    Before you try to record important subjects, we highly recommend that you make several testrecording and playback sessions to ensure that the Digital Video Recorder is operating andbeing operated correctly. Please note that the manufacturer, its subsidiaries and affiliates,and its distributors are not liable for any consequential damages arising from any malfunctionof a Digital Video Recorder or its accessory, including the hard disk drive, which results inthe failure of an image to be recorded or to be recorded in a format that is machine sensible.

    TEST SESSIONS

    Please note that Digital Video Recorders are intended for recording of surveillance use andshould never be used in a manner that invades other peoples privacy or contravenesinternational or domestic privacy act and its regulations. Please be advised that in certaincases the recording of individuals, private properties, or commercial properties by means ofcamera or other devices may contravene legal rights of such individuals even if the imageswere recorded for personal use.

    THE PRIVACY ACT OF 1974(5 U.S.C. 552a)

    This Digital Video Recorders warranty is only effective in the country of sale. If a problemarises while the DVR is in use abroad, please convey it back to the country of sale beforeproceeding with a warranty claim.

    WARRANTY LIMITATIONS

  • 1. Before using the Digital Video Recorder, please ensure that you read and understand thesafety precautions described below. Always ensure that the Digital Video Recorder isoperated correctly.

    2. The safety precautions noted on the following pages are intended to instruct you in the safeand correct operation of the DVR and its accessories to prevent injuries or damage to theself, other persons and equipment.

    3. In this Instruction Manual, the term DVR, equipmentand devicerefers primarily tothe Digital Video Recorder and its accessories such as power supply and its remotecontroller.

    SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

    1. Do not cover the ventilation opening or slots on the outer casing. To prevent the DVR fromoverheating, provide at least two inches of air space around the vent and the slots.

    2. Do not drop metallic parts through slots. This could permanently damage the Digital VideoRecorder. Immediately turn the DVRs power off or unplug the power cord from thepower outlet. Contact a qualified service personnel authorized by the equipmentdistributor.

    3. Do not attempt to disassemble or alter any part of the equipment that is not expresslydescribed in this guide. Disassembly or alteration may result in high voltage electricalshock. Internal inspections, alterations and repairs should be conducted by qualifiedservice personnel authorized by the equipment distributor.

    4. Stop operating the equipment immediately if it emits smoke or noxious fumes. Failure todo so may result in fire or electrical shock. Immediately turn the DVRs power off,remove the power cable from the power outlet. Confirm that smoke and fume emissionshave ceased. Please consult the DVR distributor.

    5. Stop operating the equipment if a heavy object is dropped or the casing is damaged. Do notstrike or shake. Failure to do so may result in fire or electrical shock. Immediately turn theDVRs power off or unplug the power cord from the power outlet. Please consult the DVRdistributor.

    6. Do not allow the equipment come into contact with, or become immersed in, water or otherliquids. Do not allow liquids to enter the interior. The DVR has not been waterproofed. Ifthe exterior comes into contact with liquids or salt air, wipe it dry with a soft, absorbentcloth. In the event that the water or other foreign substances enter the interior, immediatelyturn the DVRs Power off or unplug the power cord from the power outlet. Continued useof the equipment may result in fire or electrical shock. Please consult the DVR distributor.which may lead to fire or electrical shock.

    7. Do not use substances containing alcohol, benzene, thinners or other flammable substancesto clean or maintain the equipment. The use of these substances may lead to fire. Use a drycloth on a regular periodic basis and wipe away the dust and dirt that collects on thedevice. In dusty, humid or greasy environments, the dust that collects around theventilation or the slots on the outer casing over long periods of time may become saturatedwith humidity and short-circuit, leading to fire.

    8. Do not cut, damage, alter or place heavy items on the power cord. Any of these actionsmay cause an electrical short circuit, which may lead to fire or electrical shock.

    9. Do not handle the device or power cord if the hands are wet. Handling it with wet handsmay lead to electrical shock. When unplugging the cord, ensure that you hold the solidportion of the plug. Pulling on the flexible portion of the cord may damage or expo

  • 810. Use only the recommended power accessories. Use of power sources not expresslyrecommended for this equipment may lead to overheating, distortion of the equipment,fire, electrical shock or other hazards.

    11. Do not place the battery near a heat source or expose it to direct flame or heat. Neithershould you immerse them in water. Such exposure may damage the battery and lead tothe leakage of corrosive liquids, fire, electrical shock, explosion or serious injury.

    12. Do not attempt to disassemble, alter or apply heat to the battery. There is serious risk ofinjury due to an explosion. Immediately flush with water any area of the body, or clothingthat comes into contact with the inner contents of the battery. If the eyes or mouth contactthese substances, immediately flush with water and seek medical assistance from amedical professional.

    13. Avoid dropping or subjecting the battery to severe impacts that could damage the casings.It could lead to leakage and injury.

    14. Do not short-circuit the battery terminals with metallic objects, such as key holders. Itcould lead to overheating, burns and other injuries.

    15. The supplied power supply and power cord are designed for exclusive use with theDigital Video Recorder. Do not use it with other products or battery. There is a risk of fireand other hazards.

    CAUTIONRisk of Explosion if Battery is replaced by an Incorrect Type. Dispose ofUsed Batteries According to the Instructions.

    Avoid using, placing or storing the equipment in places subject to strong sunlight or hightemperatures, such as the greenhouse or trunk of a car. Exposure to intense sunlight andheat may cause the battery to leak, overheat or explode, resulting in fire, burns or otherinjuries. High temperatures may also cause deformation of the casing. Ensure that there isgood ventilation when using the equipment.

    Do not store the equipment in humid or dusty areas. Storage in such areas could lead tofire, electrical shock or other damage.

    Do not operate the DVR beyond its specified temperature, humidity or power sourceratings. Do not use the DVR in an extreme environment such as in high temperature orhigh humidity. Use the device at temperatures within 41F - 104F and humidity below90 %. The normal operating power source for this device is 110V-220V AC 50/60Hz.

    Avoid Strong Magnetic Fields. Never place the DVR in close proximity to electric motorsor other equipment generating strong electromagnetic fields. Exposures to strong magneticfields may cause malfunctions or corrupt image data.

    Avoid Condensation Related Problems. Moving the equipment rapidly between hot andcold temperatures may cause condensation (water droplets) to form on its external andinternal surfaces. You can avoid this by placing the equipment in an airtight, resalableplastic bag and letting it adjust to temperature changes slowly before removing it from thebag.

    If Condensation forms inside the Digital Video Recorder. Stop using the equipmentimmediately if you detect condensation. Continued use may damage the equipment.Remove the power cord from the power outlet and wait until the moisture evaporatescompletely before resuming use.

    1. Channel / Numeric ButtonsThese buttons have a number of functions to enterdata and to make selections.They are used toenter numerical data when prompted for thepassword, to make channel/camera selection, tochoose the day in schedule option.[-] To decrease settings or Change channels[+] To increase settings or Change channels

    Clear : This button is used to hide the On-Screen-Display information such as time,date and channel icons.This button also removes any of the alert icons on the corner of the screen(AL, VL and PL).This button is also used to turn off the alarm buzzer.

    Still or Playback : This button is used to still or 1 x playback during playback mode. 3) [Schedule/F step or FF]

    Schedule : Press this button to make scheduled recording standby.You can toggle to start Schedule record or to stop.

    Forward step : This button is used to move forward field by field (picture by picture)during STILL mode.

    F.F. : This button is used to Fast Forwarding during PLAYBACK mode.4) [Time Search/ Playback Stop]

    Time Search : This button accesses the time search menu.Use the directional buttons to select the date and the time. Press [Enter] button to startthe playback of the selection.

    Stop: This button stops playback 5) [REC/ R step or FR]

    REC : Press this button to start recording. You can toggle to start record or stop. Reverse Step : This button is used to move reverse field by field during STILL mode. Fast Rewind : This button is used to fast rewind during PLAYBACK mode.

    6. POWER button and Indicator Press this button to turn the power on; press again to turn the power off.The POWER LED lights/goes off when the power is on/off.Power on (BLUE)

    7. USB connectionUSB compliant port allows use of flash drive to upgrade firmware and backup.

    8. Remote control signal receiverDo not block the receiver as the remote controller needs the line of sight to the receiver.

    II. INSTALLATION & CONNECTIONS

    1. HDD CONNECTION

    Please ensure that the HDD is firmly connected with the HDD Rack Bay.

    1. Set the HDD onto the Hard Rack Bay.2. Adjust the Screw Hole between HDD Rack Bay and HDD.3. Tighten the screws from the both side into the HDD.

    Make sure you use all four screws to mount the HDD.4. Insert the HDD into the HDD Hole at the rear of the set.5. After Insertion, make sure the HDD is fixed on the Hole.6. Tighten the screw.

    Caution : This product is available for SATA HDD Drive only. Do not replace the HDD while the unit is in Recording.

    1. TIME & DATE SETTING

    Before any other operation of the Digital Video Recorder, it is important to setup thetime and the date. Please refer to System Setup Menu for setting the time and the dateon the DVR.

    2.(1) Indicates that the CD-R/W(built-in) is connected. Icon turns blue while backing

    up data.(2) Indicates that a USB Device is connected to the LDR.(3) Indicates Schedule Recording mode is on. Icon turns blue indicating the start of

    Schedule Recording. (4) Indicates that the Audio Data is stored for the selected time during playback.

    3. : Displays the current Date & Time, or Month, Year,Day, and the current time.

    4. : Show you the remaining recording time of the DVR. And Ifits remaining HDD capacity is less than 4GB, this blueRecycling icon will be shown up.

    2. MULTI-SCREEN DISPLAY AND SEQUENCING

    2.1 Screen Display. Select any camera for Full screen display by pressing the Number button of thedesired camera.

    2.2 Multi-screen Display and Sequencing Display.

    Press [DISPLAY] buttons to activate the multi-screen display. It is changed the orderas shown below among your choice of SPLIT MODE. While in 16-way screendisplay, press [DISPLAY] buttons for 1second to begin full screen sequencing. Thesequence mode and dwell times are programmable. For detailed information aboutconfiguring those, see Sequence Setup. If the sequence mode is not activated, itmoves to Quad mode instead of Sequencing.

    During live view mode or playback, it is possible to zoom into a section of the screento get a close-up view of the screen.

    1. To activate the digital zoom, select the full screen display of the camerayou wish to zoom.

    2. Then press the [ZOOM] button on IR Remote controller. Zoom area boxpops up, as shown below.

    3. Move the box to the desired position using Direction [] buttons. 4. Press [+] button to enlarge the image. Press [ - ] button to zoom out the

    image.

    5. Press [CANCEL] button to return normal mode.

    If the Zoom button is pressed while in a multi-screen display, zoom operation isnot activated.

    In addition to the Main Monitor, attaching a Spot Monitor enables user to monitorspecific channels independently from the main monitor

    Press [Spot] button on the remote controller, then press number buttonyou wish to view in full screen.

    Press [Spot] button twice to auto switch cameras. Sequence interval can beset from the Sequential Setup.

    1. MAIN MENU OVERVIEW

    When the DVR is powered on, Live Viewing screen will appear afterinitialization about 30sec. Press [MENU] button to access the main menu. AnAdmin Password Box will appear. Enter the password using the numeric buttonson the IR remote controller. Default password is 000000. Main Menu appearsafter proper password entered, shown as below.

    1. Use Direction buttons [ ] to select the desired menu. Itemsselected in the menu will be highlighted with its own color.

    2. Press [ENTER] button to select the menu and display Sub-Menu.Use Left/ Right buttons [ ] to select on TAP menu. Selecteditems changed into [SKY BLUE] color.

    * Unit automatically saves changes while moving between TAP menus.

    3. Press [ENTER] button to exit a menu with saving changes. Press [CANCEL] to exit a menu without changes.

    Factory default Admin/user password is [000000]. It is recommended to changethe PASSWORDwhen you install the DVR. Refer to [System Setup].

    1. Use Direction buttons [] to select MOTION menu. Then, press[ENTER] button to display MOTION.

    4. Use [-, +] button to change the value.

    5. Save changes and exit the menu, press [ENTER] button. Then go RECORDMenu.

    6. Select ON or OFF to Enable or Disable motion detection on a percamera, as shown below.

    7. Press the REC button, then Motion recording starts according toconfigured Recording Quality, Frame Rate when Motion detected. Itwill be back to stand-by mode after motion recording time is end.Camera does not record under normal conditions.

    Motion Duration will be extended if there is another motion detection whilemotion recording.

    There may be cases when the recorders built-in motion detection function doesnot operate properly due to the condition of the input video signal or otherfactors.

    It is recommended selection of at least 3 motion blocks to get more accuratemotion recording.

    5. BASIC RECORDING(NORMAL RECORDING)

    The DVR comes with a certain preset settings from the factory. Therefore oncethe DVR is installed, immediate recording is possible after pressing the recordbuttons. By default, audio alarm, motion recording are off.

    1. Use Direction buttons [ ] to select RECORD menu. Then,press [ENTER] button to display RECORD.

    2. Use Direction buttons [ ] to select the Camera you wish toconfigure.

    3. Use [-, +] button to change the value.

    < note > : Press [MENU] button on each Item at first line to apply all settingfor the rest channel

    5. Save changes and exit the menu, press [ENTER] button. 6. Press [REC] button. Then, the red REC LED lights on the front panel

    and recording starts.7. To Record stop, press the STOP button on IR remote or [REC]

    button again on Front Panel.

    Please verify the alarm record settings prior to starting alarm recording. Pleasenote that alarm recording is independent of any recording modes. Alarm recordstarts after Alarm Record Enable.

    7. SCHEDULE RECORDING

    The schedule chart shows a graphical representation of the defined record mode:Mode1~4. However, the schedules are only displayed if a correspondingschedule has been configured in the schedule menu.

    1. Use Direction buttons [] to select SCHEDULE menu.Then, press [ENTER] button to display Schedule Chart.

    2. Use Left/Right buttons [] to select on TAP menu ( ).

    3. Use Down button [ ] to select any Day you wish to configure.

    It breaks down the days of the week in eight different categories: ALL,SUN, MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI and SAT. ALL is for everyday ofthe week. Daily schedule has priority to ALL.

    7. To activate the schedule recording after setting, press theSCHEDULE button. The SCHEDULE indicator illuminates. When aprogram covers the current time, the REC indicator illuminates andthe unit begins recording. Please note that if there are no schedulesconfigured, then the DVR will not record.

    8. When the scheduled recording time is over, the REC indicator goesoff and recording stops.

    9 If you wish to stop recording while scheduled recording, press theSCHDULE button, then the SCHEDULE indicator goes off and theSchedule Recording Mode is released.

    The static service consists of an IP address that remains constant for the durationof the contract of the internet service, whereas the dynamic service consists of anIP address that frequently changes every time a new connection is made throughthe provided modem, or recurrently in a given period of time. Though mostinternet service providers offer both solutions, this manual will distinguish thetwo solutions according to the commonly available service type to configure theDVR for the networking purposes.

    You can upgrade DVR with USB memory stick. Put latest firmwarein USB memory stick and plug it into front USB port. Press[Enter] to restart DVR. Please consult with your installer or sellerbefore upgrade DVR.

    The CMS Lite utilizes much resource from the computer as it draws videodata from the DVR. Therefore, the PC must be equipped with a higherminimum requirement for its components and operating system. The following chart displays the minimum and the recommended systemspecification to operate the CMS properly.

    The CMS Lite is a dedicated client program that connects and manages in real time.

    Insert the program CD into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive of thecomputer and locate the CMSLiteInstaller_X_X_X_XX.exe. The Xsrepresent the version number of the program. Double-click on the file,which opens the setup dialog.

    Web CMS is a CMS software that run over Internet Explorer. It isextremely convenient since the user does not need to install dedicated CMSsoftware in the PC. The function is exactly same as CMS except that WEBCMS does not support Download. It is to view live images and playbackonly.
