Did you know?
Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919,
the first anniversary of the end of World War I. In 1954, Presi-
dent Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the
holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. This day is a way
to honor our soldiers, who gave their lives for this nation. There are 21.8 million
veterans of the U.S. armed forces as of 2014. For more than 60 years, Albany
has been honoring veterans with a parade on Veterans Day. Every year, floats,
military color guards, distinguished veterans, classic cars, scout troops and
school bands join the parade. The NAMS band will be marching in the parade to
honor our veterans.

UU. A partir de 2014.
