The ecoroof itself encompasses 360 square feet, and was completed by the Portland firm of Dan Manning, PC, on 25 April 2011. Dan Manning , the firm’s principal, can be reached at 503 309 5858. Prior to the ecoroof installation, the roof was covered in tar paper and a black roofing compound. Rainwater drained from the roof into the adjacent grass yard, with resultant swampy conditions nine months of the year. With the installation of the ecoroof, stormwater runoff has been minimized. In addition, excess rainwater is now directed into a gravel well installed beneath a new permeable driveway. Dan and team planted a sedum mix on the ecoroof. At the owner‘s request, an exterior ladder to the roof was built and permanently installed to enable easy access for weeding, watering, and ongoing care. Below please find a series of photos which show 1) the garage, 2) the roof, and 3) a closeup of planted vegetation as of this past week.
