We had an enjoyable demonstration with watercolorist
Bill Lane on October 21.
A graphic designer by day, Bill’s hobby is painting. He
likes to paint by music and usually has the drawing
complete on the paper before he paints. He uses Arches
300 lb. cold press paper and a mix of natural and
synthetic brushes. Bill paints from the background to the
foreground and from lights to darks. Although he was
taught to never use white paint, Bill admits that white
gouache is his “magic tool” and he uses it sparingly at the
end of a painting.
Bill told us of an amazing opportunity he had to take
classes with Joseph Zbukvic, who is an outstanding
painter and has work in galleries around the world.
In Sympathy
TAA wishes to express its deepest sympathy to the
family of John Barradas who passed away on October 22
at age 99.
John was great man and artist who was a big part of
Taunton’s history and an integral part of TAA, who has
benefited from all the hard work he put into the
organization over the years.
All of us who knew John, whether for decades or for a
short time, knew what a special man he was. He has
been an inspiration to all of us with his kindness, good
nature and love of his craft.
Our world may seem a little dimmer without him in it
but Heaven just got a lot brighter and more colorful.

Michele Poirier- Mozzone
On Wednesday, November 18, at 7:00 pm,
TAA will welcome guest pastel demonstrator
Michele Poirier-Mozzone.
Michele has a BFA from Emmanuel College, where
she fell in love with watercolor. As the years went
by she found a new love ~ pastels, which she
incorporated into her watercolors. Back in 2011
she demonstrated the 2 mediums for us. Her new
work for 2015 is pastel and features an aquatic
series including the picture above, entitled Release
II, which has been awarded Honorable Mention in
the Portrait/Figurative Category of Pastel Journal's
17th Annual Pastel 100 Competition. It will appear
in the April 2016 edition of Pastel Journal.
You can view her work at her website,
www.poirier-mozzone.com.
