Our Bishop has announced at the Mass of Chrism that beginning Pentecost we would have a Year of Prayer for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our Diocese as we seek to

be a "mission-oriented Church that forms disciples of Jesus". Please take the insert and pray the PRAYER suggested as a family or as an individual daily for this grace. Next Sunday afternoon at 2 pm our Auxiliary Bishop, Joseph Dabrowski, CSMA, will be celebrating Mass at Our Lady of Victory and will be thanking Father Bogdan and the Society of Christ and introducing our Parish Team to the Community. We will be formally taking pastoral charge of Our Lady of Victory on July 2. The new schedules for Reconciliation and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament are still being worked on. Thank you for your patience. This weekend and next we will have a chance to thank Father Don for his ministry with us these past two years. The reception this weekend is at Blessed Sacrament and St. Agnes after morning masses and next weekend will be at St. Joseph and St. Ursula after morning masses. Father Don will leave us for his new charge as Pastor at St. John the Divine in London on July 1.

CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES! This week we will see our Grade 8’s from St. Agnes, St. Vincent, St. Ursula, George P. Vanier, Our Lady of Fatima, St. Joseph

and Monsignor Uyen Schools graduate and hold their ceremonies at various churches/schools in our family of parishes. Congratulations to all these young ladies and gentlemen who are now moving on to high school. We wish them all the best of luck in their future adventures! Also, congratulations to all our high school graduates this year too!

Behind you, all your memories Before you, all your dreams Around you, all who love you

Within you, all you need

DO YOU HAVE A LOVED ONE WHO IS IN HOSPITAL, CONFINED TO THEIR HOME, IN A LONG TERM CARE FACILITY OR AT HOSPICE?

The only way we have of knowing when one of our parishioners is sick or infirmed is when a family member or friend tells us.

If you know of someone who is unable to get to Mass, and they would like a visit from a member of the Pastoral Team or to receive any of the Sacraments, please let Pastoral Minister Karen Robert know.

Before you call, remember to get the permission of your family member or friend as required by the Privacy Act.

Karen can be reached at 519-352-9483 ext. 27 or via email [email protected].

ST. AGNES AND BLESSED SACRAMENT WEEKDAY MASS INTENTIONS

As stated in a previous bulletin, there will be a change in weekday Mass times beginning July 2. Since St. Agnes only had Mass intentions on Wednesdays, this is being changed to Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am currently working on changing all of the Wednesday 8 am Mass intentions to either Tuesday or Thursday. So please watch the bulletin for the new dates for the intentions. Feel free to give me a call to check on an intention that you previously had booked.

Also starting June 24 we will be taking Mass intentions for Blessed Sacrament on Wednesdays. All Friday Mass intentions will stay the same (and Fridays are fully booked for the rest of the year).

LECTIO DIVINA CD’S We now have available some CD’s from the Lectio Divina Series that was presented by Fr. Danny Santos during Lent. If you wish a copy, please contact Maureen at St. Ursula office, 519-352-8530.

HELP NEEDED If you would like to help out Altar Serving, being a Lector or Eucharistic Minister at St. Ursula Church at 7:00 pm Mass on Tuesday evenings or 9:30 am Mass on Thursday mornings, please contact Sandy Richie at 519-354-4885. Feel free to leave a message.

NEXT ALPHA CHATHAM CATHOLIC FAMILY OF PARISHES

What is Alpha? Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different question, and is designed to create conversation. No two Alphas look the same. They run in coffee shops, churches, bars, prisons, universities, schools and homes. There’s no pressure, no follow-up and no charge; it’s just an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.

Go to Tryalpha.ca for more info or; Better Yet! Talk to someone who attended our first Alpha.

• Thursday afternoons • Blessed Sacrament Hall – 1:00 - 2:30 pm • Coffee, Tea and Dessert, Video, Conversations about life’s important questions • Contact Colleen at [email protected] or 352-8530 for information. We look forward to meeting you!

BLESSED SACRAMENT SUNDAY FRIENDS Our last Sunday for Sunday Friends will be June 23. We will be taking a Summer Break and returning September 8. A faithful Helper, Hannah Teetzel will be heading off to University in the fall and we wish her every success and thank her for assisting with our Children’s Ministry for so many years. We welcome two new Leaders, Connie Badour and Tanya Franssen, as well as a Helper, Annika Brecka; all of whom have volunteered to teach with us. We appreciate that they will give their time and share their talents with our Blessed Sacrament Family.

“Like a shepherd he feeds his flock; in his arms he gathers the lambs, carrying them in his bosom, and leading the ewes with care. “ Isaiah 40:11

PRIEST PENSION FUND COLLECTION This weekend all parishes and Catholic communities in the Diocese of London are making an appeal for the Priest Pension Fund. Currently, there are more priests retiring than are being replaced with new priests. This will affect the pension fund in the future. If we act today by contributing to the fund, we can ensure that no priest must spend his old age in sickness or destitution due to poverty. Please prayerfully reflect on how you can help. There are envelopes available in the churches for you to use (and if donating by cheque, please remember to make it out to your home parish) and please make sure you mark your home parish on the outside of the envelope and drop it off in future weeks’ offertory baskets (or personally at the parish office). If you prefer, you can opt to give online at www.dol.ca. However you give, please be as generous as you are able. Also, please remember our retired priests in your prayers.

Our priests give us a lifetime of service. On Father’s Day weekend, let’s give back.

ST. AGNES ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

During the month of May we were able to help 14 adults and 3 children with food vouchers, food bags or bus tickets. Twenty-seven parishioners supported us through the use of envelopes.

As summer arrives, the Society will be offering assistance to provide a camp experience for needy children. Please continue to support us so that we may help the less fortunate in our area. Thank you.

CATHOLIC ENGAGED ENCOUNTER

The Catholic Engaged Encounter (CEC) provides quality preparation for marriage in a weekend retreat p r e s e n t e d i n a p r a y e r f u l atmosphere. The weekend is truly a spiritual experience, enriched by the availability of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the celebration of the Eucharist. The weekend is Catholic in thought, morality, ritual

and expression. It gives couples the opportunity to discover the deep meaning of the Sacrament of Marriage within the Catholic Church and offer couples a unique experience which focuses strongly on fostering good communication in marriage and the importance of God in their relationship. The program solidly supports Church teaching in all areas.

New dates available: November 1 - 3, 2019, March 6 - 8, 2020 and October 17 - 19, 2020

Please contact Terry and JoAnne Burrell from St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Sarnia at 519-542-8826 or be email at [email protected].

MERLIN SHRINE PILGRIMAGE Bishop Fabbro and Bishop Dabrowski invite the faithful to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Merlin on Tuesday, July 16. The day will begin with lunch at noon, followed by a concert performed by the Wallaceburg LifeTeen band at 1:00pm. A rosary procession will take place at 1:30 pm, followed by Mass celebrated by Bishop Dabrowski and Benediction at 2:00 pm.

You are also invited, on July 16 for a walking pilgrimage to the Shrine. There will be three starting points for the walking pilgrimage; a 22 kilometre walk will depart from St. Ursula Church in Chatham at 7:00 am, a 10 kilometre walk will depart from North Buxton Museum at 10:00 am and a 4 kilometre walk will depart from the Merlin Community Hall at 10:00 am. Pilgrims are welcome to bring their own lunches or purchase a hamburger or hotdog from the Knight’s of Columbus for a small fee. It is not necessary to register for this celebration.

PRAYER FOR FATHER’S DAY God our Father,

we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old. We pray for young fathers

newly embracing their vocation; may they find courage and perseverance

to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice.

We pray for fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering;

may they know that our God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow.

We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice.

We remember fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers

who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory

and nourish us with their love. Amen.
