Like it or not, winter and the holiday season is sneaking up on us all! With only a few short weeks remaining in the semester, it’s hard to believe that I’ll soon have half of my senior year behind me!

The saying that ‘time flies by when you are having fun’ has again definitely proven true. Although November brought a ton of tests, papers and presenta-tions deadlines (not to mention my giant senior seminar project looming over my shoulder), these last few weeks have been an absolute blast.

As fun as it has been, all good things must come to an end. As the end of the semester inches closer, things will start to wrap up in the class-rooms as we prepare for our final exam. While it has definitely been fun, I can hardly wait until our winter break rolls around to enjoy some quality time off! I hope that you’ve enjoyed the past month as much as I have!

Don’t rely solely on glossy magazines or flashy websites when selecting a college best fit for you– be sure to visit the campuses you are interested in. Meeting the professor, engaging with students and even trying the food are great way to familiarize yourself with a campus. Looking to schedule your Ri-pon College visit? Cabaret - Nov. 3-6Every four years, the Ripon College music and theatre departments come together in full-force to put on a musical performance for the Ripon community. Happening only once in a college-career, such an event is no easy feat. Requiring the planning of numerous faculty-members, students and staff, the amount of time spent in prepara-

tion and setup is enormous. Luckily, I was able to take part in this year’s per-formance – Cabaret (that picture is of me and my friend Jessie Lillis ‘13, the female lead.

Playing in the Jazz and Symphonic Wind Ensembles during my first, sophomore and junior years, this semester was a bit different – no Sousa marches or jazz charts, instead we rehearsed show tunes for a few hours each week. As the show started a few weeks earlier than when our concerts normally would have been, it seemed at time overwhelming that we would be putting on a full-length production with singing, dancing AND music.

In the SpotlightSandy Toshner - Housekeeping Staff

As a residential campus, Ripon College needs a place for all of its students to live, work and play while we’re not in class. Keeping all of these buildings clean, like my residence hall, Mapes, is no small chore – that’s why this month I’m featuring my housekeeper of 3-years, Sandy Toshner.

No run-of-the-mill housekeeper, Sandy goes above and beyond her job in keeping our residence spick and span. Without any exaggeration (ok, maybe a little), you could literally eat off of the floors after Sandy has gone through and cleaned each day – not that I would or would suggest it…

Not only does Sandy keep our carpet vacuumed and our showers sparkling, but she also finds time to bake treats for us quite regularly too! A fixture of the Mapes residence hall, Sandy definitely is a top-notch staff-member here at Ripon College.
