Good morning! What a wonderful day to come together and worship our Lord! May we focus on His goodness and love, and give Him the honor He deserves. As the United States celebrates Labor Day this weekend, let's look at what we can learn about work from the Scriptures. Actually much is said starting early within the book of Genesis on through the New Testament. Solomon thought much about work as he explored all aspects of life. He said, "I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and to do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil - this is a gift of God." Let's think about this gift this morning. SUNDAY 9:00 A.M. It is with a humble heart that I must tender my resignation from the office of an Elder, effective immediately. Circumstances in my life has been changing for several months, and I am not able to fulfill the qualifications of an elder any longer. This office is much too important for me not to do what is best for South Gate and the eldership as a whole by steeping down. Eastside / South Gate congregation has been very special to me and my family since 1953. I have always been proud of being a part of the beginning of this congregation, and I will cherish South Gate always. I look forward to many years of continued service to God and to this congregation. I will always have South Gate in my heart as we continue this journey together. I am grateful for the outpouring of love and friendship for me and my family over all the many years at Eastside / South Gate. There are an abundance of “precious memories” that truly flood my soul at this moment. Please pray for your elders as they continue to lead and guide this congregation each day. I leave the eldership knowing that this congregation is in good hands! May God richly bless each one of you as life unfolds for us all. With Love and Gratitude, Jerry Wilson
