs. Besides, scrutiny

    of the filled in schedules will have to be undertaken by them at theheadquarter/regional offices of Labour Bureau. They may also be

    required to undertake data collection work in exigencies.

    Cat 4 Investigator Grade-II

    Persons having a Bachelors degree in Economics, Mathematics,Statistics or Commerce or equivalent of a recognized university.

    Retired Government employees from similar posts in Grade pay of Rs.4200 and above having at least 3 years experience in the requiredposition would also be eligible to be appointed as InvestigatorGrade-II.

    Salary:Consolidated amount to be paid to Investigator Grade-II shall be

    Rs. 15000/- per month. TA/DA shall be paid in addition when deputed

    for field duties.

    Duties Investigator Grade-II will be required to carry out field work/data

    collection and other related work in respect of exercise of base year

    updation of Consumer Price Index Numbers as assigned by the Office

    from time to time.
