Taxpay- ers who reported additional personal property or made corrections on their assess- ment form this year will re- ceive the notice. County As- sessor Scott Shipman said the goals of this mailing are to involve taxpayers in the assessment process and to make it less burdensome to the taxpayer. “This notice alerts tax- payers of the change in their personal property as- sessment and allows time to appeal the value within the statutory appeal timeframe,” said Shipman. “Our inten- tion is to help citizens avoid issues at the end of the year when they receive their tax bills. At that point, it is too late to appeal the assessed value.” Visit the St. Charles County Assessor’s Office online at http://www.sccmo. org/Assessor for more in- formation, frequently asked questions regarding prop- erty taxes and appeal pro- cedures, and to access the Assessor’s database. This development was approved by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen in 2015. The tract is located east of Highway 61 and south of Highway A. The property was annexed into the city of Wentzville in 2015. North Point Develop- ment, a Kansas City-based logistics park developer, re- cently purchased the proper- ty. The developer intends to lease space that could pro- vide logistical support to the General Motors Wentzville Assembly Center as well as possibly serving other uses. The first phase of develop- ment calls for a 1.1-million- square-foot building. This is one of the largest buildings in Wentzville, second only to the General Motors facility. This project was ini- tially approved in 2015, but was on hold due to various factors. The city of Wentz- ville worked closely with St. Charles County and the St. Charles County Road Board to support more than $5.8 million in roadway improve- ments associated with the project. To further facilitate development, the city of Wentzville worked with the developer and other taxing jurisdictions on the issu- ance of Chapter 100 bonds. Wentzville remains strongly committed to job growth and economic development. Over the last year, approxi- mately 2,000 jobs have been added to the local economy. It is anticipated that this new development will bring an additional 400-plus jobs to Wentzville. Wentzville’s Mayor and members of its Board of Al-dermen have been directly affected by the impacts of heroin overdoses. In an effort to increase awareness about the dangers of heroin use in our community, Wentzville’s Police Department will host a Walk to Stop Heroin this May. The walk will be held

May 14 at 9 a.m., beginning at Heartland Park, 100 Wil-liam Dierberg Dr., and end-ing at the Wentzville Police Department’s Law Enforce-ment Center at 1019 Schro-eder Creek Blvd. City offi-cials will welcome attendees and lead the walk. Following, participants will hear from individuals who have been

affected by heroin’s impact on their lives and the lives of those they love. The goal of this walk is to connect our community with the available resources in hopes people will not try heroin, not even once. To learn more, contact Sgt. Jennifer Bell at (636) 639-2143.

The St. Patrick Knights of Columbus Council #10154 will sponsor a community service FREE Shred-ding Day. This is an opportunity for you to clean out files, and at the same time, prevent identity theft of your se-cure documents. Bring them to the St. Patrick Parish parking lot on Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to noon (rain or shine) or until the truck is full. Watch your docu-ments disappear from the trunk of your vehicle to the truck shredder without anyone seeing your document contents, including the employees of SHRED-IT who are being contracted by the Knights of Columbus to shred the documents. There will be a limit imposed to allow more people to participate. Please limit documents cleanout to eight paper boxes or approximately 150 pounds. There will be Knights of Columbus members available to assist when you arrive at the church parking lot of St. Patrick Catholic Church, located at 405 S. Church Street in Wen-tzville. For more informa-tion, contact Regis Boyle at 636-327-7591.

April 14-16 in Dayton, OH. After overcoming the ad-versity of electronics failure in the preliminary competi-tion, the ensemble went on to perform in the semi-final competition and finally the World Championship finals

in the Percussion Indepen-dent Open class for the first time in the seven-year his-tory of the group. Freedom Indoor Per-cussion also performed at the WGI Mid-South re-gional competition in Bowl-

ing Green, KY, where they placed second in the Per-cussion Independent Open class, and in two local MCC-GA competitions. Seven of the thirty-two members of Freedom Percussion are from the Wentzville School District including Holt students Dan White (tenor drums), Walter Lemmon (bass drum), Matt Brawner (marimba), Car-son Kersting (snare drum), Dominic Stringer (cymbals) and Timberland students Heather Hill (vibraphone), and Dontreal Smith (snare drum). Freedom Indoor Per-cussion is a St. Louis-based Independent Open Class

percussion group in the Win-ter Guard International orga-nization (WGI). Freedom Percussion is led by director Michael Davis, who also serves as Percussion Director for the Wentzville Holt Marching Band. Band members in the ensemble range in age from 15-22. These select musi-cians travel from all over Missouri and Illinois every weekend, from November to April, to practice and com-pete in area and regional events. The Wentzville School District and the Wentzville Fire Protection District (WFPD) teamed up again this year to reward elementary students who have excellent atten-dance and have laid the groundwork for future success. During the last full week of school, one lucky fifth grader from each elementary school in the WSD got a ride to school on a WFPD fire truck as a reward for their K-5 attendance and achievement. As an annual event, this celebration is intended to inspire all elementary students to achieve perfect attendance if possible. Here is the list of District students who were selected for the distinction this year:

• Boone Trail – Isabella Waggoner • Crossroads – Brett Mason • Discovery Ridge – Shane Wolz • Duello – Luke Wortmann • Green Tree – Tabitha Schacht • Heritage – Nicholas Dawson • Lakeview – Jonathan Oliver • Peine Ridge – Caleb Bryan • Prairie View – Natalie Hoffman

In order to have comprehensive public safety, our community’s first responders have to be present, day in and day out. In order to have a comprehensive public education, students need to be present, day in and day out. “Multiple studies have indicated that there is a direct correlation between good student attendance and good student achievement,” said Mary LaPak, WSD Director of Community Relations. “We are grateful to our friends and community partners in the WFPD for assisting us in rewarding our exceptional students in a very special way.”

WATERFRONT!

There are only four weeks until the 4th of July and the Ambassadors have less than 15 percent of their needed goal of $30,000 for this year’s fireworks. By now most members of the Lake Saint Louis Communi-ty Association should have received a letter from the Lake Saint Louis Ambassa-dors asking for your dona-tion. A return envelope with a donor’s card was enclosed to make donating easier. Every year the Ambas-sadors have met or slightly surpassed making their goal and they fully expect (hope) this will be the case again. Those individuals, families, businesses and clubs that have already donated, the Ambassadors thank you very much. For those who have been put-ting off or still thinking about donating, please don’t hesi-tate any longer. Do it NOW! Again this year there are several options for you to make your dona-tion. Make your donation via check to “Ambassadors of Lake Saint Louis - Fire-works Fund” - 100 Cognac Court, Lake St. Louis, MO 63367, use the form and en-velope in the mailing you re-ceived this week, or by go-ing to the website at www.LSLambassadors.com and using the “DONATE” button on the website to make a donation through a PayPal

Officer Och with her family, Police Chief Force (behind Och) and Karen Wisner, outgoing Regent of the Chapter.

The Caroline Close Stu-art Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently awarded Police Officer Susan Ochs of the Lake St. Louis Police Department the DAR Distin-guished Citizen Medal. Po-lice Chief Michael T. Force of the Lake St. Louis Police Department was on hand to see the presentation as well as Officer Ochs’ family. Officer Ochs has served the Lake Saint Louis Police Department as the Com-munity Resources Officer for over eight years. In her role she is responsible for the National Night Out, the Prescription Drug Take Back program, Parent Teachers Organizations events and

the Child Identification pro-gram. On her own she is ad-ditionally involved in the Mis-souri Special Olympics, the Red Cross Blood Drives and the Warner’s Winter Warm Up Coat Drive. The mother of sons, she is a Cub Scout Master and Den Leader. “We are proud to have an opportunity to recognize such a deserving woman and member of our com-munity,” said newly installed Chapter Regent, Helene Reece. “She epitomizes the DAR spirit of service in our community.” As Police Chief Force says, “The men and women of our Department believe the citizens of Lake Saint Louis deserve the best. To that end, we hold our-

selves to the highest ethical and professional standards in law enforcement.” This award was estab-lished by the NSDAR as an opportunity for chapters and states to recognize worthy individuals in their communi-ties for outstanding unpaid voluntary achievements in cultural, educational, hu-manitarian, patriotic, his-torical, citizenship, or en-vironmental conservation endeavors. For more information about the DAR contact Re-gent, Helene Reece at 636-284-7535. You may also find information about the Caroline Close Stuart Chap-ter on the web at http://www.mssdar.org/ccstuart.

Property Maintenance Reminders

As warm weather ap-proaches, I want to remind residents about property maintenance standards in our community. Please re-member to cut your lawn, maintain attractive curb ap-peal, clean out your gutters, and generally help maintain the healthy, safe and stable community we all desire. Few things have more potential to enhance the quality of life for everyone in our community than neigh-borhood pride. The city works with property owners and neighborhoods to ad-dress nuisance properties and housing violations, pro-tecting property values and making your neighborhood more pleasant and welcom-ing for residents and visitors alike. Keeping your property in good condition helps to insure your family lives in a clean, safe and pleasant en-vironment, enhances prop-erty values, and contributes to neighborhood revitaliza-tion. The city’s property maintenance program is in place to help meet this need. Each year, between April and September, half of the city is inspected. In even numbered years, the west side of the city is inspected and in odd numbered years

the east side of the city is in-spected (Wilmer Road is the dividing point between east and west). Residents found to be in noncompliance will be left with a notice of the violation and a timeline to make repairs. If you have a specific concern regarding a prop-erty maintenance issue, please call (636) 639-2121 or enter a concern at http://bit.ly/reportaconcern. In-spectors will verify the con-cern within 72 hours and respond back upon your request. Concerns may be filed anonymously as well.In addition to the annual Property Maintenance Pro-gram, code enforcement inspectors respond to resi-dent concerns throughout the year such as: • Tall grass and weeds in excess of eight inches • Trash and debris on premises • Peeling paint • Gutters in need of re-pair • Broken windows and doors • Sidewalk or driveway deterioration • Standing water at-tracting mosquitoes • Abandoned vehicles • Damaged/deteriorat-ed fences

Fight the Bite! Summer can also mean mosquitoes! In the last few

years, and especially dur-ing the past several months, awareness about the poten-tially dangerous conditions associated with mosquito-related illnesses has been heightened. Although most of these diseases are focused in more tropical destinations, mosquitoes can be a prob-lem for Wentzville area resi-dents as well, especially as warmer temperatures return. You can help protect your-self and your family by elimi-nating mosquito breeding grounds. Mosquitoes can be discouraged from biting with the use of insect re-pellent that contains DEET, picaridin, IR 3535 or oil of lemon eucalyptus when out-doors. In addition, wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants and staying indoors at dawn and dusk can mini-mize opportunities for mos-quito bites. Mosquito larvae re-quires seven to 14 days of still water for development, so it’s best to take steps to drain areas where water settles, cleaning clogged gutters and fountains, ponds or bird baths to help elimi-nate household breeding grounds. To learn more, I encourage you to visit the St. Charles County Health Department’s website at bit.ly/StCharlesMosquito.

The following is Dr. Cain’s graduation speech delivered at ceremonies on May 21st. Over 1,000 students graduated in the Class of 2016, which in-cluded Timberland High School’s largest graduating class ever at 580 students. We are here to honor and recognize a group of young people who repre-sent the best our District, our County, our State, and indeed our Nation have to offer. I would like to wel-come our graduating se-niors, their parents, rela-tives and friends, our staff and faculty members, my fellow administrators, and members of the Board of Education. I am always struck by the individual stories that are weaved together and make up the fabric of a graduating class. Each of you has taken a different path that led you to this mo-ment in time, and therefore it means something very different to each and every one of you. For some, this is the culmination of years of success conquering chal-

lenges, while for others, it’s the culmination of years of personal struggle to man-age and overcome daily challenges and adversity that led you to this time and place. So although this di-ploma means something completely different to each and every one of you and your families, it is also a shared accomplishment you can all be very proud of. Although you may be tired of hearing it for the last twelve years, the Wentzville School District is still the fastest growing district in the state and is now the 11th largest district in Missouri. Despite that rapid growth, the WSD is still a sought-after, first class place to educate children. Why? Because while success-fully managing the growth thanks to our supportive community, we have also successfully managed to push the envelope and lead the way in terms of a world-class curriculum for our stu-dents. For six consecutive years, our test scores place us in the top 10 percent in the state; we’ve been recog-nized as a leader in STEM education, and our Project Lead the Way courses have afforded students the oppor-tunity to engage in hands on learning with the latest tech-nology to prepare them for rigorous coursework at the next level. The Class of 2016 consists of young men and women who are headed to Purdue University, North-eastern University, Univer-sity of Dallas, University of Florida, Ohio State Univer-sity, University of Arkansas,

Rice University, Howard Uni-versity in Washington, D.C., Loyola University, Brigham Young University, Berklee College of Music in Massa-chusetts, University of Cin-cinnati, University of South Carolina, University of Ten-nessee and of course, some of our finest universities right here at home: Missouri S&T, Missouri State, University of Central Missouri, SLU, Tru-man, Maryville, UMSL, Lin-denwood and MIZZOU. We have many students taking advantage of the Missouri A+ program that provides for tuition at places like St. Charles Community College while benefitting many of our younger students thanks to those valuable tutoring hours. Some of you will go on to outstanding techni-cal programs - like Ranken Technical Institute right here in our own backyard. Oth-ers will proudly serve our country in the military and others will enter the work-force. Regardless of what path brought you here today, and what journey lies ahead for you tomorrow, you can be confident in the excellent educational foundation built here in the WSD. I would encourage you to reach out to thank your parents, your friends, your teachers, and your mentors for all they have done to support you on the path that led you here to-day. Go forward with confi-dence as you reach for the stars and know we are con-fident you will continue to make the Wentzville School District proud. Congratula-tions!

Wentzville United Methodist Church would like to invite the community, along with past and present mem-bers, to celebrate their 150 anniversary. On June 12, they will begin with worship at 10 a.m. followed by a potluck luncheon. The Anniversary Program will begin at noon. In February 1866, the first church in Wentzville was founded as the Methodist Episcopal Church South, on what is today, East Pitman between Elm and White-head Streets. The church building was destroyed by fire in November, 1882. With a generous land donation from Mary D. Linn a new building was built on Linn Ave. between 5th and 6th Streets and ready for worship in 1885. By the 1950’s the church membership had grown significantly and for the first time had a dedicated pas-tor rather than a circuit relationship with other Methodist churches. It was determined the 1883 building was in need of extensive repairs. A new building was erected on the same location and opened on July 15, 1951 with Robert Mann as pastor. By 1957, membership grew to 335 under the lead-ership of Rev. Robert Mordt. It was obvious the one-acre campus would not be adequate for growth. Rev. Robert Hemmerla became pastor in 1964 and 5.6 acres of land was purchased in 1967 at 725 Wall Street. The first worship service was held in the new building in February, 1969. This was the second new, and current building, for Wentzville United Methodist Church. There have been a number of pastors over the years including Rev. Hemmerla, Rev. Bill Richardson, Rev. Max Marble, Rev. Paul Garven, Rev. Diana Loo-mis, Revs. Scott and Melissa Bailey-Kirk, Rev. David Conley and our current pastor, Rev. Mark Dumas. The church’s mission and outreach has grown through the years to encompass a number of groups including Adopt-A-Family, Caring & Sharing Food Or-ganization, Disaster Response, Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles County, Mary Martha Thrift Shop, Operation Backpack, and St. Louis Crisis Nursery at Wentzville. For the past 150 years, Wentzville United Method-ist Church has served the spiritual needs of over six generations. During this time, it has dealt with four major wars and seen the collapse and recovery of the economy many times. The church looks forward to serving the community for the next 150 years.

There will be a Lake Saint Louis Music Jam Session on Saturday, June 11 at the Lake Saint Louis Community Asso-ciation from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Join the session and play con-temporary/rock Christian, and classic blues and rock music. Call Bill for more information at 314-609-2026. The Community Association is located at 100 Cognac Ct. in lake Saint Louis.

Chris Robinson is glad that his family and profes-sional life can be spent at home. He can be with his growing family, while also running his own company, R3 Coaching. For the Wentzville resi-dent, it’s the best of both worlds. “It provides flexibility,” said Robinson, who is mar-ried with 7-year-old triplets, a 3-year-old and twins on the way. Last month, Robinson was recognized for his busi-ness exploits. The Home-Based Small Business of the Year award was presented to Robinson by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s St. Louis of-fice. Small Business Week of Eastern Missouri was cele-brated May 2-7, with Robin-son receiving his award dur-ing a luncheon May 5 at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac. “I was excited to be rec-ognized,” Robinson said. “It’s great to travel around the U.S., but to be recog-nized by a government agency and to work from home, it’s great.” Robinson, who founded R3 Coaching six years ago, works on the development of individuals and business-es. He works with a number of companies to sharpen team leadership skills and develop emerging leaders through group and one-on-one sessions. He used to work in the corporate world, eventually climbing to a senior sales manager for one of the larg-est vehicle services contract service providers in the Unit-ed States. During his time

Wentzville business owner wins home-based award

there, the company grew from a staff of 18 employees to over 700. He finally decided his passion and energy could be used elsewhere. “My ultimate goal when I get to a company or orga-nization, No. 1, is let them know leadership is a learn-able skill,” Robinson said. “No. 2, give them tools they can utilize and apply imme-diately. No. 3, really motivate them to do something differ-ent. I want to clear up what leadership is and give them a good model.”

In the past year, he has spoken to groups in Florida, California and Barbados. He also traveled to Paraguay where he was one of 250 coaches to train over 16,000 residents there. “That was an incredible experience,” Robinson said. But it still doesn’t beat be-ing able to enjoy his busi-ness success with his family close by. “I want to impact lives,” Robinson said. For more information about Robinson’s company, visit R3-coaching.com.

The Missouri Department of Insurance has announced that the proposed merger of Humana and Aetna health in-surance companies – as cur-rently structured – is “anticom-petitive.” The finding states that the merger would create an anticompetitive market in Mis-souri for three lines of health insurance: Comprehensive In-dividual, Comprehensive Small Group and Group Medicare Advantage. The Department has given the health insurance giants thirty days to come up with a remedy or the Depart-ment will affectively block the merger from going forward. “We applaud Director Huff for looking out for con-sumers today,” said Lhakpa Tsering, Executive Director of the Missouri Health Advocacy Alliance. “With this ruling, the Department took a brave stand to make sure the Missouri in-surance market remains com-petitive.” The department held a 13-hour administrative hear-ing examining the impact of the merger and received oral and written testimony from the department, the companies in-volved, economists and other stakeholders including the Missouri Health Advocacy Alli-ance.

March Cookout Group Committee: Back Row L to R: Jean Conger, Mary Barron, Jim Lafata and Ralph Goltz. Front Row L to R: Ginger Buckley and Judy Ricks.

Another month of the Lake Saint Louis Cookout group is over and they are one-fourth the way through the year. The themes for the month were Mardi Gras, Sports Night, St. Patrick’s Day, and March Birthdays. Mardi Gras was great as usual. This is the third year for this theme and it is always well received. For “Sports Night” Jim

Lafata cooked brats and sauerkraut to compliment the theme. Other members brought dishes to comple-ment the brats. Tables were decorated with baseball, football, tennis, soccer and golf equipment and memo-rabilia. For the third week the cookout group celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. Just like Mardi Gras, they wore

strings of beads and flashy rings and masks, people could join in by the “wear’n of the green.” Green ties, tee shirts, scarves and hats were everywhere. Only one thing was missing and that was green beer. There were multiple members’ birthdays to cele-brate in March so there were plenty of birthday cupcakes and good food to go around.

LAKE FORESTCOUNTRY CLUB

Lake Forest Country Club Chosen to Host Local Qualifier for the 2017 Drive, Chip and Putt Championship for Children Ages 7-15 Do you know a child who loves to play golf? If so, then you will want to register this junior golfer for the free upcoming event at Lake Forest Country Club on Monday, June 20th. All junior golfers are welcome! The Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship is an initiative that was founded in 2013 by the collab-orative efforts of the PGA of America, the United States Golf Association (USGA) and The Masters Tournament (Augusta National Golf Club). It is a free nationwide junior golf development competi-tion aimed at growing the game of golf by focusing on the three fundamental skills of driving, chipping, and putting. By tapping the creative and competi-tive spirit of girls and boys ages 7-15, the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship provides aspiring ju-nior golfers an opportunity to play with their peers in qualifiers around the country. Participants who advance through local, sub-regional and regional qualifying in each age/gender category earn a place in the 2017 National Finals, which is conducted at Augusta National Golf Club the Sunday before the Masters Tournament and is broadcast live by Golf Channel. Lake Forest Country Club is proud to have our course chosen as one of only a few mid-west local qualifying locations for this year’s Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship. This fun competition is open to all girls and boys ages 7-15. The girls and boys will com-pete in separate divisions in four age categories: 7-9 years old; 10-11 years old; 12-13

years old; and 14-15 years old. Registration for the Monday, June 20 event at Lake For-est Country Club is open now through Wednesday, June 15 at DriveChipAndPutt.com. The enjoyable competition is a great way for children who are just beginning to golf or who have played golf for some time to come out, have fun with their peers, and be inspired to golf more! If you have any additional questions about the Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship local qualifier, please contact Craig Wise, Head Golf Professional at Lake Forest Country Club 636-561-2221 or [email protected] The members and staff of Lake Forest Country Club are excited to have the opportunity to welcome junior golfers and their families from our community as well as surrounding communities to this event!

Over 3,700 elementary students in the Wentzville School District received a free book this month thanks to the efforts and vision of a grandmother and educator. Faith Gardner, who works as a diagnostician for the District, is the founder of Camie’s Literacy Group (CLG). She established the group almost seven years ago after being inspired by her granddaughter Camie’s love of reading. Gardner says the idea that all chil-dren don’t have access to age-appropriate books at home was unacceptable to her, so she enlisted the help of her family, friends and

coworkers in order to get CLG off the ground in 2009. That year, CLG provided a free book for every kin-dergarten, first and second grader enrolled at Heritage Primary. Since that time, the non-profit has donated over 23,000 books for WSD students to take home and keep as their own. CLG’s mission, accord-ing to Gardner, is to “en-courage the love of reading books in young children. To this aim, we dedicate our-selves to the goal of obtain-ing and distributing an ap-propriate new book to those most in need. Our greatest hope is that every child will

have a new book to call their own.” CLG holds a trivia night annually to raise money to purchase the books that are given away. They’ve also started an Earn to Learn pro-gram at Duello Elementary where kids get pledges from family and friends based on how many books or how many minutes they read. Be-tween the two fundraisers, CLG brought in over $7,000 to purchase this year’s book donation. For more information about CLG visit their Face-book page at http://www.facebook.com/camieslitera-cygroup.

Living with the pressure Scriptures: John 8:14

How do you handle pressure? Pressure can be a life and death issue, per-colating from family issues, scheduling demands, work, and guilt. One way to deal with these issues is by turn-ing to God’s instruction man-ual, the Bible - His guideline for living. When pressure grows too great, we cry out - “Help!” Graciously, God is there to show us how Jesus managed pressure and how He can help us today. Jesus was painfully aware of pressure...His family misunderstood Him, crowds almost crushed Him with their constant demands for signs and miracles, His disciples questioned His role. He could take the pressure because He knew where He had come from and His destiny. Intimate union with God was the key to Jesus’ inner peace and outer calm. It is also the an-swer for how you and I can live with pressure. Union with Jesus con-firms who we are. As long as we continually search for ourselves and our identity, we will be under pressure. The whims and wishes of

other people will control us. Self-identification must be more than our sex, career status, family role, or size of our bank account. We must know who we are by know-ing whose we are! Allow your mind to un-derstand who you are be-cause of Jesus. Beneath all the layers of your personal-ity and life experiences, you are fundamentally a child of God. You are a new cre-ation and have been cho-sen, loved, and forgiven. That should be enough – but there’s more! You can say, “I am God’s.” That is your con-fidence in times of pressure. Determine whom you are trying to please. Are you most concerned about pleasing yourself, others, or God? Jesus lived in total dependence on God’s direc-tion for his life. Until Jesus is in charge of your life, your need to be loved, accepted, and approved will drive you to comply with what other people want you to be and do. Jesus enables you to have a healthy self-love. So let Jesus take you out of the pressure cooker and show you that you are a precious child of God.

Monday Night Bridge Bob Jacobs & Craig Lowder were winners on May 23. George & Bev Montigne were second followed by Dave & Jane White. Bev Nibberich & Pat Rudloff filled out the slate of winners. Bob Jacobs & Johon Pridgeon were winners on May 18. Paula Mosher & Norma Coper were second followed by Pat Rudloff & Bev Nibberich. Eva Sketoe & Dena Hamilton were fourth. Bridge players are invited to play party bridge ev-ery Monday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Saint Louis Community Association Clubhouse. Bring your favorite partner and join the fun.

Wednesday Night Bridge Here is a bridge tip: When partner opens one No Trump and you have less than seven high card points and a five card major, make a shut off bid in the ma-jor suit. If you use transfers, implement the sequence, passing after partner bids your major. If you do not use transfers, bid two of the major. Partner should pass this shut off bid. Your hand may take no tricks in No Trump; it probably will take one or two tricks in a suit contract. Recent winners at Bit O Bridge are Mike Schneider & Ralph Britton, George & Marilyn Bogacki, Del Syl-vester & Karen Engle, Jim McClure & RuthAnn Bosse, Sandy & Marshall Hankins, Al Delio & Estella Lau. Bridge players of all skill levels are welcome to play duplicate bridge any or every Wednesday evening at 6:30 at the Community Association Clubhouse. Call Ja-net Vontz at 561-8808 for info.

Friday Morning Bridge The new Gentlemen’s Bridge Club is the place to be every Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the lower level Yacht room in the Community Association Clubhouse. Call Dave White at 314 477-1109 for more information. Recent winners are Craig Lowden, Dave White, John Pridgeon and Bob Jacobs.

St. Charles County Government has announced the launch of a design-build process for its new emer-gency operations and com-munications facility to be located on TR Hughes Bou-levard behind the existing Police Department building in O’Fallon. It is anticipated the facility will be operational in 2019. The St. Charles County Council passed an ordi-nance in 2015, establishing the design-build procedure and, in March of this year, authorized utilization of the design-build process for the facility. This is the first time the County has engaged in the design-build process. All other County buildings have been constructed with the design-bid-build process. “Benefits of a design-build delivery method include time and cost savings, as well as improved risk man-agement,” said St. Charles County Construction Man-ager Cory Bextermueller. “Additionally, this process is known to increase creativity and innovation by maximiz-ing the strengths of the con-tractor. We feel confident this is the best process for the County given the highly spe-cialized nature of this type of

facility.” The new facility will house the day-to-day op-erations of the Department of Emergency Communica-tions, St. Charles County Police Department’s Division of Emergency Management, and a data center for County information technology oper-ations and the county-wide emergency radio communi-cations system. Currently, the County’s data center and some offices of the Depart-ment of Emergency Com-munications are located in the County Administration Building in the City of St. Charles. The Department of Emergency Communi-cations also operates dis-patching services and 911 operations from an office building in Wentzville. The Police Department Division of Emergency Management is located in the basement of the County’s jail in St. Charles. As St. Charles County’s population continues to grow and demand for these ser-vices rises, now is the time to consolidate these opera-tions into one, mission-crit-ical facility that will sustain 365/24/7 operations during in any type of emergency event or extreme condition.
