An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I long for you in my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though you have already come, I embrace you and unite myself entirely to you; never permit me to be separated from you. Amen. - St. Alphonsus Ligouri

Morning & Evening PrayerJoin Fr. John in praying the Liturgy of the Hours at 9:00am and 5:00pm every day from Palm Sun-day through Easter Sunday.

Pastor’s NotesPalm Sunday

Dear Parish Family,

This weekend we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. After spending rough-ly 3 years traveling throughout Israel teaching and performing many miracles Jesus, accompanied by many of his followers has gone up to Jerusalem to celebrate the great feast of Passover. We know from our study of the Gospels that the Jewish authorities were already against Jesus and looking for any way to silence Him. This grand entry into the city was only going to further their desire to be rid of Him. One aspect from the celebration of Palm Sunday that I think is particularly relevant to all of us today is the incredible speed in which Jesus goes from revered and celebrated to despised and execut-ed. In just a manner of a few short days Jesus, who was loved by so many is betrayed by one of His closest followers, falsely accused, tried and put to death. For us today we can all see how quickly our normal routine and life has been utterly turned upside down due to the COVID-19 virus. In just a few short weeks life has all but stopped. Work, school, play have all ceased and so many are isolating and self-quarantining in an attempt to guard their health as well as to stop the spread of this devastating virus. The story of Holy Week teaches us so many valuable lessons about life and God’s love for us and for this particular week in the year 2020 we must remember how fragile life is. We are learning firsthand that in a brief span of time how quickly it can change. Jesus, rode into Jerusalem knowing first hand what was going to transpire over the coming days. He knew his treatment would be brutal and the pain He was to face was unimaginable, yet He pressed on with great patience and courage. I pray that all of us will continue to face the trials of our current world with the same patience and courage that Jesus portrayed during Holy Week. Please take this time of distancing and unite yourself in prayer with Jesus. He is constantly with us, particularly during times of great suffering. To aid you during this great week we will continue to have Confession, Monday-Saturday from 12pm—1pm in the wooded lot on the corner of Old St. Augustine Road and Hood Landing Road. We will also be live streaming the Mass of Holy Thursday, Good Friday Service, The Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday Mass. Please continue to monitor all our social media platforms for current information pertaining to life here in the Parish. I want to thank those many Parishioners who have continued to financially support the Parish. We have received many donations through the mail and electronically and the are greatly appreciated. The Sunday offertory is what sustains our Parish Campus and ensures we are able to continue the work of evangelization. Thank you to all those who have ensured we can continue our work in these trying times.

With Prayerful Regards,

Fr. Sebastian

Did You Know? The heart is the very center of our being as human persons. All good and evil that we do flows out of our heart. Christ calls us to be pure in heart. Pure in heart means that our intellects and wills are attuned to the demands of God’s holiness in charity, chastity, and love of truth. (CCC #2518)

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Rom 12: 12). The words written by Saint Paul to theChurch of Rome resonate throughout the entire history of the Church and guide the judgment of the faithful inthe face of all suffering, sickness and calamity.

The present moment in which the whole of humanity, threatened by an invisible and insidious disease, which forsome time now has become part of all our lives, is marked day after day by anguished fears, new uncertaintiesand above all widespread physical and moral suffering.

The Church, following the example of her Divine Master, has always had the care of the sick at heart. As SaintJohn Paul II points out, the value of human suffering is twofold: “It is supernatural because it is rooted in thedivine mystery of the Redemption of the world, and it is likewise deeply human, because in it the persondiscovers himself, his own humanity, his own dignity, his own mission” (Apostolic Letter Salvifici Doloris, 31).

Pope Francis, too, in these recent days, has shown his paternal closeness and renewed his invitation to prayincessantly for those who are sick with the Coronavirus.

So that all those who suffer because of COVID-19, precisely in the mystery of this suffering, may rediscover “thesame redemptive suffering of Christ” (ibid., 30), this Apostolic Penitentiary, ex auctoritate Summi Pontificis, trusting in the word of Christ the Lord and considering with a spirit of faith the epidemic currently underway, to belived in a spirit of personal conversion, grants the gift of Indulgences in accordance with the following disposition.

The Plenary Indulgence is granted to the faithful suffering from Coronavirus, who are subject to quarantine byorder of the health authority in hospitals or in their own homes if, with a spirit detached from any sin, they unitespiritually through the media to the celebration of Holy Mass, the recitation of the Holy Rosary, to the pious
